I visit a friend in The Laurels he can be a very difficult man sometimes and I feel the staff are really tolerant towards him. I think The Laurels is a very good place to be, peaceful and happy. I feel that at the end of life The Laurels is a caring, compassionate nursing home.

My mother was treated with great kindness and compassion over the 3 year period she was at the home, suffering from increasing dementia and other health-related problems. She was well fed and hydrated right to the end, peacefully passing away this month. I am grateful to the staff who treated her so well. It was such a relief to see she was so well cared for. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Laurels.

I was so grateful that The Laurels was recommended to me especially as I do not live in Sussex so local knowledge was limited. I am a trustee for a retirement home and have a recently retired nurses hat on. My first impressions of The Laurels was very positive, the building, but more importantly the staff, particularly the matron. Since visiting and becoming more acquainted, nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they are always welcoming, abundant smiles and I feel they all enjoy working there. They show respect and dignity to their residents, there is a calm but cheerful atmosphere in an immaculate environment and gardens. Just a small observation and request, maybe more consistent thought could be given to the kind of music that is played in the sitting room. It is a generational thing and, of course, no type fits all, but appropriate music can be such a pleasure. Thank you so much for all your wonderful supportive care which is even more reassuring when not living close.

The Laurels provides an excellent setting with really caring staff.

We appreciate the 24/7 access, so bringing Mum home for New Year's Eve is not a problem.

The Laurels appears to be a well-run nursing home in mainly modern facilities. The staff always seem to be very busy and sometimes the resident’s alarms do appear to be sounding for some time, presumably because staff are tied up elsewhere. The staff all seem very pleasant & my uncle appears to be happy there.

My mum has only been here a couple of months and we are very pleased with the home. In that time she has looked so cared for and so clean and each day is eating well. I have no worries about how it will continue. The staff and each one are brilliant.

I have been regularly visiting a friend at The Laurels since their arrival and I have been very happy to see various activities taking place, especially in the run-up to Christmas. Activities were listed for residents and family in their special Christmas brochure, which contains events such as a pantomime, Xmas sing-along, several choirs and a puppet show, which I attended and the residents seemed to thoroughly enjoy. Staff are always good-humoured and professional and my friend is well cared for. The atmosphere is welcoming and caring.

I am very pleased with the care I receive but I am concerned about the length of time it takes for any medical procedures or advice to be acted upon or even disclosed.

Reply from Sally Bossom, Business Administration Manager at The Laurels Care Centre

Our local GP visits the home every two weeks and deals with non-urgent medical matters during his round and we have found this to be a very effective way of maintaining good continuity of care for all of our residents. We do not, however, have the authority to insist on extra visits except in the...

My father was referred to The Laurels Nursing Home in February 2017 and sadly passed away in July 2017. He was not an easy man to look after as he was suffering from prostate cancer which he had fought for nine years but The Laurels did a fantastic job and gave him pleasure and dignity. We can not thank The Laurels enough.

My husband spent his last 5 dying days in this nursing home.
The family were very pleased with the way he was cared for and the staff most sympathetic to me and the family.

During this traumatic time, I would personally choose this venue if it were for myself.

I brought my uncle down from Basingstoke after he had a severe stroke. He spent the last 3 months of his life at The Laurels.

He was happy and everyone there was lovely to both him and myself. It was a lovely end to a very long and happy life (97 years). Thank you to all at The Laurels.

A lovely place, well kept and cared for, very clean and good facilities. Staff are excellent and always smiling and friendly and always speak to you in the corridors etc. Always popping in to make sure Mum is OK and not needing anything. I think we were very lucky to be offered a place there for her.

Really impressed with The Laurels Nursing Home. Had to transfer dad from another home which was closing and The Laurels Nursing Home is a million times better. The only thing dad complains about is that he has lost some of his Freeview channels on his TV! If they could sort that out then it would be perfect!

My grandfather came to The Laurels Nursing Home from the hospital 2 months ago. He suffered a broken hip and only started to recover since he came here. Staff are very caring and help him with all his needs in a very friendly manner. I am very pleased that he is being cared for so well.
