The team at the Garth gave Mum excellent care, the same people looked after her and so got to know what she needed, with her condition this prevented her from becoming confused. The care and nursing team showed great compassion keeping us informed and up to date. We could visit most times of the day and the activities kept Mum stimulated, her favourite was the sherry social.
Chris, we would like to thank you for your words of kindness which are very much appreciated. We strive for personalised-centred care for all those living in our community and try to ensure that both they and their families experience that home-from-home feeling. All comments will be passed on to the team and thank you again for the review.
It should also be noted that the staff were just wonderful when it came to my stepmother's death. They stayed with her which was a great comfort to know she had people around her holding her hand in her last moments. They kept me informed. Sadly due to traffic we didn't make it in time.
On visiting I felt part of the family, the staff were always so welcoming. I would highly recommend Garth House.
Thank you Suzie for your kind words and recognition of the team at Garth House. We are really sorry for your loss and we hope we made your stepmother’s last months as peaceful as possible. Your comments will be passed on to the team.
Garth House provided our mother with respite care for two weeks. We received a very positive welcome and mum soon settled into the home. She has enjoyed the company of residents and excellent staff who were very attentive. She especially enjoyed the daily programme of activities and being able to sit in the lovely garden. Mum is coming home fitter and ready to resume life.
Thank you, Pat, for taking the time to leave us a review, we are pleased to hear that your mother enjoyed her respite stay at the home, in particular, the activities and spending time in our gardens. Your lovely feedback will be shared with the team.
Garth House care home sets a really high standard that all other care homes should aspire to. From the manager to the housekeepers, all of the staff show that they are proud of their high standards of care. I'm just amazed at the amount of activities available to the clients and the interaction there is with clients, entertainers and fitness professionals. If or when I need to move into a care home, this is the one I would want to stay in.
Thank you, John, for taking the time to leave us a review and for your kind words about the home and team, it is lovely to read your comments about the activities available. Your wonderful comments have been passed on to the team who will be delighted to hear your feedback.
The home was always clean, calm and welcoming and the management team, nurses and carers took the best care of my wife's needs and indeed my own and I always felt comfortable leaving her in their care.
My wife was regularly checked and was always kept clean and comfortable and treated with kindness, dignity and respect.
I can't thank Garth House enough for the care given to her and would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone. I don't think we could have found anywhere better.
Brian, we would like to thank you for your words of kindness which are very much appreciated. Our staff work hard to deliver high standards of quality care at all times. Your feedback will be passed on to the team.
We would just like to say our mother is very happy here.
Thank you for taking the time to review Garth House, we appreciate all feedback and I will share this with my team. We will continue to work together to ensure our residents feel safe and happy here.
Garth House staff welcomed Mum into the home in December and the standard of care and thoughtfulness have been excellent. Sadly, Mum has recently passed away, it is very reassuring that Mum spent her last weeks in such a caring environment. We are so glad we chose Garth House.
Thank you for your kind words, Doug. Although your mum was only with us for a short time, we are so pleased we made her stay with us comfortable. We are really sorry for your loss. Your comments will be passed on to the team.
My mother received the most loving and professional end-of-life care possible from Garth House. Together, the nursing home manager, nurses, Mum's GP, and I agreed that the best place for Mum's last few days would be at Garth House. All the staff made sure Mum was comfortable and without pain. Garth House is a great team and over those last few days, the carers and nurses (day and night shifts) competently checked and cared for my mother, looking after her with great dignity and always checking that I was ok too. Even the catering staff looked after me giving me sandwiches to keep me going. I think the standard of care was exceptional for the whole team at Garth House, from the manager, nurses and carers to the admin staff.
Thank you, Carol, for your kind words and recognition of the team at Garth House. We are really sorry for your loss and we hope we made your mum's last few days as peaceful as possible. Your comments will be passed on to the team.
My brother moved into Garth House over two years ago following a serious fall and five months in the hospital. He has settled in very well and regards Garth House as his home. The staff are so professional and caring and my brother is very fond of them. The food is very good and nothing is too much trouble for them to ensure he enjoys his meals. His room is bright and airy with an en-suite looking out into the garden. The staff ensure that my brother walks regularly, while supporting him which he really enjoys as he is wheelchair-bound for most of the time. I cannot recommend Garth House highly enough.
Thank you for taking the time, Anne, to review Garth House, we really appreciate your positive feedback and outstanding review. We're happy to hear that your brother is enjoying his meals and his ensuite garden room. I will share this with the rest of my team. We will continue to work together to make sure we create a homely environment for all who live here.
My mother looks relaxed and cared for since she moved in a few weeks ago. The Christmas trees and decorations look beautiful throughout the home. Lovely to see photos on the website, seeing all the festive cooking i.e. Christmas cakes and biscuits. The staff are all very kind, caring and welcoming. My mother really enjoys the music jukebox. I have suggested that a jigsaw can be set up, so at any time she can do it, and anyone else of course.
Thank you for your kind words and recognition of the team at Garth House. Your mother is a joy to care for and it is great to hear that she is enjoying the activities, in particular the music jukebox. Your comments will be passed on to the team.
Mum attended for end-of-life care. She was treated with gentleness, care and compassion.
On behalf of the Garth House team, we would like to thank you for your positive feedback. Although your mum was only with us for a short time, we hope we made her stay with us comfortable and would like to pass on our condolences on her passing.
The home has a very friendly atmosphere, relaxed and welcoming. Standards of hygiene are good and food always fresh. Staff at all levels show genuine interest and deliver warm care. People's needs are varied and demanding, but everyone always gives their best. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a fantastic review! We're happy to hear that we are delivering a good standard of care, food and facilities that make Garth House a home from home. I will pass on your kind comments to the whole team.
My mother came into Garth House last October expecting to live 7-11 days. She was treated at all times with dignity and respect. Miraculously, she rallied and ended up spending 9 months in their care. The staff were wonderful and Mum felt genuine affection for them. In time, she was able to get out of bed and started to go for a daily walk. The staff called her “ Speedy Gonzales” because she would take off at such velocity on her walking frame. I cannot thank you all enough for your kindness and care - I know some of you found Mum’s pragmatism and dark sense of humour a bit unusual, but be assured that she was very grateful to you all and so am I.
Thank you Kay for your kind words and recognition of the team at Garth House. We are really sorry for your loss, and we hope we made your mother's last months as peaceful as possible. She was a pleasure to have with us and your comments will be passed on to the team.
I visit my Mum once a week. As I have to use an electric wheelchair the staff are very helpful toward me in opening the side door to enter and leave. As well as visiting, I also phone once a week and I always feel relaxed as I chat with the staff about Mum. If Mum has ever had a change in medication or an issue has risen, I have always received a phone call with the details. I feel that the care that is given to Mum is excellent.
Thank you for your kind words, Trudy, we are pleased that both you and your mum feel relaxed at Garth House, we will continue to give excellent care to your mum and all our other residents. Thank you again for your review.
Dad was discharged from hospital and went to Garth House for palliative and end of life care, so he was only there for a short time. I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful the staff there are. As soon as he went to Garth House they attended to his personal care, this had been neglected for the two months that he was in hospital. Everyone knew his name and spoke to him when they went to his room, even though he was unable to respond. We, his family felt that he was cared for there as we would have cared for him ourselves. In his last days he was given his dignity back, which he had lost in hospital and was treated with care and respect. His family will always be grateful to the staff of Garth House for everything they did for him and by extension, us.
My mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and moved to Garth House during the Covid-19 pandemic, and we are so pleased that she went to live in such a wonderful care home. The management of the home is excellent and all the staff are very friendly and caring, even whilst having to work so hard through this difficult period. Mum seems very happy at Garth House and has never had a bad word to say about any element of her new life. She is clearly treated with dignity and is pleased to be included in the activities that take place for the residents to enjoy. My impression is that all residents are treated with great care to suit their various needs, but the atmosphere of Garth House is still fun and lighthearted, so residents can feel relaxed and comfortable and very much 'at home'. I would not hesitate in recommending Garth House.
Marvellous care home.
The staff at Garth House have always done as much as they could for my mum and our family. They have been very kind and helpful throughout.
Care home staff are always friendly and happy with residents and visitors. Recently visited during COVID-19 social distancing measures. Was very impressed with the level of cleanliness and procedures to keep my cousin safe from COVID-19. A lovely peaceful area set up for visiting.
Mum moved here when she had mental health care and nursing needs due to dementia, initially early onset, but finally, after three good years, terminal. Mum lover her room and enjoyed sitting in the lounge and taking lunch and supper in the dining room. Despite the usual widespread staffing challenges, the home looked after Mum well, and kept her safe. Many of the permanent staff were excellent and genuinely caring. I found the home were responsive to Mum's needs.
