Overall Experience

Our mother moved to Adelaide House in December after a time in Hospital. From the moment we stepped into Adelaide House we were impressed at how all the staff made us feel so welcome. Mum has been independent for 95 years and we knew this was going to be a difficult move for her, all the staff have shown her kindness and given her time to adjust and settle into her new surroundings. Nothing has been too much trouble and they show so much compassion and dignity towards all their residents, it's been a humbling experience. It's good to see Mum relaxed and smiling again. I would highly recommend Adelaide House for your loved ones.

Our father moved to Adelaide House in mid-November. From the moment he was welcomed in, he was taken care of so well and thoughtfully, the staff could not do enough for him. The week after he moved there he celebrated his 99th birthday and the staff decorated his room, made a 99 cake and sang Happy Birthday to him! It was a wonderful day for him, also I got to see him out of bed which I hadn't seen since January 2024 as he had been bedbound in the intervening months. He settled in so well but sadly died 2 weeks after moving to Adelaide House. Again the care at this sad time was superb, I stayed with him throughout the night and the nursing staff were so supportive then and afterwards when we came to empty his room. I would not hesitate to recommend Adelaide House for the wonderful care they gave our father in his last weeks of life.

All the staff are really friendly and helpful. Adelaide runs like clockwork and all the rooms are clean. They arrange various activities for those who wish to join in and cater for individual needs. I used to visit once a week with my Therapy dog Willow who the residents loved. I was made very welcome and it was nice to chat to the residents about their history and past. There is no shortage of food they are very well looked after at Adelaide House Nursing Home.

Adelaide House is a great care home. Dignity is at the heart of everything they do. They always display care and sensitivity towards the residents and are eager to help them maintain as good a quality of life as is possible. They run activities often, including visitors to the home and trips out for those who can go. They also hold various parties and events throughout the year including a summer garden party and a Christmas cocktail party (with raffle prizes!). My dad has been a resident, following a stroke, since 2004, and throughout that time, they have done their best to support and care for him.

Our 95-year-old Dad moved to Adelaide House in July 2024 after a 4-month stay in hospital following two strokes. Before his strokes, Dad had been living independently in his own home, so we were unsure how well he would take to living in a residential care setting.
We are delighted that he has settled in so well at Adelaide. The staff are attentive and kind, and in his own words he says 'They can't do enough for me'. He loves his room, the food, and the level of care he receives. We visit regularly but are kept informed of any issues Dad might have.

We are more than satisfied that he is very well cared for and that his needs, both medical and practical are met. We would not hesitate to recommend Adelaide House to anyone seeking residential care for a friend or family member.

My mother was admitted to Adelaide house from hospital and was sadly only in there for just under a month but the time she spent there was first class. management and all the staff were so caring, kind, patient and supportive of my mum's needs. They communicated with the family at all times and always went that extra mile to make sure Mum was happy.
The family can't thank them enough!

A wonderful home!

A close neighbour and friend of over 40 years was placed here post-Covid, after spells in hospital. She remained in residence for over 3 years. She was mentally capable but immobile. Although needing to be hoisted whenever she was moved, she was treated with caution and sensitive care. The staff were always welcoming and met all our needs. Even in her last week our friend had commented how happy she was at the home and she liked the people and staff she interacted with.

Many thanks to all staff at the home.

My mother entered Adelaide House last November on palliative care, aged 95 and with an unstable neck break. Despite having demanding needs, the nurses have provided her with the specialist care and attention she has needed. Moreover, all the staff have worked tirelessly to help her adjust to this new phase in her life and to provide her with loving support and the stability needed, after having spent the previous 7 months of her life in a number of different hospitals and rehab units.

We are extremely grateful to have found such a caring and compassionate nursing home, that reflects the professional standards of its staff!

My mum moved to Adelaide House at the very end of December 2024 after an 8 week stay in hospital. From the moment she arrived, it was clear that this was the right choice for her.
The care and attention she receives from the staff is second to none. They are incredibly professional, compassionate and attentive.
It's evident that the staff genuinely care about the residents, this gives me such peace of mind knowing that she is comfortable, safe and very well cared for.
When we visit the staff are always very friendly and can't seem to do enough to help, and nothing seems like too much trouble.

I have already recommended Adelaide House to one of my friends to look at for a member of their family.

My aunt was end of life when transferred from the hospital 10 weeks ago so we always knew that her time was limited. The whole team there from management down, ensured that she really felt loved and cared for, so much so that my aunt believed she was residing in her bedroom at her own home.

Words are not enough to express our gratitude towards the wonderful and amazing team. The nurses work tirelessly with true vocation. We were always made to feel so welcome and in an often dark world, they were a beacon of hope. My aunt was looked after as if she were part of their family. She was cleaned and changed every day and always looked so fresh, happy and comfortable. Nothing was ever too much trouble. When she passed suddenly a few days ago it was calm and peaceful and she was treated with dignity. The staff showed us warmth and compassion. We were so fortunate that my aunts last days were spent in such a lovely place.

When she decided she was no longer able to look after herself in her flat, my Mum chose Adelaide Nursing Home as what she knew would be her final home. That was 15 months ago, and she was in her early 90s.

During her time in Adelaide Mum enjoyed various activities, and visits from entertainers, their Summer Garden Party was a highlight. Volunteers also brought in various animals including a Shetland pony, which all added interest. Mum had a number of health issues which were either managed solely by the lovely nursing team or by them after consulting with her doctor. Treatment was swift and I was always kept informed. Without exception, all of the staff I came across were very welcoming and happy to help where they could, which was very reassuring for me. When my Mum passed away, the staff informed me straight away and dealt with both my Mum and me with sensitivity.

Mum had been at Adelaide House for nearly three years. I don’t live nearby but felt very confident they would look after her. I can’t fault the care and immediate attention and treatment she received when needed. Mum chose not to take part in downstairs activities as she preferred to stay in her room, and her wishes were respected, but she loved the visits from the dogs!
The team were so kind, and when Mum passed away, they did everything they could to make things easier for Mum, and me.

Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lovely care home.

I'm a volunteer and I come in with my therapy pony. Firstly, it's not every home that can be bothered with this kind of thing but we could not be more welcomed by staff and residents alike! It's so clean with a lovely atmosphere. Might even put my name down for when needed.

I have worked at Adelaide since November 2021 and I love every minute of my job! I've come from mainly an administrative background, but this is my first role within a care home. As soon as I stepped into the home

I sensed what a warm, friendly, caring home it is.

I am the first port of call for all visitors to the home such as relatives, friends, nurses and tradespeople and I keep all the administrative paperwork up to date. The best part about my job is interacting with the lovely residents and seeing them enjoy the wonderful activities we have on offer.
