You all looked after my mother over 4 months until she passed away on 30th December 2020. Through lockdown you sent pictures on her birthday, she was happy and relaxed. You all made her last months of life a happy time. Thank you all.

The care of my mum during her stay has been exceptional, despite the extremely trying circumstances that the Covid pandemic has brought. The care staff, from the nurses, care staff, cleaners, cooks and everyone else have been consistently cheerful, professional, kind and friendly. My mum has dementia,
and her condition is sometimes very challenging, but this is always met with good natured kindness by the staff. I'm so grateful she's at Hailsham House.

I was really surprised to see how lovely the staff at Hailsham House are. I was coming to visit an old friend of mine and I was really happy to see her smiling and being so happy, I enjoyed myself.
The activities that day was really nice and all the staff were so kind, they asked me if I wanted a cup
of tea/coffee to enjoy with my lovely friend. We were enjoying the time together also outside in the garden.

Very friendly and supportive of mum and ourselves. The room moved to downstairs and within sight of the nurses' station much better as mum tends to wander during the early hours. One particular carer especially worthy of note as mum spends a lot of time with her and really benefits from her time.

I am really pleased with the level of care my uncle is receiving. I have spoken with the management team on several occasions, who I found approachable and professional. The home is very clean, and the care staff are also so helpful. I would recommend this home to all. Gardens are beautiful too, and
it is great to see that the home has organised garden therapy.

My wife recently had a one week stay for respite care. The room was excellent being extremely spacious and well appointed.
They were very helpful in catering for her needs with regard to an air mattress and a hoist for getting in and out of bed. They even managed to put a fridge in the room for her
chilled drinks and snacks.
The staff were very friendly and looked after her very well.

I write this review with regards to Holly Unit where my late father was cared for 5 years. The care and attention that all staff showed my father was amazing and they treated him as an individual and with the utmost respect. I never felt that dad was just left sat in his chair alone as they used to
talk to him and give him the love and care that he deserved.

My husband's appetite has become extremely poor. In consultation with the manager and chef, and in conjunction with the GP we have decided to offer finger food meals. The chef is always open to ideas. He has provided just what I've suggested and my husband's appetite is picking up again.

First impression clean and tidy. Staff very friendly and attentive. Was shown Uncle's room without any hesitation and found very clean and tidy. We visited on a Thursday afternoon and whilst leaving, a guy was setting up to perform music and songs which I thought was fantastic for residents to relate
with i.e. memory joggers etc.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.535)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.535) out of 10 for Hailsham House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.535 for Hailsham House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (194 Excellents x 5) + (89 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 301 Ratings = 4.535
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hailsham House Care Home is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 119 registered maximum number of service users is 23.8, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
