Over time we saw the professional development of staff that indicated that this was seen as their career rather than 'just a job'. This was reflected in the excellent care and kindness shown by all the staff.
The rooms were large and were always kept clean.
Many activities were arranged for the residents, including outings to the seaside, that obviously took a lot of organising by the staff but the residents and their families clearly enjoyed the experience.
Perhaps the greatest accolade we can provide is that we felt comfortable and confident in entrusting the care of our father to the kind and professional staff and management at Ashton Manor.
Thank you for your feedback. It was our pleasure looking after your father. Our ongoing aim to provide high level person centred care. Your feedback keeps us motivated to do so.
My husband has been resident at Ashton Manor since last June and we think very highly of the staff and the care he has received. The hospital wanted us to arrange a room in a nursing home at short notice and this was quickly sorted out in a kind and helpful way. I visit frequently and have never heard a cross word, even when behaviour is challenging. All the family are made welcome to visit. My husband particularly likes access to the garden and enjoys the excellent food.
Thank you for the feedback. We aim to work alongside family and friends to achieved the best outcomes for those we care for.
I have volunteered for two years now, since the time my wife died. She was at Ashton Manor for five years. I volunteer because I want to repay, in however small a way, the very special level of care and kindness that she received. I too was always made welcome whenever I visited; and I still am, to the extent that I always look forward to a visit. Every member of staff is so friendly - and they all smile a smile which is always unforced and genuine. I would be totally disorientated if I no longer had reason to visit.
Thanks for the feedback Chris and thanks for contributing in your own special way to the Ashton Manor Team. You are always welcome.
My 90 year old mother has been at Ashton Manor for over 5 years and I have nothing but praise for all the staff who go out of their way to make the residents' lives as pleasant as possible with endless patience, friendliness and kindness. All the residents are treated with the greatest respect, and the staff are always smiley and friendly with family members and friends who visit. The management is exceptional too, which I think is why the staff all seem to enjoy their roles, and Ashton Manor is run very smoothly.
I really wouldn't hesitate in recommending Ashton Manor to anyone - we have absolutely no regrets in choosing it for my mum (during Covid when we couldn't even visit in person!).
The rooms are clean and the food is good and plentiful.
Thanks for the feedback Lucy. We are able to achieve this only through collaboration with yourselves and hope to maintain the relationship as such.
My friend has been a long term resident and I have been impressed over the years by the consistently high quality of care provided. The facilities are well maintained and bright and welcoming. The staff are always approachable and communicative. They have a good rapport with the residents and endless patience giving them self-determination whenever possible. Staff training and development is a particular concern of the management and this is reflected in the good retention rate, which aids the stability of the experience for residents. They have been very good at keeping me informed about medical developments and issues and have helped with form filling for financial and legal purposes.
Thanks for your feedback. We endevour to use this to consistently improve our service.
We had to find a suitable care home when my father was in hospital. Ashton Manor staff moved quickly to support us including a short notice visit and admission within days.
Since Dad has been resident, we have been impressed by all aspects of his care and management of the home. Staff appear to enjoy working there with ready smiles and a chat. Food is very good and plentiful.
We were new to the care environment, staff have supported us as a family to understand the system and tackle paperwork etc.
Residents are known well by the staff and cared for as individuals, adjusting to their needs and preferences. There is a good range of activities and services and occasional outings. A recent highlight for Dad was a huge cake and fuss for his birthday.
Thank you Ashton Manor - I don't hesitate to recommend you.
Mum moved to Ashton Manor in May 2022. During mum's 3 years at Ashton Manor she was treated with respect and understanding by all the staff.
As a family, we were welcomed in and every kindness shown to us, from the initial settling in process (which mum found difficult) to mum's final days. We were encouraged to make mum's room homely, placing favourite items around her and a smart speaker so she could listen to songs she loved. The manager or members of her team were always on hand to answer any queries or just give us a reassuring word when needed.
The care given to mum was exemplary, always with a gentle word, a smile and kindness. In my opinion mum could not have received more professional and dedicated care than she did at Ashton Manor.
A difficult time for all concerned was eased by the caring nature of the manager and her team.
I cannot fault the care given by the staff at Ashton Manor. They looked after my mum for 3 years with respect and kindness, allowing her to retain her dignity until the end of her life. She formed close bonds with the staff and went above and beyond to make her feel at home. They also looked after us, her family, especially at the end. We cannot thank them enough.
When we viewed Ashton Manor looking for a care home for my mother in law we instantly had a positive feeling about the home. Staff were all welcoming and friendly.
Ashton Manor is a listed building in a village and has pretty grounds. All the rooms are slightly different but all were clean and well equipped. My mother in law has settled in well and we have nothing but praise for the care she receives. We are always made to feel welcome when we visit.
Recently it was my mother in laws birthday and staff were really helpful in setting up a space in the garden where lots of us could visit at the same time to share tea and cake.
The only negative thing has been a problem with the lift which did limit my mother in law going downstairs for a little while. Staff did bring my mother in law down stairs manually in the very hot weather .
My mother in law always appears content and happy.
I felt warmly welcomed into Ashton Manor from the start. The staff were all kind, polite and caring. My father was well cared for in the short time he was with them. He was treated with kindness and respect and had regular checks on him to check on his needs he may require. The rooms were a good size, with an ensuite toilet or shower room. My dad's room looked over the beautiful garden. Unfottunately my dad was too ill to use the activities and facilities downstairs but looked well organised on our initial viewing. I would recommend anyone who is looking into care for any elderly relative to look at and consider Ashton Manor as there preferred choice. Lovely staff, wonderful care!
There are a wide range of activities, which can be adapted to individual needs and everyone is encouraged and helped to take part. All residents are known by their first names by all staff. Visitors are always acknowledged and welcomed.
Any issues that arise are quickly and efficiently dealt with and family members are Included in the decision making process. Nursing staff are always ready to discuss matters and take their time to explain concerns in detail and management are always on hand and easy to approach.
My mother stayed for a week's respite care. She was quite worried and reluctant to stay away from her home of over 60 years. She was treated extremely well by caring and attentive staff. After being so reluctant to stay anywhere, one of the first things she said after getting home was that she'd happily stay there again.
My father has one-to-one care at Ashton Manor Nursing Home. Whenever we visit with my mum, he is really well cared for, clean, the room is always clean and staff happy. There is always a sense of calm in the building and a big effort by staff to celebrate holidays, Halloween etc., with decorations and events. All staff are lovely and friendly, make us feel welcome. I know my father couldn't be in a better place and we feel lucky he is here.
When my husband first came to Ashton Manor Nursing Home, he was very unsettled and sometimes violent towards the staff. They were very patient and treated him with much care and compassion. He has dementia. He took a long time to settle. The staff worked hard to make him accept and be happy. Notifying me of any problems, mainly by phone - not in his hearing. We, the family, are extremely pleased with all the staff in this home. They always make us welcome when we visit and inform us of any problems as they arise. We are very happy he is in such good hands. He is very lucky but does no realise - but we do! We wish all elderly could have this amount of care and lovely, tasty meals.
The food is delicious and I can eat with my husband when I like.
I have no hesitation in recommending this care home.
It is clear that the staff are well trained, show understanding of resident's individual needs and respond to that.
I have no reservations in giving them five stars.
We have been really impressed with the quality of care at Ashton Manor. The staff are so responsive and caring, food served is of really high quality. Dad has been helped to personalise his room to his liking. Staff are always welcoming and we can visit freely. It's of great comfort to know your family member is somewhere so safe.
The staff were all wonderful and friendly. I would fully recommend this care home to others who are finding it difficult to choose a home for their loved ones. We felt like were part of a family and the support and care we received were second to none.
Everyone I visit the staff are welcome and friendly.
The nurses are very conscientious and now a new GP will visit weekly the care will be even better.
I feel my mother is definitely in the best place, especially with the lively garden which is beautifully maintained.
The staff at Ashton Manor Nursing Home work as a team, they are welcoming, attentive, caring and considerate. They keep you updated on what is going on and try to entertain all the residents with activities throughout the day. The meals smell delicious and are very healthy, and those who cannot feed themselves, they always make sure that they are eating or drinking properly and encourage in a kindly way. The residence is clean and tidy and everyone plays their part with excellence. Full marks for a great team who, most of the time, are happy and interacting with residents.

Meet the Team (12)

I have been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. I have worked in many different areas of nursing and have specialised in elderly care for the past 20 years at Beritaz Care. Following my General training in Jamaica. I have recently undertaken further training in Management. In my 20 years with Beritaz Care, the company has helped me to develop both as a person and professionally. I have been supported through my role as a Nurse to become Deputy Manager and now Manager. I love working in this field because I am passionate about what I do and I feel as a company Beritaz Care have that passion in achieving a high standard of care for the people we care for.

Susan joined the Ashton Manor team in May 2016 as a Support Manager. She has a background in care and was previously managing a care home for adults with learning disabilities. She takes real pride in her role and is passionate about promoting a positive and can-do attitude amongst the team so that everyone works together to enrich the lives of our residents delivering the sort of care that they themselves would want for their own family members. Susan says that one of the best things about working for Ashton Manor, part of the Beritaz Care family of care homes, is their culture of thinking ahead. She admires the fact that they are always thinking about continuous improvement of the service.

Care Worker of the Year - Surrey Care Awards 2023
I trained in hotel management in my native Slovakia, which gave me skills that have proved useful working here in the care home. I decided to become a care assistant after I spent more than a year caring for my grandmother in Slovakia; I also worked in a hospice. Both experiences have shaped my attitudes and approach, as well as my capabilities.
I’ve worked in Ashton Manor since 2005. During my time here, I’ve gained NVQ Level 2 qualifications in Health & Social Care and Nutrition and completed my Level 3 qualification in 2019. I was promoted to Senior Care Assistant in 2014 and then took on the Head of Care role in 2023. I feel the company gives us all the support we need to succeed. I love working with people. I always enjoyed helping and being part of their lives. I decided to be a carer and I am finding this job fulfilling.

After working at Ashton Manor for several years as a Registered Nurse, I have now taken on the role of Clinical Lead. I have worked in the care industry for some time, working in both private and county council care homes over the years. Working in care is something I always wanted to do and am passionate about. I feel satisfaction in the kind of care that residents get here and the knowledge that their needs are being fully met. As a part of Beritaz Care, I feel you get a lot of support. Amongst the carers and all the staff, there is a great culture of working hard and supporting each other. Everyone is aiming for the same thing, quality of care.
In my role as Clinical Lead, I am involved in audits, medication management and supervising the care and nursing teams. Having previously worked in a nursing role in the home, I have a good knowledge of how everything operates. I have worked on both the day and night shifts, so I have seen all elements of the home and understand what the staff are experiencing. My favourite part of working at Ashton Manor has always been working on the floor. It’s where I get to work directly with the residents which I have always enjoyed, so I try to do it as much as possible.

I have been working at Ashton Manor Nursing Home since 2016, initially as a Care Assistant before being promoted to Senior Care Assistant. With the support of my manager, I was able to embark on further training and have now taken on a role as a Registered Nurse. Being a nurse is one of the most challenging jobs but also very rewarding, that’s the main reason I choose to work in healthcare.
When I first started working at Ashton Manor I was very nervous, but grew to feel comfortable and confident thanks to the friendly welcome from the entire team that really made me feel a part of the team. I am really happy to be a part of the Ashton Manor and Beritaz Care family. I have been able to create close bonds with each resident and develop a real understanding of their needs. After each shift, knowing that I have shared my care, passion and love and that this has helped the residents to feel happy and satisfied, makes my day.

I have been a Registered Nurse for many years. I have worked in various parts of the world, including four years in a hospital in India, and five years as a hospital nurse in Saudi Arabia. I joined the Nursing team at Ashton Manor in 2009. The purpose of nursing is to promote health and healing and to prevent disease, illness, injury and disability. I enjoy my work. My company gives me full support to achieve my goal. I am very happy to be part of Ashton Manor Nursing Home.

In my role as Senior Care Assistant, I lead the care team and ensure our residents are receiving quality person-centred care and are always treated with dignity. I ensure that high standards are maintained by our team on every single shift, that is something that is very important to me. As part of my job, I also support the nurses with medication, helping the nursing team to make sure all our residents’ needs are met.
I have been a part of the Ashton Manor team since August 2023. I chose a career in the care industry because I am a compassionate person and wanted to do something meaningful. Working in care means I can support my family while feeling fulfilled in my work. I get a great deal of satisfaction from knowing I am helping vulnerable people and making a difference in their lives. I enjoy getting to come to work in such a homely environment, working with my amazing colleagues who all work well together and support each other.

I have been at Ashton Manor since December 2022, having previously worked within the care industry in Jamaica. I have a passion for helping people and making people feel happy. That’s why a career in care felt like the right path for me.
On a daily basis, my role at the home is focused on ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our residents, as well as my colleagues. I like working at Ashton Manor as we are like one happy family with a shared goal. My favourite part of my job is putting a smile on everyone’s faces. I enjoy knowing that what I do helps people. Working at Ashton Manor and as a part of the Beritaz Care group, I feel I have been given the chance to grow within my job and as a person.

I have been working at Ashton Manor since September 2024, and it has been a rewarding experience. My journey in the care industry began in 2022 while I was still a student. Although I hold a Master’s degree in Marketing and Communication from a UK university, I’ve always felt a deep calling to work in the care industry — a field where I can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. As a Care Assistant, my role involves supporting residents with daily activities and personal care, as well as looking out for their emotional wellbeing. The most fulfilling part of my job is connecting with the residents, I enjoy listening to their stories and bringing a smile to their faces.
Joining Beritaz has been a transformative experience. It’s a place where diversity is celebrated, individuality is respected, and professional growth is encouraged. I’m grateful to work with a supportive team that values hard work and collaboration. Beritaz also offers excellent training programs that have enhanced my skills and broadened my understanding. I am truly thankful to be part of the Beritaz family and look forward to continuing to grow both personally and professionally.

I've spent over 20 years in the catering industry, and have been head chef at Ashton Manor since 2013. I hold an NVQ Level 2 in Professional Catering, and I'm fully trained in Health and Safety in the Workplace and Health and Nutrition. As head chef, my job entails catering to special dietary needs, some of which are a bit 'out of the box' but we work alongside the management to get this right.
I enjoy my job and get great satisfaction when receiving good feedback from residents and families. The company is consistently giving me opportunities to improve with different courses available.

Hi I’m Tina and I have been working at Ashton Manor Nursing Home since November 2011 in various ancillary roles, mainly as one of the kitchen assistants but sometimes covering the chefs when they are on leave and occasionally the laundry. I have previous experience working in these types of roles having worked for the NHS, mainly in elderly care.
Ashton Manor is a great place to work, it is family-orientated, and everyone works well together as a team. The managers are very helpful and supportive but the biggest reward I receive each day is being with the residents, chatting with them and seeing them smile back at me.

I started working at Ashton Manor in 2019, I knew nothing about the care industry but I had a caring heart. I first started working as a Care Assistant and learned a lot during that time. Ashton Manor has always supported me with training opportunities and constructive feedback, which helped me to develop my skills. Two years after I started in this role I was promoted to Senior Care Assistant, it was a great experience and came with more chances to learn and grow.
I have now taken on the role of Home Administrator, having worked previously as an administrator this is a position I feel well prepared for. I am excited about this new opportunity and for the challenges and new experiences it comes with. At Ashton Manor, I can really say that I feel valued and that here opportunities come to you when you put your best effort in. I am thankful for all the opportunities given to me, to grow both professionally and personally.
