My sons and I turned up at the home without an appointment to be greeted with smiles from Busi the house manager and Tully her deputy..
They listened to our queries and answered with kindness and patience.
When my husband arrived at the home,Rose greeted him ,she was amazing so kind and understanding ,
Bobby did everything we asked to make his room more personal.
Sue the entertainment manager is brilliant and encourages the residents to get involved in the various activities in a gentle way.
The catering staff are also excellent and produce home cooked food with a varied menu .
The care staff have a very difficult job as the residents needs can be complex and basic but they always do their job with a smile, they are to be commended.
The home is spotless ,as are the residents.

My mother spent her final few months at Tupwood Gate. My family were all very happy with the way she was looked after. The management and staff are excellent. Everyone was friendly, caring and sensitive to my mother's and our needs. Tupwood Gate took care of everything and ensured that she was always comfortable. The activities, which were organised every weekday, were great fun and helped to make the home feel like a real community. Thank you to everyone at Tupwood Gate.

Really helpful staff, dad is always clean and well dressed, staff genuinely seem to care about the residents, including reception, house keeping and maintenance staff not just the care workers or medical professionals. The food is always freshly cooked and looks and smells nice. Highly recommend

All staff in all departments have been friendly and helpful at all times to both of us,There is a warm homely atmosphere within the home . In more recent times when my husbands health was failing he was well cared for in all respects and his care wishes respected.I would recommend Tupwood Gate to people wanting to feel part of a community and in comfortable surroundings . The staff team at Tupwood Gate Nursing Home are fantastic going the 'extra mile' to support mum. The entertainment team ensure residents enjoy different activities 6 days each week. Mum also really enjoys the singers and musicians that visit regularly.
I am confident that mums healthcare needs are met and the nursing, care and management team are approachable if I have any concerns or queries about her needs.
I can understand why the home was shortlisted and in the National finals for the best in palliative care support. Well done Tupwood and thanks.

The whole team at Tupwood Gate are amazing. We booked our elderly neighbour in for respite after having a hip replacement. He is 100 years old and just as amazing. We chose Tupwood as my mother-in-law was taken care of there over 7 years ago. Then and now, the staff go above and beyond to care for the residents. A lot of staff remain from many years ago, which speaks volumes to me. My neighbour was shown a positive attitude to get him back home to looking after himself. Tupood Gate is fantastic.
It means a great deal to us that you chose Tupwood Gate again, and we are incredibly proud that our long-standing staff continue to go above and beyond. Your feedback about the positive attitude shown to help your neighbour get back home speaks volumes. We are so grateful for your kind words.
Wonderful care and nursing staff, nothing too much trouble. Sanitary needs attended to without delay. The home has a cleaning regime that maintains the highest standards possible . The overall facilities are excellent , all food is cooked in their own kitchens, residents entertainment is well catered for. Car parking is easy with plenty of spare places. And very importantly, Tupwood Gate is a very happy place.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartwarming review of Tupwood Gate. We are absolutely delighted to read your kind words about our care and nursing staff, and that you feel nothing is too much trouble for them.
We were impressed in every respect including your furnishings and cleanliness of the building, the care provided by all staff on duty which included giving us coffee on arrival!
We sat comfortably for over an hour and was only sorry no one asked us to stay for lunch! The smartness and cheerfulness of all staff and the outstanding helpfulness of the duty receptionist well done
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful feedback following your visit to see friends on Bank Holiday Monday! The staff at Tupwood Gate take good care of my Grandmother who has been a resident at the home since August 2024.
The nurses, care staff and managers provide excellent person centred care, we could not ask for more. The staff are caring and compassionate we are very happy with the care that my grandmother receives.

At Tupwood Gate, our team is dedicated to providing person-centred support, and knowing that it's making a positive difference means the world to us.
What a lovely home, my dad calls it his hotel. A great atmosphere and all the staff are lovely. What more could you ask for than a cooked breakfast followed by morning activities, then in to the dinning room for lunch. The conservatory is bright and welcoming and the gardens are a joy when the suns out. The building is like a stately home rather than the modern purpose built options and I can see myself booking in for a break. Well done all.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We're so pleased to hear that your dad is enjoying his time with us-and we love that he calls it his hotel! Creating a welcoming, homely atmosphere is at the heart of what we do, and it's lovely to know that the meals, activities, and surroundings are being enjoyed.

We contacted Tupwood Gate to provide residential palliative care and nursing for my father. The home is clean and friendly and makes the effort to keep residents entertained and engaged. Whilst he was only there for a week, I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care, nursing and personal attention provided by nurses and carers that he was given during his stay. The management team have been professional and supportive throughout and are friendly and welcoming to all that either visit or are resident. Every aspect has helped provide a great comfort in knowing that he was being cared for during his stay. I would highly recommend Tupwood Gate for its professional care and facilities.
Providing comfort, dignity, and compassionate care-especially during such important moments-is at the core of what we do. Your recognition of our team's efforts means a great deal to all of us. Thank you for taking the time to submit a review.

Meet the Team (7)

I'm Busi and I joined Cygnet in 2003 as a care support worker. In the same year I was promoted to a senior care support worker and decided to complete my nurse training as a mental health nurse in Anglia Ruskin University. After completing the qualification, I returned to Old Leigh House to complete a preceptorship. After lots of training and building experience, I became the Registered Service Manager for the same service.
I then held a number of roles outside of the organisation to acquire more skills in nursing, including being a Registered Manager in a Nursing Home for the elderly. I returned to Cygnet in July 2020 as Service Manager at Old Leigh House. In 2024 I took on a new role as a Regional Manager where predominately supported Tupwood Gate Nursing Home, before becoming the Service Manager for Tupwood later that year.

I joined Tupwood Gate in November 2009 as a registered nurse, I was made deputy manager in December 2021. I enjoy providing our residents with the support they need to make their lives as enjoyable and as comfortable as possible with the dignity they deserve.
I enjoy supporting the staff team and take staff welfare very seriously. The thing I like most about Tupwood Gate is the teamwork and inclusivity. Everyone is treated with fairness and respect. We feel empowered by Cygnet to step up when we need to.

have been working at Tupwood Gate Nursing Home since November 2021. For most of my adult life I was employed in manufacturing, I studied engineering in the late 70s and early 80s. During a St. John First Aid course, I was inspired to consider a career change to nursing. I qualified as a nurse in 2014 having studied for a diploma at Surrey University.
Initially, I was employed in the acute sector before moving into adult rehabilitation and elderly frail care. Having been offered a position as a registered nurse at Tupwood Gate, I decided to commence working for Cygnet Health Care. What I like most about working at Tupwood Gate is that I get to know the residents and their families really well, something which has not always been possible in my previous nursing roles.
Working at Tupwood Gate is enjoyable: we have a good team here and the management is supportive of all staff. When I am not being a nurse I enjoy attempting cryptic crosswords, and visiting zoos and nature reserves, I have also been trying to learn Spanish for the last 30 years! I used to volunteer as a steward at Shakespeare’s Globe in London so theatre is another of my pastimes. Fun fact: my favourite animal is the Asian Short - Clawed Otter.

Carole is the catering manager and has worked at Tupwood Gate for 17 years - in this role for 15 years. Carole is a qualified chef and also studied patisserie. She likes to get to know the residents on a personal basis, understanding their like, dislikes and preferences. Tupwood cater for all manner of diets, including diabetic, vegetarian, gluten free and also any religious requirements. Carole looks forward to meeting all new residents and discussing their catering requirements.

Bobby started working for Tupwood Gate when he came to England from the Philippines in 2003, where he had just graduated as a Registered Nurse. At first he was working as the laundry assistant and then progressed to laundry and housekeeping manager. Dealing with staff allocations and ensuring that the Nursing Home always looked clean and smelled nice.
During his time at Tupwood, Bobby has assisted the staff in many ways, he drives the minibus and collects staff at the train station, assist all departments as and when needed. Bobby was offered the Maintenance Manager position a few years ago and this is his main role now, he deals with general maintenance of the building and garden areas. Bobby enjoys working at Tupwood Gate and the interaction with the staff and residents.

For the past two years, Charlotte has served as an Activities Coordinator at Tupwood Gate. She loves nothing more than seeing the residents smile, knowing that the entire team plays a crucial role in enhancing their well-being. When not at work, Charlotte enjoys trips to the theatre and going out for a meal with friends and family

Michelle has dedicated 13 years to her role as a Senior Healthcare Assistant at Tupwood Gate, where she excels in promoting the dignity and independence of the residents. Outside of work, she makes the most of her time by enjoying quality moments with her family and connecting with friends.
