Mum went into the home for respite but ended up staying. She has a lovely room, which we are slowly making hers with photos, plants and nick-nacks from home. She has settled really well and all the staff are really lovely to her and us. For an independent lady who never wanted to leave home, she now
refers to Caer Gwent as her home.

My mum has been a resident of Caer Gwent Care Home for over seven months now and she is receiving genuine and compassionate care. She has not been too well for the majority of her stay but throughout the staff have been so patient and caring. They really go the extra mile and nothing is too much trouble.
They have adapted well to her changing needs and are extremely attentive and considerate. Mum is clearly very happy in the home and loves the warm and friendly atmosphere. She particularly enjoys the many activities and is very fond of several members of the staff. Everyone seems to know her name and she just seems like one of the family. It's a pleasure to visit her and see how well she is being cared for. Thank you!

My dad has settled so quickly and so well at Caer Gwent Care Home with the excellent care provided, the staff have been brilliant. He is very much enjoying the meals, finding them very good, for example, he recently opted to have an omelette which was one of the best he had ever had. In addition, he
has made friends. The facilities are excellent. My dad has lost none of his independence and has gained so much from being there and from the amazing activities.

Mum has received excellent care and attention since moving to Caer Gwent at the beginning of September. They really welcomed her into their family. The staff are amazing and go out of their way to assist Mum with her every need. The food is varied, appetizing and well-balanced and the staff always ensure
Mum has had plenty to eat. There are daily activities which are very well coordinated and Mum enjoys taking part regularly. I feel completely at ease now when I leave Mum after a visit, knowing that she is in good hands. Many thanks to the manager and all the staff for really looking after my mum.

It was my uncle's decision to move to a care home in August 2022. From day one, he and the family were made to feel comfortable and very welcome. During the six-week initial period, my uncle became quite challenging but the wonderful staff remained kind and understanding. My uncle has now settled and,
with the support, is overcoming the difficulties he found in the change to his life. This is all thanks to the care given and shown.

Dad was a resident for seven and a half years after suffering a catastrophic illness that left him with a severe disability. Dad received excellent care. This was challenging for the staff but they always carried on. His laundry was looked after, he had a fabulous choice of food and staff were knowledgeable
about how to meet and what his particular needs were. Staff were kind, caring, empathic, supportive and welcoming.

We have been very impressed with all aspects of Guild Care. Our first contact with customer services was very positive and everyone at Caer Gwent Care Home has been great. Our mum arrived in June after having a stroke and bleed and we have been blown away by the quality of care and compassion she has received so far. All the staff are friendly and kind, not only to Mum but also to us as visiting relatives. I feel really relaxed going to visit as they are so welcoming.
They have a good amount of regular, varied activities which is great for resident interaction which is so important while there's no pressure on residents to participate if they don't want to. The home is light and airy with lovely decor and the garden area is great especially for anyone who's missing being able to get outside into their own garden. It's reassuring for us that Mum is safe and being well looked after by all staff including the nursing team while at the same time having good interaction, banter and some fun along the way.

In my opinion, this nursing home is exceptionally well run and its carers are both friendly and attentive at all times. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Congratulations must go to the administrative staff for running such a welcoming environment.

Caer Gwent Care Home has a wonderfully warm and friendly atmosphere and my mum feels very well-loved and happy there. Her face lights up when she sees the staff, which says it all. I have complete peace of mind. She is exceptionally well cared for, especially taking into consideration her changing needs
over the last few years. Staff are attentive, extremely efficient and have taken the trouble to really get to know Mum and to know how to ensure the best quality of life for her. There is really no praise high enough for their hard work, infinite kindness and thoughtfulness. Thank you so very much to you all.

My mother has settled into Caer Gwent very well, management and staff have made Mum feel welcome. Each member of the team is friendly, helpful and focused on ensuring Mum's needs are met and any required changes (such as after a recent room move) are swiftly made. Furnishings are of a high standard,
the rooms are well decorated and maintained. Mum's quality of life has greatly improved, she enjoys the varied activities, has made friends and is enjoying the well-cooked meals. We feel reassured that she’s happy, safe and well cared for.

After some falls in her flat early in October 2021, I needed somewhere quickly to get respite for my mother (92) and Caer Gwent Care Home were able to react quickly. Things have gone so well that it was decided she would stay long-term. Since then, she has really loved living there. In particular, the
activities and the available company has given her a better quality of life and appears to be mitigating the effects of early dementia.
From my point of view, Caer Gwent's approach seems excellent and I do not have to worry about any aspect of care or safety. This has been transformative for me also.

Excellent care from very friendly and attentive staff. Facilities, food and activities are of a very high standard. Existing medical needs are taken care of well and the staff regularly check for new health issues.

During my father's final days, he continued to be treated with immense kindness and respect. The staff continued to talk to him demonstrating how well they knew him as an individual person. My father received a high standard of nursing care and was kept very comfortable. I felt very involved in the
decision-making process regarding my father's end of life care. All the staff treated me with great care and compassion as well, whilst I sat with my father.

Dad has been a resident since November 2019 having had a stroke. He has always been treated with great care and compassion. The staff have always seemed genuinely fond of him. He spent his last days on palliative treatment, and everyone couldn't have been kinder to him. We are so grateful to them all.

Although writing this in June 2021, the comments relate to the duration of the pandemic.
The care that has been provided for my mother has been exemplary. This is in no small part due to the combined efforts of the care staff, the nursing staff, the health and well-being team, and the manager. The
fact that the home remained Covid-free, and during the time that visits weren't possible, no effort was too much to enable video call 'meetings' which, then as well as now, have proved to be a more than adequate substitute. Since visits have resumed, the willingness to undertake the necessary testing procedures has meant an otherwise difficult experience has been the best possible in the circumstances.
I can't pretend to imagine how difficult the front line experience must have been day-to-day for all the staff. None of this showed during the numerous telephone conversations with nursing and care staff, or during the frequent email exchanges with the health and well-being team.

My 90-year-old mum is so happy living there, she is so well looked after, she has a great relationship with the staff who take so good care of her. My family and l have peace of mind that she is happy and secure. The staff can't do enough for our family as they always keep us updated. We are truly blessed.

My name is Clare and I am the Registered Manager at Caer Gwent. I've been part of the Caer Gwent team for over 20 years, starting as a care assistant and working my way up through various roles before becoming Registered Manager in 2021. Caer Gwent is a really special place and it means a lot to me.


I have an open-door policy and always enjoy getting to know our residents and their families. I’m passionate about creating a caring, homely environment where everyone feels valued, supported and truly part of our extended family.

Job Title: Deputy Manager - Clinical Lead Joined: 2021

I am a Registered Nurse with an MBA in Health Care Management. I have worked at Guild Care for 2 years. As Clinical Lead I oversee the clinical team and nurses to ensure that all areas are functioning correctly in line with CQC and the NMC.


I oversee medication management and also conduct clinical assessments for new residents before they move into our home. An essential part of my role is liaising with families to keep them updated on their loved one's health and care plans.

My name is Staci and I’m the Practice Development Facilitator at Caer Gwent. I originally qualified as a teacher in South Africa and now use my experience to support and guide our amazing team. I make sure all new team members receive the training they need to feel confident and meet the standards of their roles.


I also work closely with our whole team to support ongoing learning and development, helping everyone continue to grow in their roles and provide the very best care for our residents.
