The friendly and welcoming lifestyle team arranges a varied daily activities programme as well as welcoming the local community for special events, with everything from summer fetes to hobbies and group activities, like film screenings and flower arranging.

Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge. Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible.

On several occasions, the resident has not been washed or dressed until the afternoon, even though staff visited during the morning. Quality of food has diminished over the past few months and on a lot of occasions items on the menu have not been available. The food is also quite cold. Seems to be very short-staffed and available staff members are so busy they do not seem to have time to spend with the residents on a regular basis. Communication between staff and residents not forthcoming.

Thank you for your review. I understand you have now spoken to the home manager regarding your points above and that he has been able to clarify and allay your concerns. At Milner House, respecting resident’s wishes is paramount, and if an individual for whatever reason, wants to relax for longer in the morning before getting up, the care team would, of course, be considerate to their request. For food, we are incredibly proud that all meals are cooked fresh in house by our chef-led team at the home – we constantly speak with residents, as well as their family and friends, about all aspects of the home, including food, to make sure everyone is happy and that we’re offering choices and dishes that everyone will enjoy. We do not run out of items on the menu, and in fact, are always happy to prepare meals and snacks for residents throughout the day too, if they fancy something different. Food is strictly temperature checked and cooked and served straight away. I would also like to reassure you that we are not at all short-staffed at Milner House - we’re proud of the strong relationships that the team have with residents, and this is evident to anyone visiting the home.

I have been a resident for only two months. Nobody wants to be in a home but I find this one is very good. Everyone treats me with respect and I feel under no pressure to finally make up my mind to stay or not. All the staff seem relaxed. They are always willing to listen and help you where they can. Everyone here seems to want you to feel settled and comfortable. The manager is friendly and approachable and if you ask questions you'll get a straight answer. I have a few reservations about the consistency of the care staff but the management seems well aware of any problems and tries hard to recruit more staff for the house. The rooms are nice and the food is OK - everyone tends to leave you in peace but staff are readily available.

Having moved my dear friend from a previous home where she was bedbound for 2 1/2 years, as decided by them, due to her disablement through ataxia of the cerebellum, she is now enjoying a much better life at Milner House. Thanks to the manager and staff, she is able to be hoisted into a specially designed chair allowing her to be part of 'the family' at Milner House, enjoying all aspects of life there, even days in the garden during lovely sunny days, being included has been a complete reversal during those 2 1/2 years being bedbound. Seeing such a change in her has been so rewarding, thanks to the compassion at Milner House - they care about people.
