My mother-in-law spent her final years at Huntington House, where she was cared for by an exceptional team of carers, to whom I will always be deeply grateful. They treated her with kindness, compassion, respect and dignity throughout her time there.

I could not have wished for a better place for M-I-L to live. It felt like somewhere she truly belonged I felt she would feel at home there.

Overall, I have been very comfortable and well cared for. The care is a little disjointed, and there seems to be no routine to timing, but it gets there in the end. It may have been my palette, but some of the main courses seemed very overcooked, but the puddings were generally delicious.

I have just spent 2 weeks in convalescence post-surgery at Huntington House. All the staff are efficient, cheerful and willing. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and if there were any problems, they were speedily corrected.

I spent a fortnight there 18 months previously, and it was telling that over half the staff were there then and welcomed me back, which I feel says much of the excellent work ethos and management. A happy and efficient team.

Mum was a resident at Huntington House for just over 2 years and we couldn't have wished for a better place for her to be. She was always treated with such kindness, care and dignity. The staff are truly wonderful - warm, compassionate and attentive - nothing would be too much trouble. She spent many an hour outside enjoying the beautiful surrounds and array of animals and pets. It was always a superbly relaxing place to visit.

We will always be extremely grateful for the love and support shown to mum in her time at Huntington House.

Overall, Huntington was the right place for our father in his final months. The home as an old manor house, has character and continues very well with all the staff's care, which is personal and respectful. Huntington feels like a private home, not an institution, which is what our father needed. The staff are fabulous and very caring, we cannot thank them enough for caring so well for our father in his last months.

Our mother was a resident at Huntington House for just over 2 years until her recent death. The home has a family atmosphere of friendliness and care. The staff aim to treat people as individuals, finding out their interests and things they enjoy. They arrange trips out in small groups in their own transport, suitable for wheelchairs.

The Shepherds Hub, the conservatory, can be reserved for family gatherings to celebrate birthdays, where a cake is made for the resident of their choice, by Huntington. There a regular excellent musicians who bring a variety of musical events. All the staff work hard to give time & care to residents. Management responds promptly to any worries and deals with any issues kindly and openly. We were very happy with the love and care received.

My father was in Huntington House for about 3 months and I cannot speak too highly of the care he received. I do not want to single out any staff as all were caring, professional, kind and lovely. There were so many activities for him and the home had special people just to do quizzes or play dominoes or take the residents out in the sun to chat. My father needed help with his food and moving about and all the staff were amazing. Eventually he was on the way out and the way the staff helped him and me was so compassionate and genuinely heart warming. This care home is absolutely top notch. I am not surprised it has received awards as it is exceptional. The management is superb and the whole place is simply lovely.

Huntington House is an exceptional care home that has become a second home for our mother. The staff's dedication, compassion and professionalism are unparalleled. When our mother moved in at 90, we thought she had little time left. Remarkably, she thrived, last weekend celebrating her 98th birthday surrounded by family in a beautifully decorated cottage on the grounds. The staff's attention to detail, from understanding her needs to arranging special moments like her birthday, is extraordinary. Despite dementia, she's settled and happy - a transformation we never imagined. The peaceful grounds and home-like atmosphere contribute to her longevity and quality of life. The staff's patience with our family's concerns has been invaluable. Huntington House has given us priceless extra years with our mother, turning an impossible situation into something beautiful. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to the entire team for your care and love.

I cannot fault anything at Huntingdon House Nursing Home, they cared for my father during the last seven weeks of his life. I wish to comment on the excellence of care taken by all at the home for my mother, who has been a resident at Huntington for more than five years. I initially had reservations about the quality of care it would be possible for her to receive once it became necessary for her to move from her own home, but Huntington have consistently exceeded any hopes I could have formulated. The staff have been friendly, welcoming and endlessly supportive of our mother throughout that time, showing endless patience with her. In particular, I am exceedingly grateful for the care and persistence taken in recently resolving a difficult problem involving the local authority. The owner of the care home could not have done more, and I will be forever grateful to the management for their kindness, their generosity, and their obvious concern above all for the welfare of our mother. As others have noted, Huntington House truly is an exceptionally well run care home.

My mother moved into Huntington House in 2019 after the death of my father when she found she was unable to cope with daily life any more. Having thought her days were nearly over, within just a few weeks there was a noticeable change in her as she became stronger in both body and mind, which I put down to the exceptional care she received and continues to. She trusts the long-term staff who work there as do I. The homely environment is warm and comfortable, she enjoys her meals (where her dietary intolerances are well catered for) in the lovely dining room, her complex medical needs are looked after by competent, experienced nurses and the staff are genuinely kind and caring. It is a huge comfort to know that she is safe, happy and so well looked after and I really could not ask for anything more. I would add that the way Huntington responded to the pandemic was remarkable and although I missed my mother terribly during this time, I felt that she was in the best place possible place.

My mother went into Huntington House for one month for respite care while I was abroad. The feedback from relatives who visited her, and from our own Facetime calls, was always extremely positive. The staff were unfailingly helpful and warm and seemed to have developed a very good relationship with my mother. This clearly helped her to settle in very quickly and ensured that her stay was a very happy one. We would be delighted to use Huntington House again at some point.

Huntington House was a breath of fresh air from the moment the door was opened. All of the staff, whatever the role were caring, friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. My sister was very well cared for, always clean, tidy with lots of company when she wanted it. We as a family were delighted that her last few months were at Huntington House.

My brother arrived here for his end of life care after several weeks in a hospice. The hospice was excellent but this was a much more suitable and homely place for the time he had left. The nursing care he needed was more than many nursing homes can provide, but the Huntington House team took it all in their stride. His care was skillful and tender - more like 'a home with nursing' than a conventional nursing home.

He had a lovely large room with an outlook over glorious woodland in a quiet area of the building. Huntington is a converted older house, but the conversion has been done with modern care standards in mind - proper bathrooms, room for the gradually increasing equipment needs, wide doors and corridors etc. The staff do not wear uniforms or name badges, which encourages getting to know their names and a family feel. I certainly felt they knew me (and, more importantly, my brother) quickly. The team responded rapidly to his changing needs, which was very reassuring.

Reply from Charlie Hoare, Managing Director at Huntington House

Thanks so much for such a thoughtful review, and your kind words about your brother's care. It will really help others in a similar situation to know the level of care they can expect from us, and the team will be so pleased that their care was so appreciated. Best wishes

Huntington House is exceptional; a family-owned and managed concern, and their ethos of 'Let our family look after yours' really does ring true. From the moment you walk in the door, you can see and feel the genuine caring and friendliness of all the staff. They are all very friendly, and wonderfully attentive and nothing is too much trouble.
Set on beautiful grounds, Huntington House is a very welcoming place. There are always plenty of activities available each day to those who want to take part. Once staff had worked out Mum's interest they have now encouraged her to participate in many activities which were not previously available to her and as a result, she has made new friends and is able to get outside.

Although she has only been there a few months, I would not hesitate to recommend it.

My friend has been a resident at Huntingdon House for about 12/18 months. She is cared for well by all the staff. Her room is bright and cheerful with views across the grounds. She loves the menu choices and is grateful to the housekeeping and catering staff for the efforts they make to present the food so well and cater for her likes.
Her birthday was celebrated with other residents in the lounge decorated with balloons and a delicious cake was enjoyed.

When my friend has required medical attention this is provided by the excellent GP Surgery with prompt transfers to the local hospital accompanied by staff from Huntington House. Throughout a protracted stay in hospital, the Huntingdon House team remained in contact with us and with my friend. We could not ask for better care for our dear friend who is treated as an individual but also feels very much a part of the Huntingdon family.

Having grown up in Huntington House and spent my childhood living alongside the people we've looked after, I have a unique insight into care. As a result, I am always trying to find ways to make our care home more of a, well, home. I've pioneered a care model that breaks down the barriers between residents and staff, and have been invited to speak at industry events about the importance of relationship-centred care and creating a sense of belonging in an industry that often aspires to be hotel-like with more emphasis on hospitality than homeliness.
Pre-Covid, my own family played a big part in our home, and we are currently training our new puppy (a miniature dachshund) to be a therapy dog that will hopefully soon be coming to the homes with me on a daily basis.

I am always more than happy to chat to anyone trying to figure out the best way forward for their loved one requiring care, so please don't hesitate to contact us and ask for me if I can help in any way at all.
