Facilities were always clean and the food is excellent. There was lots of flexibility towards special needs and requests. The atmosphere always appeared relaxed. One always had more of the impression of a hotel than a care home. The level and variety of activities provided is also excellent.

Sunrise of Bagshot is an extremely lovely care home. The home has a very attractive appearance, inside and out. The decor is lovely and kept spotlessly clean. No nasty smells as in some other care homes! The care is excellent, although at times there is a shortage of staff, especially at weekends....
Sunrise of Bagshot is an extremely lovely care home. The home has a very attractive appearance, inside and out. The decor is lovely and kept spotlessly clean. No nasty smells as in some other care homes! The care is excellent, although at times there is a shortage of staff, especially at weekends. Overall it is a lovely place to stay and the outings are organised every week (normally 3 per week). Lots of activities for the residents to do and the staff are very good at encouraging the residents to participate. Expensive but worth it!

I want to pay tribute to the good quality of care my mother receives in this residential and nursing home. She has just celebrated her 100th birthday and Sunrise arranged a lovely party for her with an entertainer. My mother always receives courteous and kind treatment and reliable personal care.

I was very relieved when my mother moved home in March. Although it is a costly affair to move anyone from Sunrise of Bagshot it was worth it. Despite my mother being a resident at Sunrise for a number of years the change in management became more frequent, staff changes also increased with over the period of her stay. Her room was dark and if there was any sun it bounced off the cars travelling along the busy road outside and could be so intense it worried me about my mother's tendency to have migraines. This was mentioned and never responded to. My mother had many falls. Whilst it is difficult to assess if there was sufficient help to aid my mother as you would normally expect in a home I have my doubts. Over the years as a family we have raised many concerns, too many hence the fact that my mother moved despite concerns about how unsettling she might find a move and a home was found further away which is less convenient but hopefully is a safer environment.

Girlie began her nursing career in the Philippines, qualifying as a nurse at the age of 21 before moving to the UK to continue her career in care.
Since then, Girlie has continued to develop her career, progressing from Registered General Nurse to Clinical Nurse Manager and then Deputy Manager, before taking on her first role as General Manager in 2019.

I joined in 2011, the same as Tracey, since the day it opened. I look after all resident's dietary needs, their nutrition their hydration, their intolerances, their allergies, and most importantly their likes and dislikes. Not everyone is a fan of everything and it's important to me that everyone gets something they like. I especially enjoy making special cakes for birthdays and anniversaries. Did you know I have made over 10 100th birthday cakes! Food is such an important part of good living and I am so passionate about making sure the residents enjoy their meals. Mel brings creativity, warmth and enthusiasm to her role as Well-Being & Activity Coordinator at Bagshot Gardens.
Mel originally trained and qualified in hairdressing, inspired by her dad, who is a salon manager and hairdresser. Before joining Bagshot Gardens, she worked as a Corporate Events and Wedding Planner at a hotel in Newbury, where she developed her passion for creating memorable experiences and bringing people together.
Mel’s role focuses on supporting the well-being of our residents and creating fun, meaningful activities and special moments for everyone to enjoy. She loves being able to use her creativity to bring joy to residents and make each day special.
Mel’s creative talents were inspired by her nan, who taught her to knit, bake, sew and repair clothes. These skills and memories remain a big part of who she is today, and she enjoys bringing that same creativity and sense of connection to her role.

I started in Care over 13 years ago coming from a finance background, so it was quite different, but something I felt I’d like to do after helping care for family. I started as a Carer on Reminiscence which I really enjoyed and later went on to driving their minibus and taking them out on little adventures. Last year, after driving for many years and in different communities, I decided to settle down and just stay at Bagshot, helping with Maintenance a couple of days a week. In November I handed over the reins as Minibus Driver to my colleague, Cherrie, (I knew the residents would be in safe hands) and became a full-time Maintenance Operative. You will now find me walking down the corridors with paint on my shoes and sawdust on my trousers. I enjoy my new role very much, ensuring the residents’ have nice rooms to live in and everything is working as it should be. I’m very much looking forward to the Summer where hopefully we can get the residents involved in some DIY, if they want to of course.
Outside of work, I love walking driving, and exploring new places.
