It was my uncle's decision to move to a care home in August 2022. From day one, he and the family were made to feel comfortable and very welcome. During the six-week initial period, my uncle became quite challenging but the wonderful staff remained kind and understanding. My uncle has now settled and, with the support, is overcoming the difficulties he found in the change to his life. This is all thanks to the care given and shown.
Thank you for your review. We are very pleased that your uncle and your family are seeing a positive benefit and impact. Your feedback is invaluable to us and we will ensure that it is shared with the team. Thank you again for taking the time to provide this review.
Dad was a resident for seven and a half years after suffering a catastrophic illness that left him with a severe disability. Dad received excellent care. This was challenging for the staff but they always carried on. His laundry was looked after, he had a fabulous choice of food and staff were knowledgeable about how to meet and what his particular needs were. Staff were kind, caring, empathic, supportive and welcoming.

We have been very impressed with all aspects of Guild Care. Our first contact with customer services was very positive and everyone at Caer Gwent Care Home has been great. The facilities, service and level of care are all very good. The staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Mum is now in the best possible place.

Our mum arrived in June after having a stroke and bleed and we have been blown away by the quality of care and compassion she has received so far. All the staff are friendly and kind, not only to Mum but also to us as visiting relatives. I feel really relaxed going to visit as they are so welcoming. They have a good amount of regular, varied activities which is great for resident interaction which is so important while there's no pressure on residents to participate if they don't want to. The home is light and airy with lovely decor and the garden area is great especially for anyone who's missing being able to get outside into their own garden. It's reassuring for us that Mum is safe and being well looked after by all staff including the nursing team while at the same time having good interaction, banter and some fun along the way.
We are delighted that your mum is enjoying living at Caer Gwent and that the service is providing benefits to both your mum and your family.
Your feedback is invaluable and I will ensure that it is shared with the team.
Thanks again for taking the time to provide feedback, it is very much appreciated.
In my opinion, this nursing home is exceptionally well run and its carers are both friendly and attentive at all times. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Congratulations must go to the administrative staff for running such a welcoming environment.
Hi there. Thanks for taking the time to write this review. You’re right, nothing is too much trouble for us! We pride ourselves on doing everything that we can to make sure our residents are safe, comfortable, and treated with the respect they deserve. I will share this review with our administrative staff. We look forward to seeing you again when you next visit.
It is a green island of care and friendliness.
An oasis in a busy town and a Covid blighted world. Thank you.
Caer Gwent Care Home has a wonderfully warm and friendly atmosphere and my mum feels very well-loved and happy there. Her face lights up when she sees the staff, which says it all. I have complete peace of mind. She is exceptionally well cared for, especially taking into consideration her changing needs over the last few years. Staff are attentive, extremely efficient and have taken the trouble to really get to know Mum and to know how to ensure the best quality of life for her. There is really no praise high enough for their hard work, infinite kindness and thoughtfulness. Thank you so very much to you all.
Hello. Thank you so much for this very kind review. Our staff love spending time with your mum and it’s great to hear that she feels the same way! We take huge pride in our attentive and caring carers and your peace of mind is so important to us all. Thanks again for these wonderful words. I will make sure to show all of our staff!
My mother has settled into Caer Gwent very well, management and staff have made Mum feel welcome. Each member of the team is friendly, helpful and focused on ensuring Mum's needs are met and any required changes (such as after a recent room move) are swiftly made. Furnishings are of a high standard, the rooms are well decorated and maintained. Mum's quality of life has greatly improved, she enjoys the varied activities, has made friends and is enjoying the well-cooked meals. We feel reassured that she’s happy, safe and well cared for.
Hi. Thanks for this lovely review! At Caer Gwent we want every resident to feel like they’re at home and that’s why the quality of our food and furnishings is so important to us. It’s great to see that you’ve noticed this too. We’ll make sure to share your kind words with all our staff.
Lots of activities for all.
Clean, safe and secure.
Staff always welcoming and helpful.
Hi Barbara, thanks for taking the time to write this. Putting our residents at the front of care is our highest priority, and it’s great to see that you feel this way. Our residents are our family at Caer Gwent and everything we do is for their safety and comfort. Thanks again for these kind words.
From my point of view, Caer Gwent's approach seems excellent and I do not have to worry about any aspect of care or safety. This has been transformative for me also.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write these kind words. We take pride in having a wonderful and dedicated Health and Wellbeing Coordinator at Caer Gwent, as we understand the importance of providing a wide range of activities for all our residents. We love having your mother stay with us, and we will make sure to share your lovely words with all our staff.
Excellent care from very friendly and attentive staff. Facilities, food and activities are of a very high standard. Existing medical needs are taken care of well and the staff regularly check for new health issues.
Many thanks for such positive feedback, which is very much appreciated on behalf of the team. We are very glad that you are pleased with the support and that it is having a positive impact.
During my father's final days, he continued to be treated with immense kindness and respect. The staff continued to talk to him demonstrating how well they knew him as an individual person. My father received a high standard of nursing care and was kept very comfortable. I felt very involved in the decision-making process regarding my father's end of life care. All the staff treated me with great care and compassion as well, whilst I sat with my father.
Dad has been a resident since November 2019 having had a stroke. He has always been treated with great care and compassion. The staff have always seemed genuinely fond of him. He spent his last days on palliative treatment, and everyone couldn't have been kinder to him. We are so grateful to them all.
Hi Sharon, thank you for sharing your thoughts. We are so glad that Caer Gwent was a caring and kind place for your dad. We will pass on your words to our staff.
The care that has been provided for my mother has been exemplary. This is in no small part due to the combined efforts of the care staff, the nursing staff, the health and well-being team, and the manager. The fact that the home remained Covid-free, and during the time that visits weren't possible, no effort was too much to enable video call 'meetings' which, then as well as now, have proved to be a more than adequate substitute. Since visits have resumed, the willingness to undertake the necessary testing procedures has meant an otherwise difficult experience has been the best possible in the circumstances.
I can't pretend to imagine how difficult the front line experience must have been day-to-day for all the staff. None of this showed during the numerous telephone conversations with nursing and care staff, or during the frequent email exchanges with the health and well-being team.
My 90-year-old mum is so happy living there, she is so well looked after, she has a great relationship with the staff who take so good care of her. My family and l have peace of mind that she is happy and secure. The staff can't do enough for our family as they always keep us updated. We are truly blessed.
I was so pleased with the care my mum got at Caer Gwent. My mum was always saying how friendly, cheerful and kind they were and when she was on end of life care they were very sensitive and welcoming when we visited.
Kind, respectful and caring at all times with prompt clinical input when required.
Clean and tasteful surroundings and food reported to be mostly excellent.
Many thanks for such positive feedback, which is very much appreciated on behalf of the team. We are very glad that you are pleased with the support and that it had a positive impact.
All of the staff are extremely friendly and creating a relaxed and lovely atmosphere. I particularly liked the fact that everyone including the staff was known by their christian names a feeling of complete relaxation. Thank you all.
Many thanks for such a positive review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and found it relaxing and we look forward to seeing you during your regular visits.
My father received end of life care at Caer Gwent for the last 7 weeks of his life. He was looked after by all the staff from the nurses, carers and hospitality staff with the utmost dignity, care and respect. The staff were also supportive to me and my brother during a very difficult time for us. A big thank you to the team for making dad's last few weeks as best as they could be.
An outstanding care home in my opinion with very attentive, caring and dedicated staff and excellent rooms and facilities.
Hi Stephen, many thanks for such a positive review. It was our pleasure to be able to provide you with the support and we are very pleased that it had a positive impact and made a difference. Kind regards.

My name is Clare and I am the Registered Manager at Caer Gwent. I've been part of the Caer Gwent team for over 20 years, starting as a care assistant and working my way up through various roles before becoming Registered Manager in 2021. Caer Gwent is a really special place and it means a lot to me.
I have an open-door policy and always enjoy getting to know our residents and their families. I’m passionate about creating a caring, homely environment where everyone feels valued, supported and truly part of our extended family.

I am a Registered Nurse with an MBA in Health Care Management and have been with Guild Care since 2021. As Clinical Lead I oversee the clinical team and nurses to ensure that all areas are functioning correctly in line with CQC and the NMC.
I oversee medication management and also conduct clinical assessments for new residents before they move into our home. An essential part of my role is liaising with families to keep them updated on their loved one's health and care plans.

I have been part of the Guild Care family for over 20 years. I worked my way up from Care Assistant and Care Supervisor into my current role as Deputy Manager - Resources.
My previous experience in caring for our residents has been invaluable in my current role where I manage staffing and rotas as well as oversee care plans. I also deputise for the Care Home Manager as needed.
I love the family environment at Caer Gwent and really enjoy interactions with our residents and their families. We really are one big family!

My name is Emma and I’m the Housekeeping Manager at Caer Gwent. I first joined Guild Care in 2014 and spent many years at Haviland House, where I took great pride in creating a clean, welcoming environment for our residents and their families. In September 2023, I was proud to take on the role of Housekeeping Manager here at Caer Gwent, following the retirement of my lovely predecessor.
I now oversee both housekeeping and maintenance, making sure everything is well looked after so our home feels safe, comfortable and cared for. What I enjoy most is supporting my team and helping to make Caer Gwent a place our residents truly enjoy calling home.

My name is Staci and I’m the Practice Development Facilitator at Caer Gwent. I originally qualified as a teacher in South Africa and now use my experience to support and guide our amazing team. I make sure all new team members receive the training they need to feel confident and meet the standards of their roles.
I also work closely with our whole team to support ongoing learning and development, helping everyone continue to grow in their roles and provide the very best care for our residents.

My name is Leah and I’m the Administrator at Caer Gwent. I’ve been part of the Guild Care family for 15 years, starting out in various care roles before moving into my current position.
I love helping people and really enjoy getting to know our residents and their families. Caer Gwent has such a warm, welcoming feel – it truly is like one big family, and I’m proud to be a part of it.
