The Littlehampton and Rustington Housing Society Ltd purchased Rustington Hall in 1948 under the guiding hand of Percy Booker. The original hall was established as a residential care home for older people.

Between 1964 and 1983 eighty-seven sheltered homes were constructed which is today known as Oakhurst Gardens. This was followed by a purpose-built nursing wing in 1997 and further works to extend in 2015. The completion of these works provides...

Although my dad was only resident in Rustington Hall for around 17 days before he passed, the palliative care was not only excellent, the passion, love and welfare was beyond reproach. When a loved one goes into a care/nursing home, you expect the best. Rustington Hall far exceeded this and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to prospective clients.

Rustington Hall was amazing. Mum was on a hospital ward requiring end of life care and was offered a room without hesitation when the hospital contacted them. From the moment my mother arrived she was treated with great kindness, dignity and compassion. As a family we cannot praise our experience of this home highly enough. Being in the final hours of her life her stay with them was short, but that made no difference to the staff whatsoever as she was offered all the services they have available to their residents. They liaised with all medical personnel to ensure she was comfortable and had the best medical attention and end of life care.
We are so grateful to all staff involved with mum and also for the kindness and understanding given to us as a family.

A huge thank you to all staff

The staff treated Dad as a person not just as someone at the end of his life. They looked after all his medical needs and did everything they could to make his stay as good as it could possibly be under the circumstances.

Rustington Hall is a brilliant home. Not only do they care in all medical and welfare eg, food, personal hygiene and all that goes with caring, but their social skills are amazing with all activities keeping minds alert and entertaining. Interaction with families keeping you advised and included in all associated with loved ones. My mother has been there for 10-months and has really come alive with lots of interest and involvement with all that's happening there.

Mum is well cared for and they know her well now, perceptive of her needs. Nowhere gets everything right all the time but if something isn’t working, other approaches are tried and it is fixed. The introduction of a customer relations role is a great idea. Carers and nurses are often busy with residents, which is as it should be, so having someone whose role includes specifically dealing with families works very well and makes communication so much easier. Staff have been brilliant throughout Covid and lockdown. I also feel welcomed when I visit.

Since appointing a customer relations manager I have seen great improvements. Nothing is too much trouble in helping with individual needs of my mother as everyone is different. Sometimes some carers seem to be in a rush which I understand as they have a lot of residents to deal with, but spending just a little more time with my mother could make all the difference.

Overall Experience
Mum has been a resident since Jan 2017. We have found all the staff very attentive and caring at all times. During the recent Covid-19 lockdown the care home has been very proactive in enabling us to have weekly Skype calls with Mum. Rustington Hall has an excellent program of entertainers (singers, musicians etc) who come every week in the afternoon. We have also been sent pictures of Mum attending and enjoying activities/events put on for residents on a regular basis.

My wife is a physio and has considerable experience of attending clients in care homes. We also had to recently research care homes for my father-in-law in Suffolk. In our experience, Rustington Hall stands out on many fronts as being exceptional and good value for money. Rustington Hall is a trust and owns/manages a large number of properties in its grounds that are rented out to elderly residents who live independently. We understand that the income from this portfolio of properties enables Rustington Hall to subsidise the running costs of its care home.

My dad was transferred here from a local hospice for end of life care. This was an incredibly stressful time as it was during some of the worse outbreaks of COVID but I was immediately reassured by the fact that due to their extreme care they had no patients with COVID and their precautions to avoid any situations that could result in an outbreak were fantastic. The staff were reassuring, caring and nothing was too much trouble. Dad loved a latte and even though he rarely drank it they made him one every day. My son got married in the US during this time and the staff ensured that Dad got to see his grandson get married and the videos of that day will be cherished forever. We sadly lost dad after a short 4 weeks there and the support they gave me, my brother and my son was amazing and appreciated. I cannot thank all the amazing staff enough.

At this very challenging time for management and staff at Rustington Hall nursing home, it is important that they get recognition for keeping residents safe from the COVID virus. I forgot to mention in my previous review about the excellent Catering Staff we have. Our Chef produces delicious food and makes everything from scratch. She is always thinking of new things to tempt us, and regularly has themed lunches and food tasting days for us. All the ingredients are fresh, cooked to perfection, and full of nourishment. Alternatives are always available and nothing is ever too much trouble for the Catering Staff. Food is an extremely important part of daily living and we look forward to mealtimes every day. Families should not worry about sending their loved ones to live at Rustington Hall nursing home, as they will be greatly looked after and every precaution against the virus will continue to be upheld.

Myself and my family can't thank the fantastic dedicated staff enough, that cared for and supported our Mum. It has given us so much comfort to know she was cared for and looked after to such a high standard. We highly recommended Rustington Hall and all the wonderful staff or Fairies as my Mum would call them, for everything they have done for her, and the support they have shown us, especially during this difficult time.

My Aunty is extremely well looked after and this is greatly appreciated by us her family in Ireland. We are so happy when we go to see her that she is so well looked after and that she is happy and contented where she is. It is a relief when we leave knowing that she will be ok.

It is an absolute credit and a remarkable achievement that Rustington Hall has kept Covid out of the home and Aunty remains safe and well.

Our sister has been in your lovely care for the last two years and is very happy there. The guest suite is very clean and homely as we come from Ireland it can be hard to find accommodation and are most grateful for the use of the suite and of course the car! The lovely atmosphere and the welcome that we get from the very helpful and friendly staff is very much appreciated. The coronavirus has been terribly hard on everyone but the staff have kept our sister and all the residents safe and well.

We are kept up to date with everything on a regular basis and we know that our sister is being well cared for which is so important for us. We look forward to seeing all that is going on on the website. Keep up the good work and stay safe and well and we will be able to visit next year.

The staff there are very friendly and helpful and have a lovely welcome. Before COVID we had the use of the car and guest suite which was fantastic. As I live quite a distance from the home I feel very relieved that my sister is getting such great care, I get regular emails with updates on her health which is great and reassuring that she is in safe hands. The food is delicious, before COVID they had arts and crafts days and entertainment daily so thank you all so much for giving such great care to my sister especially through these horrible times. Keep safe and well.

I have been a nursed resident at Rustington Hall for over five years and am ninety-six years old. During this time I have experienced a homely, friendly attitude from all staff, though they respect our dignity at all times, humorous banter is never far from the surface though! Rooms are en suite and comfortable, WiFi is available without the need for a modem (I have installed a well-known virtual assistant). The RNs provide an excellent nursing service and are on call day and night, as are care assistants. Food is good and nourishing without being too exotic. Altogether a pleasant experience which I can thoroughly recommend.
