The Laurels Care Centre is delightfully situated just off the main road, just a short distance from the picturesque Old Town of Hastings and the seafront, with its unique fishing heritage and wide pebble beaches.

The Laurels is a well established and homely nursing home, offering the highest standard of care and comfort. The Laurels provide long or short stays, continuing or respite care.

Care at the Laurels is overseen by a registered manager and a clinical lead nurse who, together with all staff, is committed to ensuring that the privacy, independence and freedom of choice of residents are always observed. Staff value each and every individual who comes to live at The Laurels. All residents are assured they will be treated with respect and dignity, according to their individual needs and wishes.

The Laurels offers a mixture of bedrooms in comfortably furnished rooms, the majority with having en-suite facilities. To make the rooms as much like home as possible, residents are encouraged to bring personal items, such as pictures, ornaments and small pieces of furniture. There is also a double room available for couples.

The Laurels provides the little things that can be important to a good quality of life. A dedicated life-enrichment team arranges a wide range of activities. The Laurels also has an on-site hairdresser.

The Rochester wing provides additional facilities which include two large lounges with large widescreen TV, connected by an atrium, a quiet lounge, hairdressing salon and premium bedrooms, some of which give direct access to their own private garden or the communal/sensory gardens with shrubs and raised flower beds.

The Laurels welcomes potential residents and / or relatives to come and visit to see the home and all that it can offer.

My mother in law is really happy in her home and I think she is being looked after really well. There have been the usual problems regarding staffing, which are reflected nationally. Many of the staff that my mother in law had got to know well have, unfortunately, left. She has found this difficult
at times especially when they were not allowed any visits. I have always found the management to be helpful and efficient in dealing with any issues that have arisen.

I have had several instances where communication has been an issue between myself and the management, I find that sometimes you are not listened to or ignored completely. My wife's personal items such as pyjamas, towels and face flannels are constantly disappearing, an issue which I expect happens
in a lot of care homes, but it is never the less annoying. On one occasion I was charged for something which my wife had neither had or required. When I questioned this I was told it was a mistake, on another I was not told that my wife required more toiletries so had to rush out and get replacements. I feel that these items should have been included by the home anyway as the room rates are quite high. I cannot fault however the attention to detail of the nursing side of the home, I am always informed of problems that my wife has had whether it be with medication, falls or her general well being.

Following a diagnosis of prostate cancer eleven years ago (PSA 1301) I was admitted to the Laurels Nursing Home in January 2022 - fast track discharge from the hospital - this further to extensive radiotherapy, chemotherapy and four major operations. I wish to place on record that care and social interaction
with the staff has been exemplary, quite beyond reproach. It has been much appreciated by me when contemplating a new chapter of life cycle. Very many thanks.

When my mother was admitted to the Laurels from hospital, it was with the expectation that she would not live more than a few months. I believe that the fact that she exceeded that expectation by 18 months is testament to the standard of care that she received. For much of that time, unfortunately,
it was not possible to visit her because of covid restrictions. However, when I did visit, it was clear that she was in very good hands. She had a bright airy room and both she, her clothes and her surroundings were clean. She was comfortable, despite being bed-bound for most of the time. Whenever I spoke to staff either face to face, on the phone, or during video calls, there was evidence of friendly affection towards my mum. I know I made the right choice in selecting the Laurels as the place to care for my mum, once we made the decision that we could no longer look after her ourselves. I highly recommend them to families looking for a friendly, professional nursing home for their loved one.

My Aunty was well looked after here. I live up north and it was hard for me to get to her but the Laurels home never dismissed the telephone. Every week I would ring her and speak to her, she was always surprised to hear my voice (it was always 'hello treasure'). When I had the chance to see her, it
was very warm and welcoming. I work in a care home myself and I know how hard it is for family members to see their loved ones in a home. For me, this was easy here. She was looked after when I went to see her and she was always smiling and happy. Unfortunately, we lost her in December 2020, knowing she had people who looked after her there for her last moments was peace of mind. Thank you for your hard work and the care you show to your residents.

The Laurels have been amazing at looking after my dad, he has only recently become a resident and loves it already.

I visit a friend in The Laurels he can be a very difficult man sometimes and I feel the staff are really tolerant towards him. I think The Laurels is a very good place to be, peaceful and happy. I feel that at the end of life The Laurels is a caring, compassionate nursing home.

My mother was treated with great kindness and compassion over the 3 year period she was at the home, suffering from increasing dementia and other health-related problems. She was well fed and hydrated right to the end, peacefully passing away this month. I am grateful to the staff who treated her so
well. It was such a relief to see she was so well cared for. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Laurels.
