The Littlehampton and Rustington Housing Society Ltd purchased Rustington Hall in 1948 under the guiding hand of Percy Booker. The original hall was established as a residential care home for older people.

Between 1964 and 1983 eighty-seven sheltered homes were constructed which is today known as Oakhurst Gardens. This was followed by a purpose-built nursing wing in 1997 and further works to extend in 2015. The completion of these works provides a unique retirement village in the heart of Rustington.

The Society is an exempt charity and is registered as an Industrial & Provident Society with the Registrar of Friendly Societies. It is also registered with the Housing Co-operation as a Housing Association.

The staff at Rustington Hall provide a warm and comfortable setting where residents are safe and secure and can enjoy a real family atmosphere. Many of the staff have enjoyed working at Rustington Hall for over a decade.

A caring environment for an elderly relative - all staff from all departments contribute to the overall sense of harmony within the home.
The cleaning and catering staff should be given a special mention for their outstanding kindness and thoughtfulness towards the residents. My father has nothing
but admiration for their unfaltering work ethic.

Since my Aunt has been a resident at this home she seems a lot healthier and is looked after by the staff. Her personal care has improved. Just wish she would become more involved with the activities that are on offer.

My mum was a resident at Rustington Hall for the last weeks of her life.
The care given to her was faultless - but the thing that impressed me the most was how friendly everyone at Rustington Hall was. As visitors, we the family, were made very welcome and felt reassured that Mum was being well cared
for. Without exception the staff all seemed to genuinely care about the residents. Mum (who always enjoyed a chat) was visited frequently by the staff, and on arriving we would often find someone such as the cleaner in her room making sure that she was happy and spending time with her. The nursing care was first class, the meals (cooked on site) were fabulous, and Mum enjoyed that the activities would come to her in her room. Truly above and beyond our expectations.

The care home is very well run and has great staff and management who have the ability to provide residential or nursing care as needed. Communication is excellent. The reception is well organised and always friendly and very helpful. Nursing care is fabulous with a really competent caring nurse manager.
end-of-life care is well planned for and the family is included. The activity program is outstanding with the staff going beyond expectations with regards to getting the residents out of the home for visits. The cleaning is excellent.
The home encourages family to stay to eat with the residents but when we have done this we have been disappointed with the quality of the food. There is a large garden which someone has spent time in the past caring for but it looks a bit neglected nowadays.
Would I be happy to be a resident here? Definitely.

A warm welcome is always waiting along with a happy atmosphere. Dad moved there in February 2023, as his needs got greater. I know he is well looked after and cared for. As well as caring for Dad their support is also available for all family members if needed. Residents appear to be content and carers
are attentive. Great activities most days that allow residents to come together out of their rooms. Great gardens for a stroll or just to sit and soak up the sun!

The staff at Rustington Hall care for the whole family, not just the residents. My stepmother spent nearly 2 years as a resident, with my 94-year-old father visiting daily. I do not live locally, and he became a part of the Rustington Hall family, for which I am extremely grateful. Several of the managers
and staff have worked there for many years and there is little use of agency carers. Any problems arising are dealt with promptly and help is given to obtain Nursing Funding Care to help with fees. Thank you to you all.

Yesterday I visited a very old friend who has been in the home for a few weeks. I visited with his wife. So very nice to see everyone so friendly and being such a support to them. They’ve had such an awful journey since June and never thought their loved one would be in a home at 71. Have known them
for over 50 years. Also have been an RN for as long as that.
I was very impressed with the surroundings. Clean, comfortable and not like a hotel more like their home. I saw his room which was very nice lots of up-to-date Manual Handling equipment. The portable equipment on the stairs for fire evacuation was impressive.
All the staff I met were just so friendly. The residents appeared to be well looked after, calm and no one was agitated or calling out
Such a different experience from the one I had with my late mother last year in a different home.
Can’t believe the range of activities. Something for everyone. So important for everyone to have some fun including the staff.

My ex-sister-in-law and aunt to my sons, lived at Rustington Hall between June 2022 and September 2023 when she sadly passed away. She was extremely happy there and was looked after with superb care and shown love at all times. Her needs could be complex but she was given excellent support and understanding
throughout her stay in all aspects. My sons and I have subsequently been tasked with handling her affairs and I can’t thank the home manager and his team enough for their kindness and assistance with our enquiries. We have been met with courtesy and understanding at all times and are highly impressed with Rustington Hall. I am very grateful that she spent the last fifteen months of her life at such a lovely home.

Both of my parents were admitted to Rustington Hall in April. My dad for palliative care and my mum, as she wouldn’t have been able to cope at home on her own. The care my dad, mum and our family received during the three weeks my dad was at the Hall prior to his passing was exemplary. They tended to
Dad’s every need and supported us all as a family after his passing with utmost care and consideration.
Mum is still being cared for at Rustington Hall, and all members of staff go above and beyond to make sure she is comfortable, making her stay as enjoyable as possible with welcoming words and smiles whenever I visit; nothing seems too much trouble for the staff. This is my first experience with a care home, and I must say I am so impressed I have no hesitation recommending Rustington Hall to other people.

My dad was a resident here from August 2022 to September 2023 when he sadly passed away.
The care he received there was excellent and the staff made me feel very welcome on my daily visits. I was able to join in the activities and also have a meal there with Dad if I preordered it.
The care and compassion
both my dad and I received during his palliative care were absolutely faultless. I was with him when he passed as were some of the staff and every one of them was amazing.

Rustington Hall is one of the most special places. My uncles stayed during 2001-2022. The care he was shown was truly special. It became our second home, and my aunt was shown so much love every day she would visit my uncle. When he sadly passed, the care, love and dignity he and us were shown was excellent.
When the time came for my auntie to move in, a room was made available because everyone loved her. I could not have found a better place for both of them. Rustington Hall is a truly supportive and caring home. Thank you, everyone.

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Rustington Hall to anyone who needed care. This home runs efficiently. The care staff really do know the concerns and personalities of the individual residents and act accordingly with empathy. Always bright and cheery. I'm very happy with the individual care my dad

Rustington Hall was amazing. Mum was on a hospital ward requiring end of life care and was offered a room without hesitation when the hospital contacted them. From the moment my mother arrived she was treated with great kindness, dignity and compassion. As a family we cannot praise our experience of
this home highly enough. Being in the final hours of her life her stay with them was short, but that made no difference to the staff whatsoever as she was offered all the services they have available to their residents. They liaised with all medical personnel to ensure she was comfortable and had the best medical attention and end of life care.
We are so grateful to all staff involved with mum and also for the kindness and understanding given to us as a family.

The staff treated Dad as a person not just as someone at the end of his life. They looked after all his medical needs and did everything they could to make his stay as good as it could possibly be under the circumstances.

Sally

Sally Morris

Job Title: Chief Executive Officer/CQC Nominated Individual Joined: 2007

Sally first joined the Society in 2007 and has held several senior management positions.


Sally's focus is to lead and support the senior management team to achieve programmes of service improvements and infrastructure renewals. The development of partnership arrangements and regulatory compliance are also key priorities.

Marcin

Marcin Szczepaniak

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2021

Marcin oversees the operations of the nursing and care home, including admissions, overall staffing, facilities. He ensures that all regulations are adhered to and functioning correctly, including compliance with the Care Quality Commission.

Harriet

Harriet Anderson

Job Title: Clinical Lead Joined: 2023

Harriet joined the society in April 2023 as Clinical Lead.


She Qualified in 2018 as a registered nurse and initially worked as a community nurse where she gained many clinical skills and experience. Harriet previously has worked as a Clinical Lead in a nursing home in Hove, In which she was able to develop her skills as a leader and help support staff and residents. She is very passionate about end-of-life care and ensuring people are supported during that time, and also invested in wound care.

Lorraine

Lorraine Lancaster - Robinson

Job Title: Support Services Manager Joined: 2019

Lorraine has worked within the catering industry as Catering Manager and Head Chef for over 30 years. Lorraine leads and supports the catering, housekeeping, maintenance and well-being teams to ensure an efficient and quality service is provided at all times.
Lorraine lives with her family in West Sussex and enjoys going to the theatre, gardening and socializing.

James

James Budd

Job Title: Quality Assurance, Compliance and Infection Prevention Lead Joined: 2005

James has worked for the society since 2005 within many various roles and departments, since April 2020 James has earned the Quality Assurance & Compliance Lead role.


In 2019, James was awarded a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership For Health & Social Care which was influenced by his many years working within the Care sector as a Health Care Assistant and Care Co-Ordinator supporting service users in all aspects of daily living. Commencing October 2020, James has also taken on the role of Infection Prevention Lead


James is an avid animal lover and qualified hairdresser who enjoys a quiet life.

Sammy

Sammy Hydes

Job Title: Customer Relations Manager Joined: 2013

Sammy joined Rustington Hall in 2013, she holds a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership For Health & Social Care which was obtained through the organisation. Sammy is also skilled in British Sign Language.


Sammy is married with 2 children and enjoys swimming, dancing and photography.

Tasha

Tasha Rees

Job Title: Finance Manager Joined: 2020

Tasha achieved a first-class degree in Accountancy and went on to study for her ACCA exams to become a qualified chartered certified accountant. Her role is to oversee the financial aspects of Society, including internal controls, payroll, management accounts and statutory financial reporting.


Tasha lives in West Sussex with her furbabies; her cat Malley and her horse Pie! She enjoys country walks, horse riding and tai chi chaun kung fu
