The staff are very helpful and caring. When my Husband returned to the home after a stay in hospital it felt like he had come home. The staff were so welcoming and pleased to see him. I would recommend Cavell House to anyone looking for good care for their relatives.

My husband and I had come to England to visit his father and mother, Due to health issues, my father-in-law is a resident of Cavell House. I was nervous visiting due to my experience with US care facilities.
When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the facility and staff. The sanitary and maintenance of the facility is well above par.
It has a wonderful family atmosphere.

We believe and are extremely happy with his care. Thank you.

I am very pleased with all the staff at Cavell House. The main attribute is their humanity dedication and sense of a happy well run environment. I have experienced several homes and I can safely say, gold-plated taps and oak panelling doesn't guarantee good human care. It is about the people at the end of the day.

My father was recovering from a fall early in the New Year and stayed at Cavell House after being discharged from hospital and before returning home.

The staff were friendly, professional and caring - many had a good sense of humour - which must be a helpful quality and certainly dad cheerful during his stay.

The care he received found not be faulted.

The standard of care my mum has received in this home has been inconsistent. There are a handful of members of staff who genuinely care and those who do seem to be rushing here, there and everywhere. As mum is immobile at the moment, she has to press the buzzer when she requires assistance - on occasion, it has taken 30 mins before support arrives. Sometimes mum is washed and sorted before 10.00am and other times she has not been attended to by 11.45am. There seems to be no routine and because staff constantly come and go, there is rarely anyone who mum can form a relationship with. The whole process of mum being sent to this home has been stressful from start to finish and on occasions, I have feared for her safety.

My father stayed here for two weeks respite over the Christmas period. We were concerned that he would be unhappy there but we shouldn't have worried he was so well looked after by the manager and her team it gave us great peace of mind. We would have no doubts about sending Dad there again should the need arise.

The reason I didn't give food "excellent" was because so much is wasted. The pastry is solid, the sprouts are nasty and somethings are hard to cut. This doesn't happen all the time.

Activities I don't go to the here, so can't say.

I have nothing but high praise for all the staff at Cavell House and the service they give. nothing is too much trouble and they always seem cheerful sometimes under difficult circumstances.

My only complaint is lack of wheelchair ramps. This makes the courtyard unapproachable. Residents in wheelchairs are therefore restricted in their access.

My mother has been a resident in Cavell House for 2.5 years and I have seen a transformation in her well-being since she has been there. She is content, engaged and calm. You can go to the home at any time of day or evening and are welcomed by the staff. They are so caring and it is a great relief to know my mother is being looked after in the way that she is.
The staff cater to her needs, they know what she likes and dislikes and they have her interests at heart and listen to her. If there are any concerns they keep me updated.
There are always several activities throughout the week to engage the residents and my mum is very vocal about what she has been involved in with a cheery smile.

Her room is comfortable and bright. I highly recommend this home.
