My husband has been a resident in the Lodge for just over two years, and is very happy there. He is always treated with kindness, understanding and dignity. The team work tirelessly to meet his needs. Any request is always met with a smile and I feel part of 'the family' when I visit. I could not wish for a better place to keep my husband safe and cared for. Thank you to the amazing team.
Thank you for your kind words about our home and sharing your experience. We appreciate your thoughts. Thank you for such a wonderful review of our home.
It was comforting for the family to know that her last years were spent in such a caring environment and that she was happy and well looked after.
We have nothing but praise for Marriott House and the staff and would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone who is seeking the best of care for an elderly loved one.
Thank you very much for sharing your kind words about your experience at Marriott, in regards to your mother and the care received. We appreciate you taking time to express your thoughts. Thank you from all the staff here at Marriott.
The house and grounds always look good.
The carers do a fantastic job caring for everyone.
We have eaten a couple of times at the house too, was really lovely.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We take great pride in our grounds and are always happy to accommodate and welcome family and friends to join for any meal. We look forward to seeing you in the home in the future.
Had an anniversary lunch for Mum and Dad with eight people which was very nice. Very friendly and helpful staff. We sat outside afterwards in the lovely weather and beautiful setting looking at the cathedral.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, we are delighted to help you celebrate your special occasion with your family and pleased we could be part of that experience. If you have any ideas to improve in any areas, please do not hesitate to let the team know.
Following a bad fall, my 90 year old mother was admitted for respite care. We chose Barchester Marriott House and Lodge because we immediately felt the real focus on the care of the resident given by our initial meeting with the general manager and administration manager. Three weeks in we are seeing a real improvement in Mum's recovery and could not be more pleased with the care and attention shown to Mum and all the other residents we see on our visits to the home. It takes real skill and dedication to manage a care home and we have found the general manager to be excellent in all aspects of the home, a really great team, also well supported by the administration manager who has years of experience and really cares.
Good morning, thank you for your lovely review. It is a pleasure to support Mum with her recovery. I will ensure this review is shared with all the staff. Best wishes, Nikki.
She was treated with pure dignity and respect, and I was welcomed every day, being looked after just as much as she was.
If it wasn't for the manager and the great team at Marriot House, my mum's end-of-life care would've been something I can't even think about.
The honesty and integrity showed, not only with my mum but with all the residents.
It didn't feel clinical and felt like home.
The support I received all the way through was amazing. They were with me through all the emotional roller coaster.
I will be forever grateful.
Thank you for your lovely review; it was our pleasure to care for your Mum in the last months of her life. Mum was a special individual and is sadly missed by us all. I will ensure your comments are passed on to the whole team. Sending you all our love from all of us at Marriott House and Lodge.
My father spent the last four months of his life at Barchester Marriott House & Lodge. He passed away this week. There are not enough superlatives to express the quality of care I witnessed. Staff were so kind to Dad, going the extra mile/above and beyond on numerous occasions. He told me every visit that he felt cared for and safe. Every member of staff from housekeeping, named nurses to health care assistants treated my father with dignity and compassion. We felt supported as a family when Dad passed. The general manager leads by example and has a first-class team who seem to enjoy coming to work - camaraderie amongst staff was palpable. The human touch was evident on so many occasions with a warm welcoming smile or a hug as Dad became more frail.
I believe Marriott House is an exemplar in so many aspects from quality of care to supporting relatives. Thank you all for making my dad’s stay as comfortable as possible.
Thank you for your kind words, it was our pleasure to care for your father. He was loved by all of us at Marriott House and Lodge and will be sadly missed. I will pass on your comments to the team. Thank you.
I have found the staff very helpful and especially the general manager. Thank you all.
Thank you for your review and I will ensure these comments are passed to the team.
I find the staff so very kind and patient, very smiley, and it is a very happy place.
Many thanks for your kind words and review of our home.
Clean, friendly, staff are excellent. Whole site is well-kept. Nothing is too much, always on hand. Food is excellent.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review. We really appreciate your kind words. Thank you again.
Thank you for a fun and entertaining afternoon at the ' Hobby Horse Ascot Race Meet', which we were invited to attend with Mum. It was lovely to see so many of the residents spectating all around the course, waving flags and encouraging riders in each of the races. The staff were a real credit and great sports, participating in their own right and assisting residents who were up for joining in. Cups of tea followed and a sing song too. What a fabulous way to spend an afternoon, how lucky your residents are.
Thank you for your lovely review, we are so pleased that you enjoyed our 'hobby horse racing' afternoon, it was lots of fun and just one of the amazing events that the team arranges. We hope you can join us again in the future. With best wishes from the manager and the Team at Marriott House and Lodge.
The staff at Marriott House & Lodge organised a great 100th birthday party for my mum who has only been a resident for a few months. Great cake and entertainment. Despite understandable reluctance to move to a care home, my mum seems very happy with her new surroundings, friends and caring staff.
Thank you for your lovely review. We all very much enjoyed celebrating with Mum and yourselves on her special birthday. We are so glad that Mum has settled and enjoying life at Marriott Lodge. With best wishes from the manager and the team at Marriott House and Lodge.
For much of my professional life, I have been in international organisations. I taught in Nigeria for many years. Later I had many international students and I made professional visits to Asia. I did enjoy briefly talking to some of your staff-all born after I had visited their countries. I am very much an internationalist and this aspect of my stay suited me very well. I have lived alone since 2008 when my wife moved to an EMI care home with Alzheimers. My friends and most of the staff I spoke to in Marriott House, think it is too soon for me to become a resident. Although 94, I am still very active mentally, but I am having increasing mobility problems and some tasks are much more difficult and tiring.
Thank you for your lovely review, we are pleased you enjoyed your respite stay and we hope to see you again in the future. Please feel free to pop in anytime to see us. With best wishes from the manager and the team at Marriott House and Lodge.
This is a lovely place for residents, clean and tidy and the staff are so lovely and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. The garden is beautiful and the residents are able to sit outside and there is a little garden for them to be involved in. I am sure there is no better place.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review. We really appreciate your kind words. Thank you again.
General manager.
We had looked at a number of care homes in February/March of 2023. We were very impressed with the excellent range of provisions at Marriott House & Lodge and decided upon a placement for my late father for his ongoing care. Sadly my father passed away before he could join the Barchester family but my mum proceeded to enjoy a week's respite here immediately following his passing. She was exceptionally well cared for at a most painful and vulnerable time. I cannot thank you all enough. We will be back!
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this wonderful review. We were very sorry Dad couldn't come to stay however it was a pleasure to care for Mum and we are very pleased that she enjoyed her stay. We hope to see you again soon. Take care.
Seven months ago I was faced with finding a care home place for my dad at short notice - a difficult task to get right. I am so glad I found Marriott House which has proved to be a safe, comfortable and well-managed home for him. The food is excellent and the staff are hard-working and caring. When I asked him just now for one word to describe Marriott House he said "friendly" with a smile on his face!
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. We are so pleased that dad is happy and that you are happy with the home and the care. It is great to know he feels the home is Friendly. Thank you again.
It is difficult to choose a care home. My advice would be to talk to the staff, and any visiting relatives, if you can. And put less weight on facilities and rooms. That said my mother's room was great, with a view of Chichester Cathedral. Living in London, the location of Marriott House was very convenient, being close to the station and the town centre.
Thank you, everyone!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this wonderful review. We are so pleased you were happy with your mother's care during her five years with us. We loved having her here, she was a pleasure to care for. Thank you again.
Snuggly! A warm and caring environment, with super staff and lovely accommodation. Great communal areas to relax in and wonderful gardens. All in all a lovely atmosphere conducive to great well-being.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review and for your kind words. We are glad you feel comfortable and are enjoying your stay at Marriott House. Thank you again.
My father came to Marriott House & Lodge back in November last year for the final few weeks of his life and I can honestly say Im so glad he did because all the staff were absolutely amazing in helping ensure he passed as peacefully as possible. Any time I had an issue the manager and her team dealt with it straight away and they were always on hand to answer any questions I had. I literally feel like I owe you guys my life for everything you did for my dad the care, love and support you showed him was outstanding I couldn't have asked for more so from the bottom of my heart thank you all so much. The manager, you have an awesome team who deserve so much recognition thank you all again.
Thank you for your lovely comments, it was an absolute pleasure to care for your dad in the last weeks of his life. If you need any further support please contact us at any time. With loving thought from all the staff at Marriott House and Lodge.
These are challenging times for all care homes but since moving to Marriott House & Lodge in November my daughter has been treated with such kindness, dignity and respect. The facilities are lovely, with excellent food and numerous daily activities. The rapport amongst the staff shows they have a good hard working environment. They all clearly strive to make this a home from home.
Thank you so much for these kind words and for taking the time to write this review. We are so pleased to hear that you and your daughter are happy with the home and the care that she is receiving. Thank you again.

Meet the Team (21)

With 8 years of experience as a registered nurse, all being within primary care, I look forward to my new role as Operations Manager for Barchester.
My clinical background gives me a unique perspective on operational decisions, ensuring patient care and staff support remain top priorities.
Outside of work, I am an avid reader who enjoys diving into everything from leadership development to fiction. I love to travel the world with my family and encompass all the different cultures we encounter into both my personal and professional journey.

Hello, my name is Mark Anthony Serrano, and I am the Senior nurse at Marriott and Lodge, I have over 16 years of nursing experience including working for the NHS.
Apart from the nursing profession, my passions are cooking and sports.
Working in a diverse and multifaceted medical industry has thought me how to value and appreciate collaborative and patient-centred care. As the new nurse on the block, I am striving on learning new things, create lasting memories and continue my life goal of redefining patient-centred care.

Hello, my name is Rudo and I have been part of the clinical team at Marriott House and Lodge since 2005. I am the clinical lead at Marriott House.
I initially joined as a senior carer after previously being a nurse/midwife in my home town of Zambia.
I studied and completed my Mental Health Nursing at the University of Brighton and obtained a BSc Hons in 2014.
I enjoy every aspect of my role here at Marriott and I get huge joy and satisfaction from helping our residents.

I have worked at Marriott House and Lodge for over 18 years in a variety of roles.
I began my Barchester journey as a Night Care Assistant in 2000. Through completing care qualifications, I progressed to Senior Care Assistant and, more recently, I have also adopted the responsibilities of a Care Practitioner as well. I have also been involved in activities within the home and have led the Activities Team for many years. I have completed many training courses through the Barchester Healthcare Training Academy, which have further enhanced my skills in a range of areas, including, care, activities and providing training. I now share my time between being a Care Practitioner and leading the Activities Team.
Leading the Activities Team means that I work with a group of staff and volunteers to provide activities for the residents that help to keep them active and stimulated. My duties include planning events for residents and their families, organising day-to-day activities, arranging outings, and offering residents that very crucial one-to-one time. I work closely with local groups, meaning that Marriott House & Lodge remains a key part of the local community with regular visitors who offer support to families and friends.
I am currently enjoying the role of Administrator. A job role I have been involved with for many years.
I am very much involved in the ‘whole home approach’ regarding the care we provide as a care home; my hands-on approach allows me to work closely with all members of the team and help them to develop their skills.
Dignity in care is a particular area that I am always keen to promote within the home and I believe that we can all enhance the lives of residents.

Hi. My name is Clara, I joined the Administration team at Marriott House and Lodge in October 2021. It’s a pleasure to support our residents and to greet their families and friends at the door when they arrive at the Reception. I have worked in various administrative roles both in the UK and overseas for the last 8 years and I feel proud and fortunate to be a part of the team at Marriott House and Lodge. In my spare time, I study the English language at university and teach English as a second language online. I also enjoy netball.

Hi my name is Kate, I am a Care Practitioner here at Marriott House and Lodge. I have worked at Marriott House for over 20 years and in that time I have worked my way up from a carer to the care practitioner role.
The Barchester Training Academy has helped me further my career; I completed my NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care with them and I am also a qualified NVQ assessor.
I support the nurses here to ensure that care is delivered with dignity and respect, putting our residents at the centre of the support that we provide, with a guarantee that they can continue to live their lives in the way they wish.
I am also the speak-up champion for the home I act as a voice for colleagues to express their ideas, and develop new ways of working and a pathway for them to report concerns. I regularly meet with the manager to discuss the running of the home from the colleague's perspective.

My name is Christina. I have worked at Marriott House and Lodge for many years! I have many years of experience in the Care industry. I am responsible for the day-to-day running of Marriott Lodge.
I take pride in looking after the residents' day-to-day requirements and well-being while also managing the care team. Quality of care is always my top priority, and I see my role as ensuring this is delivered in every single way.
In my spare time, I enjoy attending my local church, reading, helping and spending time with my friends and family

Hello, my name is Tania. I am the Head Housekeeper at Marriot House and Lodge. After 20 years of working in children’s residential homes, I made the move to adult homes and have not looked back. I really enjoy working at Marriot House and Lodge, chatting and singing with residents, and joining creative activities and quizzes. I take great pride in my team's work keeping both the House and Lodge clean and homely.

With over 20 years of culinary experience across fine dining, award-winning gastropubs and owner-operated restaurants, I am thrilled to be joining the team at Marriott House and Lodge as Head Chef.
My background — from near-Michelin-standard kitchens to large-scale catering — has given me a deep appreciation for food that is both technically excellent and genuinely meaningful to the people eating it. I believe every mealtime should feel special, and I look forward to bringing creativity, care and high standards to the residents of Marriott House every day.
Outside of work, I love a game of pool and enjoy singing, so if anyone fancies a duet or a challenge at the table, you know where to find me!

Hello, my name is Matt and I am the Head of Maintenance and Health and Safety Champion at Marriott House and Lodge.
I have worked at the home since 2014, initially in the kitchen and housekeeping teams before moving to the maintenance team. I have headed up the maintenance department since 2023.
My aim is to provide our residents, staff and visitors with a comfortable building, and surroundings they can feel safe and happy in at all times.

I began my career in care in 2017 and, aside from taking five years away to raise my family, I have dedicated my working life to the healthcare sector. Caring for others has always been my passion, and I feel incredibly privileged to support our residents every day.
What brings me the greatest joy is seeing our residents happy. I believe that every resident, regardless of their condition or abilities—whether they are independent and active or bed-bound and unable to communicate—deserves the same love, dignity, respect and opportunities for meaningful life enrichment every single day.
One thing I have always strived for in my role is to ensure our residents don’t simply feel like they are living in a care home, but that Marriott House feels like both a home and a place where every day brings the enjoyment, comfort and excitement of a holiday. I aim to create experiences that bring smiles, encourage connection and ensure every resident feels valued, included and able to live life to the fullest.

Mandy joined the Marriott House family 25 years ago, working in a variety of roles, including Care Assistant, Care Practitioner, and, over recent years, as our wonderful Second Chef!

Mandy successfully completed her HM Government Apprenticeship as a Commis Chef Level 2 with distinction in June 2025, and we could not be more proud of her well-deserved achievements.

As a Senior Carer, Maggie’s attentiveness and organised nature shine through in everything she does. She takes great pride in ensuring our residents feel comfortable, supported, and truly cared for each and every day. Her warm smile and positive attitude brighten up the home.
Outside of work, Maggie loves to travel and spend time with her family back home in beautiful Portugal.
We’re so grateful for Maggie’s dedication and warmth she brings to Marriott House and Lodge.

This is Linzee, our fabulous Team Leader, who has dedicated herself to our home for over 20 years. Linzee’s dedication, care and experience shine through everything she does. She knows our residents inside and out and is always ready with a helping hand, a reassuring word or a good laugh to lift everyone’s spirits.
In Linzee’s spare time, she is just as busy with a family and two dogs who keep her on her toes!
We’re so grateful for her hard work and leadership, which she brings to our community every day.

Elaine has been part of our Marriott community since 2010, and we can’t imagine the home without her!
Over the years, she’s worked across several roles in Activities and Care, and is now our fabulous General Assistant. Elaine brings warmth, laughter and an incredible sense of support to both residents and colleagues alike. Whether it’s offering a helping hand, a comforting shoulder or sharing a good laugh, Elaine is always there when someone needs her most.
Outside of work, Elaine is a devoted grandmother and loves spending time crafting showcasing her creative spirit.
We’re so grateful to have Elaine as part of our wonderful team here at Marriott!

Zhu is dependable, hardworking and takes real pride in making sure everything is clean and fresh for our residents. Outside of work, he enjoys practising Tai Chi, which keeps him calm and focused; qualities that definitely come in handy in our busy home!
