The Littlehampton and Rustington Housing Society Ltd purchased Rustington Hall in 1948 under the guiding hand of Percy Booker. The original hall was established as a residential care home for older people.

Between 1964 and 1983 eighty-seven sheltered homes were constructed which is today known as Oakhurst Gardens. This was followed by a purpose-built nursing wing in 1997 and further works to extend in 2015. The completion of these works provides a unique retirement village in the heart of Rustington.

The Society is an exempt charity and is registered as an Industrial & Provident Society with the Registrar of Friendly Societies. It is also registered with the Housing Co-operation as a Housing Association.

The staff at Rustington Hall provide a warm and comfortable setting where residents are safe and secure and can enjoy a real family atmosphere. Many of the staff have enjoyed working at Rustington Hall for over a decade.

A lovely nursing home, where our Mum was looked after with care and dignity. Our Dad visited every day, and he, too, was given special treatment. The home is clean and the gardens are lovely. Thank you all.

Rustington Hall Care Home has been absolutely wonderful in looking after my father. From the moment he moved in, the staff have been kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. My beloved mum was a resident for 8 years, and when she passed in November 2024. I knew I needed to carry on visiting the wonderful staff. Without them it would have felt like another bereavement. They are my extended family. Mum was happy here, she was treated with dignity, respect and love. My family
and I are grateful for giving mum a happy, secure and supportive 8 years. Exceptionally clean throughout, varied menus to suit all residents assorted professional entertainment. In my opinion, worthy of 'outstanding'.

My father is extremely well cared for by all the staff at Rushington Hall. He is very content, the activities rota is organised for residents is very full and varied, and dad has enjoyed joining in when he is able to. The food is nutritious and tasty. I highly recommend this friendly, happy care home.

When my friend came to Rustington Hall he had not been eating, had lost a lot of weight, and was rather poorly.
The care and support that has been given by the staff has helped restore his health and well-being. He has settled well and is enjoying his stay.

I visited my friend over the Christmas period, although I visit every couple of months throughout the year.
I have found the staff to be friendly and efficient.
My friend loves it there and seems to think it's a hotel.
I have always found the home to be spotlessly clean and always welcoming.

Since admission in August 2024, my friend was treated with kindness and respect together with receiving excellent care for her palliative clinical needs. She made friends, had fun, enjoyed the activities provided while also being able to have quiet time when she wished in her room.
At the end of her
life she chose to remain at Rustington Hall confident that she would not be alone.
I have the utmost respect for the management and staff.

Excellent individualised care was given to my father. He was acutely grieving when he first moved in. All members of staff - maintenance, cleaners, nurses, kitchen staff, managers and activities coordinators - listen to his needs and facilitated him settling in and finding contentment. As family, we
trusted he was safe and happy, being communicated with when required. Throughout his 18 months of care, his care needs were assessed and acted upon promptly e.g. when he needed hoisting. When he reached his end of life, he was cared for with skill, dignity and compassion. The kindness we as family received was exemplary.

I suppose that I am happy overall. I have no previous experience of a nursing home so did not know what to expect. Initial thoughts were, and still are, that it is a lot of money. Mum being in a nursing home has taken a lot of stress and worry away from us but there always seems to be something we are
not happy with. We are not happy with the response times when Mum presses the buzzer, we have had a few issues with that. Sometimes, but not always, there are issues with cleanliness mainly in the bathroom. Mum is picky with food, much of the time the food is ok but sometimes the food that is presented is not at all appetising. I would like to be made more aware of what is going on. Often when members of the family visit we don't see anyone from the home at all. I feel there needs to be someone on Reception for more hours. I have stood outside for 5-10 minutes on more than one occasion. When asked if she is happy Mum says she is not unhappy. She says the staff are very kind to her.

A caring environment for an elderly relative - all staff from all departments contribute to the overall sense of harmony within the home.

Since my Aunt has been a resident at this home she seems a lot healthier and is looked after by the staff. Her personal care has improved. Just wish she would become more involved with the activities that are on offer.

My mum was a resident at Rustington Hall for the last weeks of her life.
The care given to her was faultless - but the thing that impressed me the most was how friendly everyone at Rustington Hall was. As visitors, we the family, were made very welcome and felt reassured that Mum was being well cared
for. Without exception the staff all seemed to genuinely care about the residents. Mum (who always enjoyed a chat) was visited frequently by the staff, and on arriving we would often find someone such as the cleaner in her room making sure that she was happy and spending time with her. The nursing care was first class, the meals (cooked on site) were fabulous, and Mum enjoyed that the activities would come to her in her room. Truly above and beyond our expectations.

Sally first joined the Society in 2007 and has held several senior management positions.


Sally's focus is to lead and support the senior management team to achieve programmes of service improvements and infrastructure renewals. The development of partnership arrangements and regulatory compliance are also key priorities.

Marcin Szczepaniak

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2021

Marcin oversees the operations of the nursing and care home, including admissions, overall staffing, facilities. He ensures that all regulations are adhered to and functioning correctly, including compliance with the Care Quality Commission.

Harriet

Harriet Anderson

Harriet joined the society in April 2023 as Clinical Lead.


She Qualified in 2018 as a registered nurse and initially worked as a community nurse where she gained many clinical skills and experience. Harriet previously has worked as a Clinical Lead in a nursing home in Hove, In which she was able to develop her skills as a leader and help support staff and residents. She is very passionate about end-of-life care and ensuring people are supported during that time, and also invested in wound care.
