My father was put into care because of lung cancer and we could no longer care for him at home. Everybody in the care home was exceptional and very good at their jobs. Outstanding.
Excellent!
All staff extremely helpful and professional.
My mum was a resident at Garth House for only a short time after being diagnosed with lung cancer and needing end of life care. Garth House had been recommended and we were lucky that they had a room free for her. In the first few days, the management team dealt with any concerns and worries without delay and as the weeks went by, we, as a family, and mum herself grew very fond of all the staff. We have such gratitude and respect for them all. Garth House made a difficult time just a little bit more bearable. Thank you.
We had already heard very good things about The Garth. So when the continuous health care sent us a list of nursing homes and The Garth was one of those we were very pleased. We viewed the room, we knew straight away this was the place for our dear Mum and she was moved in almost straight away. My Mum loved her room and all the staff that looked after her and she was very happy. We were made welcome too whatever time we arrived. We will always be eternally grateful to The Garth and all the staff for what they did for our Mum.
Everything is very professional, the rooms are always bright and spotlessly clean and there is overall a very welcoming atmosphere.
Blankets and cushions are often shared - this worries me, re the spread of colds.
Clothes get mixed up.
Shower/bath to be used more frequently.
Have to wait to use the toilet due to insufficient downstairs toilets.
Mother has been very happy since she has been at Garth House. I have no worries as I know she is safe and well cared for. I get calls when mother is sick.
Improvements have been made during the last year to the nursing home and are continuing. The home has a pleasant atmosphere and visitors are welcomed and staff always go the “extra mile” to assist. The Home Manager is very sincere, easy to talk to and committed to her task of ensuring excellent care is provided. The new Head Carer is also devoted to her task and was extremely helpful. My sister is happy at Garth House, I live in Canada and visit her every few months. I returned home feeling confident that she is receiving excellent care.
The care my mum had was thoughtful and respectful and gentle, as Mum had a few pain issues when moved.
She was always in a content, peaceful state. I cannot thank the staff enough.
Improvements have been made to this nursing home over the last six months and are continuing. The new manager is very pro-active in ensuring the residents and their relatives are kept informed and are listened to.
Mother is doing well at Garth House. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The food is good, mother seems better.
Activities could be better and a few more outings might help

Garth House has very professional and caring staff it provides excellent person-centred care to all of its residents. The staff are very dedicated and committed to making each of the residents they care for receive the best possible care they deserve. The care of the residents is paramount and sits right at the heart of the nursing home. All of the staff are very skilled in their own specialism and by working with other staff they provide high-quality person-centred care to all of its residents. This is a lovely nursing home with caring, compassionate and committed staff working to deliver high-quality person-centred care to all of the residents.
The management, medical and care team provide an excellent support and pastoral service for residents and relatives alike. The home presents a cheerful and professional approach from the moment you enter. They are extremely flexible and make every effort to accommodate requirements. A professional and well-run facility.
The manager and nurses are open and frank about any problems and deal with them promptly. I understand that there will be more entertainment soon which will be beneficial for the residents, as they do need to be stimulated more.

My relative has now settled in well at Garth House. We are very pleased with the new management and the proposed improvements with regard to staff and recruitment of permanent night staff. We have found that any queries or issues are listened to and acted upon, which is reassuring. The recent relatives meeting was very informative and gave us an opportunity to ask questions.

The standards at this home have improved enormously in recent months, which seems to be because of an influx of better quality staff. My brother and I are very satisfied with our mother's care and so is she, so thank you very much!

I am very impressed with the young lady who looks after the activities. She works very hard to involve all the residents with exercise, music, making things, gardening and outings. I have been coming to this home for over five years as my mother was here before she died and got to know residents and staff. Everybody is very nice and I enjoy my visits regularly.

Meet the Team (1)

I lead my professional Care Team in delivering the highest level of care and support for our residents. My commitment to professional development has equipped me well for my role here, where I work hard to ensure that those in my care lead happy and fulfilling lives, whilst maintaining choice over the care and support they receive.
I believe in maintaining strong relationships with residents and their relatives, and understand the important contribution that these relationships make to the successful running of a care home. I feel that the company’s philosophy matches up well with my own beliefs on care provision and I am committed to ensuring that all our residents continue to receive the high levels of care and protection they deserve.
