Overall Experience

My mother has received exceptional care and compassion since taking up residency at Huntington House. There is a family-like attitude within the team who nurse for my mother's needs. Management prioritises looking after their staff and indeed the consistency of faces and minimal staff turnover is noted. Of course, the location and environment are exceptional. My mother loves the cuisine and in fact, believes she is staying in a five-star hotel.

Reply from Charlie Hoare, Managing Director at Huntington House

Thanks so much for your feedback, we are thrilled that your mother has had such a positive experience and the team will be delighted to know their approach to care is appreciated.

My sister and I never fail to be so very grateful and impressed by the kindness of the staff at Huntington and the high quality of care. Each resident is treated with the utmost respect and as individuals, nothing seems to be too much trouble. We looked at a large number of local care homes for our father, this stood out amongst them as by far the best.

Reply from Charlie Hoare, Managing Director at Huntington House

Very caring and friendly staff.

Both my parents have been in this home, and my siblings and I have been very happy to see how they have been looked after. The home tries hard to create a homely and supportive atmosphere.

I can’t sing the praises of the home and staff here. From the owners and managers right the way across the team to the magnificent carers, they have been so helpful, friendly, kind and considerate to my mother and the rest of our family. Nothing is too much trouble and they always try to involve Mum in the day to day events of the home.
The extra mile is in the details, extracurricular activities here are fantastic, fun and uplifting for all the residents and their loved ones.
We started with a respite stay and loved it so much Mum just never left.

An absolutely wonderful place for my mum to live out the rest of her beautiful life.

My Nan and Grandad were moved into Huntingdon House, at ages 94 and 99, after living independently. Both Nan and Grandad were given exemplary care. Nan joined in the day time activities, particularly enjoying the cooking and the day trips out. Grandad enjoyed talking to the care home staff about his life experiences, with the staff giving him time to talk.
I cannot recommend Huntingdon House highly enough. They were so kind and considerate and made the transition from living independently to assisted so seamless.

We cannot thank the staff enough, you made Nan and Grandad's lives so wonderful and happy. Thank you.

We wanted Mum to stay at home as long as possible, so the decision to move to Huntington House was very hard but has turned out to be an excellent one. The quality of care has been exceptional with an extraordinary level of personalisation. During COVID, they have shown excellent judgement managing risk vs Mum's quality of life. I recommend them unreservedly. They consistently go the extra mile for residents and their families.

A well managed nursing home with accessible leadership. The staff in our experience were respectful, kind and caring. A variety of activities kept residents stimulated. The grounds are beautiful and well-tended, flower displays are dotted around the buildings. The menu provided was always varied but if an individual preferred and alternative this would be provided.

Huntington House and all the staff have provided fabulous care for my mother throughout the years she has been here. Everyone is considerate, kind and compassionate to a degree that makes one realise it is not just an institution.

My mother is incredibly fortunate to be here. The food and facilities and entertainment are all excellent.

I cannot praise this care home enough. The staff are always friendly, smiling and welcoming to both staff and family.
They were especially caring and supportive to us when my mother died, making sure my father didn't feel isolated.

It may not have the quality feeling of a 5-star hotel but feels like a warm, comfortable home which suited my parents.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We pride ourselves in providing care in a homely setting rather than a hotel setting and find people living here prefer the relaxed atmosphere and comfort. It helps them feel like they are at home rather than living in "a" home. Thank you again, your comments will be passed to the team who take such pride in their roles here.

Does not "feel" like an old person's home - more like a hotel for the elderly with the bistro/bar/hair salon. Compassionate care is provided with humour, friendship and professionalism. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

I came for respite care following a stay in hospital, being unable to go home and live alone. The 2 weeks spent at Huntington House has returned me to full health and I am able to leave stronger and fitter than for some time. I am most grateful to all the staff at Huntington House for their care and encouragement. Thank you all.

An outstanding director who is very sensitive to residents. Huntington House is a special place, not only is it family run but the home is clean, pretty and has beautiful views over a forest/woodland. The rooms are comfortable with all amenities required and some lovely staff. There is a water fountain, fish pond, ponies and a house cat. Activities and trips to join. A stylish, peaceful home with a private room to book for guests/family meals and get-togethers.

Overall - good/satisfactory one week stay. Food good, staff willing to help as much as possible as individuals. But not always as a coordinated team e.g problems with coordination of information given at the beginning of my stay e.g what underwear for each day and night. If you only nominate one or two key people being informed of what I needed it would help avoid any confusion. May I suggest more discussions are needed before my stay in the future. Thank you.

Thoroughly rested (which was what I needed). I am very well fed - I feel it has done my general health good. I was very well cared for during 3 visits to the day clinic and surgery. I could not have coped with this where I was living.

I enjoyed friendships and the support of all the staff.

To come here after surgery and before being able to manage at home alone was very beneficial. All the staff were attentive, patient and cheerful. The food was a bonus, well cooked, balanced with plenty of choices. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and well equipped and everywhere nicely decorated.

Having grown up in Huntington House and spent my childhood living alongside the people we've looked after, I have a unique insight into care. As a result, I am always trying to find ways to make our care home more of a, well, home. I've pioneered a care model that breaks down the barriers between residents and staff, and have been invited to speak at industry events about the importance of relationship-centred care and creating a sense of belonging in an industry that often aspires to be hotel-like with more emphasis on hospitality than homeliness.
Pre-Covid, my own family played a big part in our home, and we are currently training our new puppy (a miniature dachshund) to be a therapy dog that will hopefully soon be coming to the homes with me on a daily basis.

I am always more than happy to chat to anyone trying to figure out the best way forward for their loved one requiring care, so please don't hesitate to contact us and ask for me if I can help in any way at all.
