Puttenham Hill House provides round the clock residential and nursing care for short or long term needs. The home offers all forms of short stay care including palliative and convalescence.

Stays can be from a few weeks to experience living at the home, a month while recovering from an operation or a more long-term move. Advance bookings available (up to 6 months).

An elegant 1920s former private residence, Puttenham Hill House has spacious bedrooms and two beautifully decorated lounges and a large activities room.

Outside, the well-maintained grounds are ideal for wheelchairs. Residents can enjoy a little light gardening in the summer months. It feels very much like home, based in a peaceful area, surrounded by beautiful grounds and wildlife.

A wide range of nutritionally-balanced meals are freshly prepared daily and every effort is made to cater to individual tastes. Residents can either choose to dine outside in the summer when the weather permits, take meals in the dining room or in the comfort of the bedroom.

Puttenham Hill House is a small community with a friendly atmosphere. Regular meetings are held with residents and relatives to listen to views and ideas. And there’s no pressure to join in with activities; residents are always free to choose what to do.

The activities coordinator ensures that activities to suit all interests and levels of mobility are always available, from music concerts and exercise classes to history talks and reminiscence sessions.

My mum stayed here for her last couple of months for end of life care. I was very concerned about her going into a home due to all the press you read. However, my concerns very quickly disappeared. The home is spotlessly clean, also my mum was allowed a glass of wine whenever she wanted and the chefs
even ordered in her favourite food. I often stayed to have lunch with her or tea and cake in the afternoon which made the visits and the final time I spent with my Mum very precious. Also, each and every single one of the team were caring and gave my mum dignity, from the managers, carers to the chefs. Not forgetting the lovely nurses, one of them even stayed with my Mum in her final hour so she was not alone.
My Mum was very precious to me and if Puttenham Hill was good enough for my mum I promise you if you have to go through the same you will not be disappointed in Puttenham Hill, it is amazing!

A lovely atmosphere where everyone says hello and makes you feel welcome. You get the impression that the majority of the staff really care for the clients and enjoy their job. Agency staff have left my mother feeling "forgotten" and a hindrance but this is rare.
Fresh home cooked food with a great
menu and enjoyed despite my mother being a very fussy eater.

Our Mum has been at Puttenham Hill now for six years. One of the reasons we chose this home was because it had the feeling of being a real home and not a large purpose built institution – a home from home!


The staff are brilliant - caring, understanding and at the same time totally professional

and efficient; several have been there since she first went there! The food is of excellent quality and the home is kept impeccably clean.


The Activity Coordinator is imaginative, working tirelessly to: devise outings; provide a wide variety of diversions and activities; organise seasonal events; and still find time for a one-to-one with residents. Celebrations like Christmas, Easter and Summer Fairs are lively and relaxed with lots of visiting animals and children; and laughter!


Thank you Puttenham Hill for giving us peace of mind that our Mum is well looked after, safe and happy!

Enjoyed yummy fish and chips and a lovely trip[ to Portsmouth with mum the lovely staff and some of the residents.
As a family, we didn't think that we would get a chance to go to the sea altogether again but thanks to the lovely staff we did.
Mum had a lovely time and we are very grateful to all
the staff here for everything they do to help and look after mum on a daily basis.
All the staff go above and beyond to look after the residents and are always friendly and welcoming to us as a family. Thank you.

Mum needs full-time palliative care. My husband and I viewed a number of homes, some of those made us question whether this was the best course of action for Mum.
On entering Puttenham Hill our worries were allayed. The environment the staff have created is one of care, happiness and safety. Beautiful
rooms and lovely lounges.
Mum feels safe and secure. All aspects of her care needs are catered for. Thank you to all included for looking after her.

I am very happy with the care that my grandfather receives all of the carers are wonderful and they work so hard in the home, my grandfather always looks so well cared for every time I visit. He especially enjoys the activities and loves the ducks that have hatched at Puttenham Hill, I can't thank the
care staff enough for all that they do. The manager is always pleasant and deals with any concerns I have. Very good service.

All staff, at all levels, show a professional yet cheerful manner, demonstrating empathy and above all, a genuine care for our Mother. All of which was delivered in good humour and attention to detail.
We witnessed the practice of staff that goes way beyond the role that they are employed to do. We
have seen genuine affection for our Mother, a hug or a peck on the cheek goes a long way when she was down or frightened. We believe that these actions have provided a sense of security and well-being when it was needed most. With all of the concern over medical issues, it is easy to overlook the need to keep mind and emotions stable as well. This is something that has been catered for in an exemplary manner by all.
I have a number of shining examples of this behaviour by staff.
Would you please pass our admiration and gratitude on to all of the team with our thanks.

Mum received excellent palliative care in the final weeks of her life. The staff, without exception, were kind, caring and thoughtful. Mum was treated with dignity and a great deal of kindness. Her room overlooking the gardens was well appointed, nicely decorated and peaceful. Choosing a care home
for my dear Mum was something I had hoped never to do but she could not have been better cared for anywhere. I feel comforted knowing that her final days were comfortable and peaceful. Thank you to all the team.

My wife who is 63 years of age, was transferred to palliative care after spending 7 weeks in hospital. It was discovered that cancer had progressed to her brain causing seizures, acute memory loss and mobility problems. Having visited several care homes we decided that Puttenham Hill House would support
my wife the best. It had a good feeling.


The level of professionalism, the kindness and understanding by all staff show to my wife, myself and our daughter. The palliative care team helped greatly in my wife's transition to palliative care for which I will be forever grateful. Thank you all!

My dad has been a resident at Puttenham Hill House for over a year. He has a number of health issues but it's his Bi-Polar disorder which has always been his worst problem.
Since making his home at Puttenham Hill House he has been more stable with his depression, which is due to the amazing care and
attention he gets every day.
He has been so happy, which enables us as a family not to worry as we know he is safe, happy and well looked after.

Beautiful location and easy to reach from the major road network. Friendly, family atmosphere and the staff are excellent. My wife is very happy there and I couldn't ask for better nursing care. I can't honestly think of any bad points.

My mother is being cared for there. The staff are very helpful and friendly. My experience with this care home has overall been very good they look after the patients very well. The food is also very good . I can only praise all the staff there.
