Such a short two-week stay and the care and attention were exemplary. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review and for your kind words. We are really pleased you were happy with the care. Thank you again.
They looked after my mum in the final weeks of her life. The team were faultless with her care and helped her pass with dignity. I couldn't have wished for better end-of-life care and for that I am truly grateful.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review and for your kind words, we are really pleased that you were happy with the care provided for mum. We wish you all the best. Many Thanks.
My father has been at Marriott House & Lodge for three months now. The care he has received has been consistently excellent. The staff are all very caring and considerate and nothing seems to be too much trouble when it comes to looking after my father. He is in good form, enjoys things again and is engaged in social activities. I am relieved he is here.
Thank you for your lovely review; I will ensure these comments are passed on to the team.
As a family, the management team and the staff were very approachable and helpful giving us confidence that Mum would be in safe hands, as indeed it proved as after six weeks Mum was sufficiently recovered and confident enough to return home where she continues to recover and improve.
Mum had previously always asked us to never put her in a home, but after this experience, she has decided that if she is no longer able to fend for herself in the future she would be content to return here permanently.
Best Wishes, Nikki and the team.
My father arrived on 28th September 22, It was a hard decision to make by when I had a talk with the management my mind has been out to rest. I was shown around and introduced to the nurses etc. My father hasn't stopped praising about how professional all the staff are and very friendly they are, that much he has decided to stay an extra week.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review - we always try and deliver excellent service and care to our residents; I will let the team know about your review as it is always nice to receive positive feedback. Thank you once again.
The Marriott came to my dad's rescue. I called the manager to ask if she had a room for my dad. He was in a home where he was unhappy she listened to me and I feel immediately that she understood. She assessed my dad the very next day. He has been here a month now. He is so well cared for. All the staff are professional and caring. Everyone you speak to has time for you. A special thank you the manager and her team. I feel secure in the knowledge my dad is getting the very best care.
Thank you for your lovely review. Please feel free to come and meet me anytime. Best wishes.
My mother moved to the Barchester Marriott House & Lodge in July, initially for a month's respite care. Her room is a good size and always kept clean and tidy. The food is very good with high quality and wide-ranging menu - the kitchen is also happy to provide alternative meals if required. All the caring staff are excellent - very professional and caring and take an active interest in my mother's well-being and personal needs. The management team is also very open and friendly and happy to share information and advice with us as a family.
Thank you for your lovely review; I will ensure these comments are passed on to the team. Please feel free to come and meet me anytime. Best Wishes.
My father has received excellent care during his respite stay at Marriorr House. The staff are friendly and attentive and are at the heart of the warm and relaxing atmosphere. The food is delicious. There are excellent coffee and tea-making facilities for visitors and I have always been made to feel welcome. The jubilee celebrations were fantastic and other activities are organised to inform and entertain residents. I highly recommend Barchester Marriott House

All the staff were lovely and very helpful. Mum's room was very pleasant, light, bright and airy. My only criticism is the food was variable and often cold but I understand the complications regarding serving meals. Would highly recommend this home.
Her room is a nice size and always kept clean and tidy. Laundry services are prompt and very thorough.
The staff are caring and professional and take a real interest in my mother's well-being, both physical and mental. They are quick to pick up on any signs that she is not feeling 100% and action on this is prompt.
There is also a good range of activities to keep her engaged with others, which is very important.
The management staff have been a great source of information and help, as this is the first encounter we have had with care homes; we are very grateful for the time and effort they have put in on our behalf.
The public areas are always clean and well kept, including the gardens, which are nice to sit out in.
The meals may be taken either in the resident's rooms or in the restaurant, which is a light and airy area and always looks smart when prepared for meals.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. We are really pleased that you are happy with the home and the team, and we are very grateful for your kind words.
We have only had six weeks' experience, but so far, have found management, staff, care and facilities very good. The range of activities is good, food, both quality and choice, very good. One or two small maintenance issues have been dealt with promptly. Overall, very satisfied with the service. Management and admin staff have been exceptional.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. We really appreciate your kind comments, and we are really pleased you have had a good experience in the first 6-weeks. Thank you again.
I was discharged from the hospital where I had been for almost a month after being knocked off my bike by a car which hit me from behind. The Marriott was recommended by a neighbour whose husband had much appreciated his time there. For me, it was an excellent halfway house between hospital and home with the 24-hour availability of trained medical staff, very much what I needed to help rebuild my confidence. Not everything was perfect, but I feel it would be pretty and small-minded to mention minor details. The Marriott's overriding asset is its staff, whose dedication, patience and commitment are deserving of the highest praise.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review and for sharing your experience. We are very pleased you had a good stay with us and that we were able to help you rehabilitate. Thank you again.
We are so fortunate that our brother has been living at Marriott House and has been so well looked after for the last five years. The staff know all the residents individually, which creates a very relaxed and warm atmosphere. Thank you.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review. We are really pleased that your brother and your family have had a good experience at the home. Thank you again.
Usually a very busy, happy home where respect and compassion is a priority along with dignity. There is without exception a warm welcome awaiting anyone and everyone who arrives at the door of Marriott House and Lodge. Well done Barchester.
Mum has been a resident at Marriott House for almost 3-years now, and we are very pleased with the level of care she gets. The staff are all magnificent - always willing to help, and nothing is too much trouble. All very friendly with lots of smiles! The communal lounges and dining room are nicely decorated. The location is perfect, being a 5/10 minute walk into Chichester town centre. We would definitely recommend Marriott House as a safe, reliable and friendly care home for your loved ones.
Thank you for your lovely review; I will ensure these comments are passed on to the team. Please feel free to come and meet me anytime. Best Wishes.
Extremely friendly staff, nothing is ever too much trouble. Always happy to put us through to my mother as my siblings and I live across the globe so rely on phone calls and Skype calls. My mother settled very well once isolation was over. Staff are very friendly and we had peace of mind that my mother was being very well looked after.
Thank you for your lovely review, it's always good to have some positive feedback. With best wishes to you all from all the staff at Marriott House and Lodge.
The care my sister received was very good, despite the fact that she was not very cooperative and didn't want to be there. The staff were very caring and having to work during covid lockdown were always ready to discuss her health with me and to help me in my request to make her stay as smooth as I could. She was suffering with some problems and I commend the staff on her stay.
Thank you for your lovely review, it's always good for our staff to have some positive feedback. With best wishes to you all from all the staff at Marriott House and Lodge.
The accommodation adequately meets our requirements considering our ages 90+. It is a great comfort to know that all our requirements are cared for and we ourselves feel comfortable and looked after.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We love having you and looking forward to many more positive times for you at Marriott's.
My husband has two weeks respite before Xmas. Unfortunately, the house was in isolation, but the staff were wonderful and looked after him extremely well. He enjoyed his meals very much too.
Thank you so much for your comments. We hope to see you both again in the future.
Very friendly hospitality.
Thank you so much for the lovely comment. It is our pleasure to have you here with us at Marriott's and sharing the continuous fun that we all enjoy. Thank you once again.

Meet the Team (21)

With 8 years of experience as a registered nurse, all being within primary care, I look forward to my new role as Operations Manager for Barchester.
My clinical background gives me a unique perspective on operational decisions, ensuring patient care and staff support remain top priorities.
Outside of work, I am an avid reader who enjoys diving into everything from leadership development to fiction. I love to travel the world with my family and encompass all the different cultures we encounter into both my personal and professional journey.

Hello, my name is Mark Anthony Serrano, and I am the Senior nurse at Marriott and Lodge, I have over 16 years of nursing experience including working for the NHS.
Apart from the nursing profession, my passions are cooking and sports.
Working in a diverse and multifaceted medical industry has thought me how to value and appreciate collaborative and patient-centred care. As the new nurse on the block, I am striving on learning new things, create lasting memories and continue my life goal of redefining patient-centred care.

Hello, my name is Rudo and I have been part of the clinical team at Marriott House and Lodge since 2005. I am the clinical lead at Marriott House.
I initially joined as a senior carer after previously being a nurse/midwife in my home town of Zambia.
I studied and completed my Mental Health Nursing at the University of Brighton and obtained a BSc Hons in 2014.
I enjoy every aspect of my role here at Marriott and I get huge joy and satisfaction from helping our residents.

I have worked at Marriott House and Lodge for over 18 years in a variety of roles.
I began my Barchester journey as a Night Care Assistant in 2000. Through completing care qualifications, I progressed to Senior Care Assistant and, more recently, I have also adopted the responsibilities of a Care Practitioner as well. I have also been involved in activities within the home and have led the Activities Team for many years. I have completed many training courses through the Barchester Healthcare Training Academy, which have further enhanced my skills in a range of areas, including, care, activities and providing training. I now share my time between being a Care Practitioner and leading the Activities Team.
Leading the Activities Team means that I work with a group of staff and volunteers to provide activities for the residents that help to keep them active and stimulated. My duties include planning events for residents and their families, organising day-to-day activities, arranging outings, and offering residents that very crucial one-to-one time. I work closely with local groups, meaning that Marriott House & Lodge remains a key part of the local community with regular visitors who offer support to families and friends.
I am currently enjoying the role of Administrator. A job role I have been involved with for many years.
I am very much involved in the ‘whole home approach’ regarding the care we provide as a care home; my hands-on approach allows me to work closely with all members of the team and help them to develop their skills.
Dignity in care is a particular area that I am always keen to promote within the home and I believe that we can all enhance the lives of residents.

Hi. My name is Clara, I joined the Administration team at Marriott House and Lodge in October 2021. It’s a pleasure to support our residents and to greet their families and friends at the door when they arrive at the Reception. I have worked in various administrative roles both in the UK and overseas for the last 8 years and I feel proud and fortunate to be a part of the team at Marriott House and Lodge. In my spare time, I study the English language at university and teach English as a second language online. I also enjoy netball.

Hi my name is Kate, I am a Care Practitioner here at Marriott House and Lodge. I have worked at Marriott House for over 20 years and in that time I have worked my way up from a carer to the care practitioner role.
The Barchester Training Academy has helped me further my career; I completed my NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care with them and I am also a qualified NVQ assessor.
I support the nurses here to ensure that care is delivered with dignity and respect, putting our residents at the centre of the support that we provide, with a guarantee that they can continue to live their lives in the way they wish.
I am also the speak-up champion for the home I act as a voice for colleagues to express their ideas, and develop new ways of working and a pathway for them to report concerns. I regularly meet with the manager to discuss the running of the home from the colleague's perspective.

My name is Christina. I have worked at Marriott House and Lodge for many years! I have many years of experience in the Care industry. I am responsible for the day-to-day running of Marriott Lodge.
I take pride in looking after the residents' day-to-day requirements and well-being while also managing the care team. Quality of care is always my top priority, and I see my role as ensuring this is delivered in every single way.
In my spare time, I enjoy attending my local church, reading, helping and spending time with my friends and family

Hello, my name is Tania. I am the Head Housekeeper at Marriot House and Lodge. After 20 years of working in children’s residential homes, I made the move to adult homes and have not looked back. I really enjoy working at Marriot House and Lodge, chatting and singing with residents, and joining creative activities and quizzes. I take great pride in my team's work keeping both the House and Lodge clean and homely.

With over 20 years of culinary experience across fine dining, award-winning gastropubs and owner-operated restaurants, I am thrilled to be joining the team at Marriott House and Lodge as Head Chef.
My background — from near-Michelin-standard kitchens to large-scale catering — has given me a deep appreciation for food that is both technically excellent and genuinely meaningful to the people eating it. I believe every mealtime should feel special, and I look forward to bringing creativity, care and high standards to the residents of Marriott House every day.
Outside of work, I love a game of pool and enjoy singing, so if anyone fancies a duet or a challenge at the table, you know where to find me!

Hello, my name is Matt and I am the Head of Maintenance and Health and Safety Champion at Marriott House and Lodge.
I have worked at the home since 2014, initially in the kitchen and housekeeping teams before moving to the maintenance team. I have headed up the maintenance department since 2023.
My aim is to provide our residents, staff and visitors with a comfortable building, and surroundings they can feel safe and happy in at all times.

I began my career in care in 2017 and, aside from taking five years away to raise my family, I have dedicated my working life to the healthcare sector. Caring for others has always been my passion, and I feel incredibly privileged to support our residents every day.
What brings me the greatest joy is seeing our residents happy. I believe that every resident, regardless of their condition or abilities—whether they are independent and active or bed-bound and unable to communicate—deserves the same love, dignity, respect and opportunities for meaningful life enrichment every single day.
One thing I have always strived for in my role is to ensure our residents don’t simply feel like they are living in a care home, but that Marriott House feels like both a home and a place where every day brings the enjoyment, comfort and excitement of a holiday. I aim to create experiences that bring smiles, encourage connection and ensure every resident feels valued, included and able to live life to the fullest.

Mandy joined the Marriott House family 25 years ago, working in a variety of roles, including Care Assistant, Care Practitioner, and, over recent years, as our wonderful Second Chef!
Mandy’s passion and talent shine through in every dish she creates, always going the extra mile to make sure our residents enjoy meals that are both delicious and comforting.
Mandy successfully completed her HM Government Apprenticeship as a Commis Chef Level 2 with distinction in June 2025, and we could not be more proud of her well-deserved achievements.

Maggie joined the Marriott House and Lodge family in May 2022 and has quickly become an invaluable part of our care team.
As a Senior Carer, Maggie’s attentiveness and organised nature shine through in everything she does. She takes great pride in ensuring our residents feel comfortable, supported, and truly cared for each and every day. Her warm smile and positive attitude brighten up the home.
Outside of work, Maggie loves to travel and spend time with her family back home in beautiful Portugal.
We’re so grateful for Maggie’s dedication and warmth she brings to Marriott House and Lodge.

This is Linzee, our fabulous Team Leader, who has dedicated herself to our home for over 20 years. Linzee’s dedication, care and experience shine through everything she does. She knows our residents inside and out and is always ready with a helping hand, a reassuring word or a good laugh to lift everyone’s spirits.
In Linzee’s spare time, she is just as busy with a family and two dogs who keep her on her toes!
We’re so grateful for her hard work and leadership, which she brings to our community every day.

Elaine has been part of our Marriott community since 2010, and we can’t imagine the home without her!
Over the years, she’s worked across several roles in Activities and Care, and is now our fabulous General Assistant. Elaine brings warmth, laughter and an incredible sense of support to both residents and colleagues alike. Whether it’s offering a helping hand, a comforting shoulder or sharing a good laugh, Elaine is always there when someone needs her most.
Outside of work, Elaine is a devoted grandmother and loves spending time crafting showcasing her creative spirit.
We’re so grateful to have Elaine as part of our wonderful team here at Marriott!

Zhu is dependable, hardworking and takes real pride in making sure everything is clean and fresh for our residents. Outside of work, he enjoys practising Tai Chi, which keeps him calm and focused; qualities that definitely come in handy in our busy home!
Thank you, Zhu, for your commitment and dedication over the years. We’re very lucky to have you on our team.
