Tupwood Gate Nursing Home provides exceptional care. The attentive, patient staff treat residents with dignity and respect, going above and beyond to meet their needs. The facility is spotless, with no unpleasant odors, and cleanliness is maintained to the highest standard.
A variety of engaging activities, including music, arts and crafts, and pet therapy, keep residents stimulated. Even bedbound individuals are included. The management team is professional, approachable, and committed to open communication with families.

My Nan moved here after a not-so-pleasant experience in her last care home, and our experience at Tupwood Gate has been nothing short of incredible. My Nan is incredibly well looked after, and I couldn't be happier with the standard of care she is receiving. I can only give the whole team at Tupwood Gate Nursing Home a 5 star recommendation. From the moment we phoned up desperate to get our Dad placed there due to a fall my mother had they were beyond great. Nothing was too much of an issue and they got us in late in the evening. All the staff that helped were brilliant. It was the first time for our dad and he was rightly quite anxious but again the staff were so good he felt right at home. Indeed, he asked for an extra week because he enjoyed it so much. Thank you Tupwood Gate.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Tupwood Gate, and for your recommendation. It is our privilege to care for your Dad and support the family at an important time. Best wishes to you and the family.
Mum was admitted to Tupwood Gate following a fall for rehab. Mum became very unwell and prepared for EOL care, all the care staff were so kind and empathetic during this time. Mum made a miraculous recovery and planned for discharge home. My sister and myself were made to feel like family, nothing was too much trouble and Mum was so well cared for, she has a great relationship with the staff. I am so grateful for the time spent at Tupwood Gate, I could be her daughter and was able to spend quality time with my lovely Mum. I can never thank the staff enough for all their kindness, support, laughter, sympathy and understanding. I was very sad the day Mum was discharged, I will really miss the staff, they really cared for Mum, as well as fantastic support from the management, they always made an effort to see Mum and check on her progress, what a brilliant team, if I had the choice I would have chosen for Mum to be cared for at Tupwood Gate as she loved her time there and will miss all the staff.
Thank you for your kind words about Tupwood Gate. We are so pleased to hear of the positive experience you had with our caring and compassionate team. It was our pleasure and privilege to care for your Mum and support the family.
The staff at Tupwood Gate took such wonderful care of my mother. The kindness of the staff was clear to see and my mother really was very happy there, prior to her passing. I can't thank the team enough and the deputy manager is an exceptional member of the team.

Fantastic care home! Kind, caring and compassionate staff who are always very helpful. Always very clean and well presented with great facilities for the residents. Room sizes are decent and overall everything seems to be of high quality, ie. Food/drink etc.
Thank you for taking the time to review Tupwood Gate. We're pleased to hear that you found the standard of staffing and care to be excellent. We know how hard it can be to make the decision to seek out a nursing home, and so are very happy to hear that you felt confident and reassured that Tupwood was the right place.
I can't thank Tupwood Gate management and staff enough for all the help and genuine care that they gave to my mum. Even though Mum was only there for 36 hours before sadly passing away, everyone treated her and my family with the utmost respect, understanding and all with the most gentle touch, as if we had known them for years, not days. My only wish is that Mum could have experienced everything that Tupwood has to offer. I highly recommend and rate Tupwood Gate.

It was a very difficult decision to put Mum in a care home but we couldn't have chosen better. The care Mum received was excellent. We appreciate the care and kindness shown to Mum from everyone at Tupwood - nurses, carers, housekeeping and maintenance teams. Thank you, Tupwood.

The staff could not have been more helpful, thoughtful, caring, kind, considerate, informative, and reassuring. First time I've needed respite for my mum as her carer I was in hospital myself and they did everything to help as I was very unwell and without communication from my end was difficult. They liaised with staff from hospital for me. I was able to not worry and just concentrate on getting myself better. Mum had a lovely stay and she is going back again next week while I go away for some rest myself before my surgery.
Thank you for taking the time to share these kind words about Tupwood Gate. We are really pleased to hear that with the support of the home, you have been able to focus on your own health and wellness knowing your mum is in safe hands. Wishing you all the best for your continued recovery.
Mum was cared for at Tupwood Gate during the last few months of her life. I commend all the staff on the care and kindness with which Mum was treated. As frequent visitors we got to know all of the staff including cleaners, maintenance, carers and nursing staff; without exception all were professional, friendly and understanding. The quality of GP support in the home was exceptional.

It was the first time I had taken a respite break and was very concerned. As soon as we were welcomed into this lovely care home I felt at ease. My husband was looked after with great care and kindness and the staff are so friendly and seem to go the extra mile. Lovely gardens and comfortable and warm.

As frequent visitors to the home over her stay our family were also welcomed into the “family” of Tupwood. Everyone knew us by name and knew who we were visiting, even from the start of her stay. We were informed of any significant events and if we had concerns these were handled with care and compassion. On occasion, we needed to talk to someone and have a shoulder to cry on. Senior staff were professional and so caring. When Mum eventually died, the care of her and us was wonderful and personal to our needs and wishes. This is an extraordinary home with extraordinary staff.

Mum occasionally said she would have liked more variety with the food, but I think changes had been made in the last few months she was there.
There were activities most days which Mum joined, she made friends with the other residents and, although happy to be going home, she will miss it there.

My mother lived at Tupwood Gate Nursing Home for the last year of her life. She was so happy there and loved all the wonderful staff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tupwood Gate.

Meet the Team (7)

I'm Busi and I joined Cygnet in 2003 as a care support worker. In the same year I was promoted to a senior care support worker and decided to complete my nurse training as a mental health nurse in Anglia Ruskin University. After completing the qualification, I returned to Old Leigh House to complete a preceptorship. After lots of training and building experience, I became the Registered Service Manager for the same service.
I then held a number of roles outside of the organisation to acquire more skills in nursing, including being a Registered Manager in a Nursing Home for the elderly. I returned to Cygnet in July 2020 as Service Manager at Old Leigh House. In 2024 I took on a new role as a Regional Manager where predominately supported Tupwood Gate Nursing Home, before becoming the Service Manager for Tupwood later that year.

I joined Tupwood Gate in November 2009 as a registered nurse, I was made deputy manager in December 2021. I enjoy providing our residents with the support they need to make their lives as enjoyable and as comfortable as possible with the dignity they deserve.
I enjoy supporting the staff team and take staff welfare very seriously. The thing I like most about Tupwood Gate is the teamwork and inclusivity. Everyone is treated with fairness and respect. We feel empowered by Cygnet to step up when we need to.

have been working at Tupwood Gate Nursing Home since November 2021. For most of my adult life I was employed in manufacturing, I studied engineering in the late 70s and early 80s. During a St. John First Aid course, I was inspired to consider a career change to nursing. I qualified as a nurse in 2014 having studied for a diploma at Surrey University.
Initially, I was employed in the acute sector before moving into adult rehabilitation and elderly frail care. Having been offered a position as a registered nurse at Tupwood Gate, I decided to commence working for Cygnet Health Care. What I like most about working at Tupwood Gate is that I get to know the residents and their families really well, something which has not always been possible in my previous nursing roles.
Working at Tupwood Gate is enjoyable: we have a good team here and the management is supportive of all staff. When I am not being a nurse I enjoy attempting cryptic crosswords, and visiting zoos and nature reserves, I have also been trying to learn Spanish for the last 30 years! I used to volunteer as a steward at Shakespeare’s Globe in London so theatre is another of my pastimes. Fun fact: my favourite animal is the Asian Short - Clawed Otter.

Carole is the catering manager and has worked at Tupwood Gate for 17 years - in this role for 15 years. Carole is a qualified chef and also studied patisserie. She likes to get to know the residents on a personal basis, understanding their like, dislikes and preferences. Tupwood cater for all manner of diets, including diabetic, vegetarian, gluten free and also any religious requirements. Carole looks forward to meeting all new residents and discussing their catering requirements.

Bobby started working for Tupwood Gate when he came to England from the Philippines in 2003, where he had just graduated as a Registered Nurse. At first he was working as the laundry assistant and then progressed to laundry and housekeeping manager. Dealing with staff allocations and ensuring that the Nursing Home always looked clean and smelled nice.
During his time at Tupwood, Bobby has assisted the staff in many ways, he drives the minibus and collects staff at the train station, assist all departments as and when needed. Bobby was offered the Maintenance Manager position a few years ago and this is his main role now, he deals with general maintenance of the building and garden areas. Bobby enjoys working at Tupwood Gate and the interaction with the staff and residents.

For the past two years, Charlotte has served as an Activities Coordinator at Tupwood Gate. She loves nothing more than seeing the residents smile, knowing that the entire team plays a crucial role in enhancing their well-being. When not at work, Charlotte enjoys trips to the theatre and going out for a meal with friends and family

Michelle has dedicated 13 years to her role as a Senior Healthcare Assistant at Tupwood Gate, where she excels in promoting the dignity and independence of the residents. Outside of work, she makes the most of her time by enjoying quality moments with her family and connecting with friends.
