My husband has now been at Kings Lodge for just over one year, and the care he has received is second to none. The staff are excellent, very caring. I would have no trouble in recommending Kings Lodge.

The manager was very thorough in his admission appraisal and Management Plan. Translating the Management Plan had its initial problems but speaking to the management I found them very approachable. The nursing care needed for my mother has been diligently followed and with care even though it is problematic
both for the staff concerned and my mother. They have catered for the eating preferences of my mother. The rooms are large, clean and modern, which helps not only for nursing care but when my bed-bound mother has a small group of family visitors. When I visit my mother I have always been welcomed and asked how I am. In the circumstance, I find this considerate. I am very thankful and appreciative for what they are doing.

My husband has been living in Kings Lodge for nearly a year and I visit him almost every day. During my visits I see members of staff providing care in a thoughtful, considerate manner. On the whole, maintenance members of staff act promptly, the cleaning team are always in evidence and respond immediately
to any spillages, the activities team take a happy, hands-on approach and the carers do their utmost to make sure the residents are comfortable and happy. The receptionist always has a pleasant greeting on arrival as does the manager who appears to have earned the respect of the staff. The nursing staff are on hand to discuss medical problems that arise and to alleviate any concerns. On a personal note, some days are not as good as others but I know I can approach any member of staff for support at these times.

The Home looked after both of my parents. My dad was ill when he went to the Home and the staff were so gentle and caring I feel they helped him die with dignity.
After dads death they looked after Mum I asked her if she wanted to move and got the reply "you dare and i'll disown you". Mum loved the
home and all of the care staff
who were always gentle, kind and spent time with her when I couldn't get there. They always phoned if any problems with her health came up and kept me up to date with what was happening

A lovely setting. Beautiful spacious rooms. Caring staff who are always on hand and friendly to you. I feel My mum was well looked after and cared for in her time here. Sadly she is no longer with us, but the kind words and staff presence at her funeral was very touching. Thank you

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mother was in Kings Lodge for about 14 months and suffered from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. She had a very pleasant room. It is a nice spacious home with plenty of natural light and easy for access. I have no complaints as the staff work very hard despite working such long hours, in difficult circumstances
and for low pay. Mum was relatively easy for staff to look after as her mental health went inwards and she was placid in nature. However, sadly her physical and mental health deteriorated very quickly. In her last few months she was not able to sit so permanently in bed and she could not eat or drink for herself and needed her food to be pureed. Mum needed 24/7 nursing care in order to keep her comfortable and to give her a reasonable quality of life. Mum passed away peacefully in her sleep on the 17th November 2015. The Manager is doing a great job and doing all the right things, he has a very challenging job but I am very grateful for the hard work.

My Mum has been there for more than a year - I have no complaints and am very grateful to all the staff and management for their care of my Mum - she has Alzheimer's with Parkinson's which is quite a toxic mix and in the space of a year mums mental and physical health has deteriorated but Kings Lodge
has responded extremely well to the changes and challenges that this presents. I appreciate how difficult it is for them as my my Mum is completely dependent upon their 24/7 care. The facility is lovely and kept nice and clean and staff are always ready to address any concerns that you have. I am very grateful to all the staff and the management for the wonderful care they have given to my Mum. Thank You

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.872)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.872) out of 10 for Kings Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.897 for Kings Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (203 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 224 Ratings = 4.897
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kings Lodge is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 77 registered maximum number of service users is 15.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
