When our 94-year-old mother became too ill to remain in her own home, within a week the manager and her care team were able to accommodate her at Wray Common. What a relief, Mum had been terminally ill for a long time and needed the expert care that Wray Common could provide. The manager and team were open, warm and welcomed Mum, she did find it difficult at first, but their years of experience ensured she was able to settle. They reassured her she was in the right place, putting my and the family's minds at peace. At this time an outbreak of Covid, but it was dealt with so professionally, with pre-arranged visiting time and then a flow test on arrival. All the care staff were very respectful, reassuring and caring towards my mum, who was a real fighter. We were able to visit anytime and were kept informed of her situation each time, the office door was always open. We cannot thank the wonderful team enough, for making a difficult time easier so we could just be with Mum/Nan/GG. Highly recommended.

Having cared for my wife until her condition deteriorated to the extent that she needed 24-hour care, I have arranged for her to come to the Wray Common after extensive research into homes in the area. She was welcomed warmly into a family environment and settled in very quickly. In the following months, she was given the best possible care from both carers and nurses as her condition (PSP and cancer) deteriorated quickly. I am grateful to all the staff at Wray Common for the care and love that they gave her.

Dad was at the home for a year with terminal cancer. The care and love he received was amazing. He was very happy there and the staff were so kind and caring. We felt welcome every time we visited and became part of the family. Towards the end, we could visit anytime for as long as we needed. They treated him with the utmost respect throughout his time there.

My mother has been at Wray Common for five years now. I have always found the staff to be cheerful and happy in their work. They have attended to Mum's needs in a caring and efficient manner. Mum's room is always clean. Mum has dementia which can make her behaviour rather unpredictable but this has not daunted the team. It has a very homely atmosphere. The staff have coped tremendously well with the extra demands that Covid has placed on them.

My dad loved his four years stay at Wray Common, and was the most relaxed and interactive for a long time. The team had engaged with Dad, and me in an open, honest and supportive discussion about end of life plans, so that when Dad fell ill with bronchial pneumonia, we could all focus on his care, well being and pain management. All the staff, including nurses, carers and support team displayed nothing but professionalism and support to Dad and our family so that during a difficult period of lockdown during the pandemic, the final days were made bearable for all of us. Dad was made comfortable and had a carer with him at the end, and I was able to visit a few days beforehand despite restrictions. They did a marvellous job - thank you.

My family and I will be forever thankful that we chose Wray Common Nursing Home for our mum. She settled in well and appeared relaxed and contented for the duration she was in their care. All the staff are lovely, everyone was friendly and polite and it was always a joy to visit Mum. Dad has already requested that he is to be sent to the same home, should the need arise. He misses everyone he met there, we thank you all.

The Wray Common Care Home completely changed our family’s view of nursing homes. They were, luckily, able to welcome our 98-year-old mother straight from the local hospital for end of life care. That was a real relief to us. All the staff constantly smiled and made us feel pleased that our mother was in such good hands for the specialist skilled nursing that she needed. Her bedroom was elegant, beautifully appointed with lovely views. It was similar to her room at home. We were able to visit whenever we wanted and to take personal items to make it feel more familiar. For the five weeks that our mother stayed at the Wray Common, we couldn’t have asked for kinder more constant care: we will never forget their friendship and reassurances. Thank you to the manager and all the wonderful team for all you did during that special time. Top marks to you all.

Wray Common was very clean, fully equipped and well run. The staff were very professional and appropriately qualified. My mother had a comfortable room and was very well cared for. The home paid attention to her needs, both practical and emotional. The staff were friendly, helpful and respected her wishes and needs. Most days she was able to enjoy the company of other residents for lunch and afternoon activities. If she did not feel up to this, she could have her meals in her own room. She was very happy there for her last year and died there with peace and dignity.

My Aunt's stay at this home made a great difference to her peace of mind and general wellbeing. The staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. My Aunt was glad to have the feeling of having her own private room and bathroom, she was glad to have friends visit and I was glad to be able to have tea and cake with my aunt.

The staff have been good to me also.

My aunt has been in the home since August 2018. We can visit any time of the day. Her room is bright and she can look out at trees. She is bedridden. She was very poorly when she went in, but now she looks brighter. On her 100th Birthday, she was presented with flowers and a beautiful cake with cream and strawberries from the staff.

She is being excellently looked after.

I am very happy with the care in this home, some of the decorations are a little shabby but the care and kindness showed to the residents and their families is good. My husband has been a resident for over two years and whilst he was able to participate in the daily organised activities we found them well planned, interesting and enjoyable. The care he receives is kind and caring and the staff are always helpful. My aunt has recently been in the home for 3 months until her death and she received much care and kindness during that time.

From the first day my mum entered Wray Common she was treated with respect, kindness and love, they were her family when we weren't able to be with her. She was offered the chance to sit in the lounge but Mum likes her own room and television and they respected her wishes. She did enjoy the parties and everyone who ever passed her door always spoke to her. Sadly she passed away in July, comfortable with dignity. As a family, we can't thank Wray Common enough.

I cannot fault the care and dedication of all the staff at Wray Common Nursing Home. My mother went to the care home in January 2017. My mother was very ill and we did not expect her to last long, however, due to the excellent care of the staff mother actually lasted 18 months. All staff offered the dignity our old people deserve and I would like to thank each and every one of them.
