My mother spent three very happy years at Claydon House. The staff are fantastic, and hardly any turnover of staff. This is important that the same people provided her care. Communication with me was excellent. I would rate Claydon House as outstanding in every aspect.
Reply from Rhiannon Freeman-Gray, Review Team at Claydon HouseThank you so much for your kind words, which mean a lot to all of us. My mother has been at Claydon House for just over 2 months and we are all very pleased with the care she is receiving. All of the carers, nurses and support staff are so kind, they always take time to talk and reassure her. The managers are very efficient and information is shared well amongst the staff.
The food is good and plentiful but could be served a little hotter. There is a never ending supply of hot drinks, biscuits and cake. Regular activities are organised twice a day and are good fun. The whole house is tastefully decorated and clean. Laundry is done promptly and with care. I would certainly recommend Claydon House for your loved one.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, Reviews Team at Claydon HouseThank you for your thoughtful review. We're delighted to hear your mother has settled in well and that you're pleased with the care and support from our team. We appreciate your feedback regarding the temperature of the meals and will share this with our kitchen team. Your kind recommendation means a great deal to everyone at Claydon House.

Claydon House have been excellent in caring for Mum at short notice after her fall and need for respite care. From the start, they made everything easy, visiting her at home to assess her needs and ensure they could provide the right environment. They chose a room that suited her well and gave us confidence
in the care she would receive. Visiting is flexible, and we are always made to feel welcome and able to join activities and meals. The house is clean, well-appointed, and her en-suite room has a lovely view and good access to shared spaces. Staff helped her set up the room comfortably and encouraged her to bring familiar items from home. Mum has made good progress, is settling well, enjoys chatting with other residents, and is treated with kindness and dignity. She says she likes the home, and we can see she is regaining her mobility. The management and staff are friendly and work hard to make Claydon feel like a home while offering high-quality nursing care.
Reply from Rhiannon Freeman-Gray, Divisional Marketing Manager at Claydon HouseThank you so much for this lovely review! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. It's great to hear that your mum has settled in so well and that her mobility is improving. If there's ever anything more we can do to support you or her, please just ask!

My father has been at Claydon House for just over a month and the staff have been so supportive, answering our numerous questions and taking time to help Dad settle. He is enjoying the food so much he has put on weight! I feel so reassured that he is being well cared for in a calm, kind and gentle environment.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Claydon HouseThank you for your lovely feedback. Lesley and the entire team at Claydon House Care home are amongst some of the kindest and most supportive people I've ever met. My mother needed a two week respite care which we were able to sort out in just a few days allowing my mother to move in quickly. The team have all been brilliant and supported
my mother where I am 130 miles away in the middle of the country. They have looked after her every need including helping her with some minor medical issues. The whole service from initial contact to checkout has been 5 star, I'd give them more but the scale doesn't go that far.
Thank you again to you all and have a wonderful Christmas.
Reply from Rowen Campbell, on behalf of the team at Claydon HouseWhat kind words, thank you! Thanks too for taking the time to write us a review and share your experience of Claydon House. I have visited friends and relatives in many care homes but never have the words care and home been more fitting. The staff are welcoming, professional and clearly have the best interest of the residents in their care. The residents were all engaged in conversation or activities and no one looked lonely
or unhappy. This is clearly a home well managed and run but felt like a home and not an organisation. If you are looking for somewhere for a loved one do go and have a look around Claydon House. You won't be disappointed.
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, on behalf of the team at Claydon HouseThank you for your thoughtful feedback. My first visit to a loved one today. Claydon House was beautifully presented. The Staff were super. We were offered coffee on arrival. Our loved one was clearly being well looked after in a beautiful room which was clean, warm and personalised.
When a person you love is vulnerable and needs to be cared
for it is a stressful and scary time...but when you meet staff with warm smiles and time for you....it means the world. Thank you. Xx

I really enjoy visiting my friend. Her room is beautiful with enough of her possessions for her to feel it is her home. It has a stunning view of tree tops as the shared sitting room next door also has. Quite often her friends join in our conversations, and staff ply us with tea and delicious cakes
made in the kitchen. Long term staff have imaginative and caring relationships with her. Often they lay on interesting activities e.g. surveying and discussing a range of contemporary magazines, and I have attended stunning musical recitals with her.

In my experience this is an excellent care home. From the first contact, when enquiring for my father, I felt listened to and cared for. It was a very difficult time for us both and the wonderful people at Claydon House immediately responded to support us. Dad is thriving in this beautiful environment
and from the very first day said he felt at home. And the meals are delicious too.

Having had a severe stroke earlier in the year, nothing more could be done at the stroke unit so we needed to find a care home. From the first meeting, we were so impressed with the team and facilities. We had some complications with the admission but the team stepped in and managed this for us. Snice
moving in the change to our mum has been incredible. She has a special chair to allow her some freedom to move around the home and in the short time being there she looks so much better. The staff are amazing, friendly and always greeted with a smile.

Claydon House has brought my mother some peace. Her room is always immaculate and she is well cared for. The greatest asset Claydon House has are the staff. The people caring for my mother are warm, kind, attentive and efficient. My one issue is that they are very overworked. There should be more support
for the staff and they should never have to work alone for periods of time. I think it is an incredibly demanding job and the well being of the carers should be at the forefront because the happier they are the happier the home is. I would recommend Claydon House. It has been a lovely place for my mother to be.

I want to express my appreciation for the whole team at Claydon House. My mother and I looked at several nursing homes in and around the region, and we instantly came to the decision that Claydon House felt the most homely not only in terms of the place itself, but, more vitally, with respect to the
staff themselves. They are all attentive, caring, warm and compassionate and treat my mother as an individual rather than a patient. Her room here has become a version of her home beyond Claydon House. This level of respect and attention for who she is as a person is so important for her well-being. I live abroad, but feel reassured that my mother is in such good hands at Claydon House while I'm away. The team here are all doing such important work; I cannot thank you all enough for taking such care of mum.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.828) out of 10 for Claydon House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.828 for Claydon House is calculated as follows: ( (204 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 239 Ratings = 4.828
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Claydon House is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
