I have been visiting Coppice Court Care Home for about 18 months in connection with PARCHE. A colleague and I lead a short service with hymns and prayers once a month for some of the residents.

On the whole, the care provided is very good. Had concerns at first that my mum was left in bed but she seems to generally in the lounge now.

When left in bed, she didn't appear to get a drink in the afternoon.

Staff are very good, sometimes there doesn't seem to be many staff on when needed. Yes they always make the resident comfortable. Sometimes there is dust in the room. Security is very good.

Very nice building/rooms/garden. Food good, office/admin good.

Excellent care when given. Frequent staff shortage led to dangerously low levels on one occasion.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Coppice Court Care Home

Thank you for your positive feedback regarding the Home overall. In relation to your comment regarding low levels of staffing, we have put strategies in place to prevent such an episode happening again.

My mother went into Coppice Court, Eastbourne, for my respite from 5th - 15th September. I have worked as an Intensive Care nurse but I have never experienced such dedication, warmth and professional staff as I did at Coppice Court. Please pass on my gratitude to all the staff. Thank you.

My mother-in-law is in this home due to having Alzheimers and is in end of life care.
Both myself and my wife (daughter of resident) feel that the staff are very conscientious and caring towards my mother-in-law and to us.

We feel very happy that she is in this home and are grateful to all of the staff and thankful for their continued care and support to all of us.

During my three month stay, I have been very impressed by the intelligent standard of management. The care assistants have been the backbone of my experience here - unfailingly cheerful and kind, making a healing atmosphere - my progress has been excellent. The nurses are also friendly and I feel buoyed up by all this good will. Food varied from very good to okay. Strict cleanliness standards. The above comments have been consistent, truly a care home throughout my stay.

My mother has been in Coppice Court since August 2015. I have found the care given to her as very kind and professional by all the staff. I live in the New Forest in Hampshire so I am not able to respond very quickly if there is a problem. Since my mum has been in Coppice Court I have built a good relationship with all the staff and I have great respect for them, I class them as my friends as well.

Review from I C (Son of Resident) published on 21 November 2016 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

The home in the last 3 years of late, had a very low turnover of staff which in my view tended to reflect a well-run home where staff were happy and this had a similar effect on the residents. This changed of late, albeit some of the long serving staff are still working here. I feel elderly residents are happier with people they get to know and the aim should be to try and retain staff. Clearly, this is in the main, a management issue. This said, I feel that current staff work hard and the home is of a very good standard. I would recommend.

Weekdays always a happy atmosphere, often singing, a lot of smile. Staff always speak even during busy times. Weekends fewer staff, less activities, often found mother in bed at weekend.
