My uncle was in your care for 6 years. During this time he was treated with kindness, care, respect and dignity. Living faraway it was reassuring to know that he was being looked after so well. I am so grateful for the excellence of care he received.

Reply from Sarah Hart, Home Manager at Fulford Care and Nursing Home

Thank you so very much for your kind words, they are much appreciated and I will be sharing them with the team. It was a pleasure to support and care for your uncle over the years, he has been greatly missed.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay on a two week respite at Fulford Care and Nursing Home, Littlehampton. I found the staff very friendly and helpful bar just one of the night staff. An excellent home just requiring some widening of corridors, but with excellent facilities.

Both my parents were in Fulford care and nursing home, mum for over 2 years and dad for 18 months. Dad sadly passed away in January and mum is still there.

Now what can I say I am so blessed to have the most wonderful care home. From the day I walked in to have a look around I knew that this was a home filled with love, kindness and a wonderful team. From the manager Sarah, supported in the office by Amy and Cath, Sharon and Chloe on reception. I would love to name everyone but you would be bored with my review. The team are made up of what I call my angels. Both my mum and dad had and have dementia which is a cruel disease. The residents have lots of activities which are fun for families to, singers, exercise classes, cooking the list is numerous run by the amazing Vicky and Sarah. A beautiful restaurant with great food choices. I am made to feel part of the Fulford family and kept totally up to date about my mum. When dad passed they were amazing. All I can say is thank you xxxxxxx

My Father was resident in Fulford Care home for the last weeks of his life, having previously suffered a fall and dementia. The care provided to him was exemplary in every way. Dad was treated with love and respect by all the staff. When we visited we were recognized and welcomed by all the staff on duty and felt cared for too.
The home also took great trouble to keep us informed of anything we needed to know about Dad's care.

Thank you to everyone at Fulford Care Home.

We were very hopeful that Fulford would provide the the level of care and interaction that our friend Ron deserved upstairs in the dementia unit. Sadly this has not been the case. Staff did not like the fact that(initially) he wandered into other residents room. Being doubly incontinent, the impression was , they just wanted him to 'be in his room' where they could perhaps control things. On every visit ( 2 or 3 visits a week) I have found him in his room often partially dressed and on his own The facilities at Fulford are fine, but in the case of Ron ,a very cheerful and sociable man of 95, there seemed little to no effort to engage with and try and celebrate his life. Fulford has said that they 'can't meet his needs' but Ron's dementia is very typical of many. Leaving him in his room on his own is not the way to show care and support. I cannot recommend Fulford dementia care.

I have 4-5 months experience of visiting my friend in the dementia unit of the care home. The reception staff were warm and friendly. Most of the care staff and seniors were kind and caring and most were patient . It is a large home (70 residents) and most staff work in all the units of the home and have to understand the needs of a great many people. My experience was that occasionally there was a breakdown of communication between staff and with me as friend and attorney. The care plans were inaccurate and not updated as my friend deteriorated and I wasn't convinced that staff were reading and following them. My friend needed help to manage eating and this wasn't immediately recognised and spilled food wasn't cleared promptly. Efforts were made by management to address my concerns but in the end I was unhappy with the consistency of care. However, my friend became ill and end of life care was provided in a manner that was sensitive to his needs and to mine as his friend and advocate

Extremely poor service. My friend is sleeping in her clothes unless I give her a shower and change her bedding, she will be dirty and wearing her clothes for 7 days!! This is bordering on abuse. Social worker is useless and couldn't care less. My friend has short term memory loss, doesn't interact with people, but is left for days without adequate care and paying for this service.

Reply from Sarah Hart, Home Manager at Fulford Care and Nursing Home

This review took us all by surprise and hurt the feels of the care staff who care and support the individual resident in question. I believe it is hard to express facts when only visiting the service once a fortnight, therefore, it saddens us as home to read an opinion which is not factual true....

I have only the best to say about Fulford. The staff have been incredible. I wouldn't of wanted my dad to have gone nowhere else. I will be very sad to say goodbye to everyone. My dad has come on so much in the six weeks that he has been there, and it's all thanks to the lovely staff. So thank you very much.

I have no experience of nursing homes, but from day one, the welcome my family and I get from Fulford is always very friendly and the staff remembers my name, which means so much when times are very emotional.

Fulford is very comfortable and feels cosy, so clean and always kept tidy.

The most amazing friendly and caring staff at this care home. Every single member of staff says hello when you walk past and you can see how much they are adored by the residents. I never once worry about my mum in their care. The home has so much light and a massive community feel. If you have the option for your loved one to stay here, grab it! I can promise you it will be the best decision you make for them! My mum is very happy here.

From our first contact three weeks ago to my mother leaving today, the service given by Agincare / Fulford has been excellent. We first contacted Fulford when my mother was in hospital after a fall. We wanted a local home to provide temporary care while we sorted out her house. She lives close to Fulford so it was a natural choice so her neighbours could visit ( that said, I checked out alternatives in Littlehampton and Fulford was the best option anyway).

The Portland Admin team have been very helpful throughout.

The staff at Fulford itself have been very friendly and caring for my mum. She has now moved to "in home" care for a while before hopefully moving to daily visits. We have engaged Agincare for the in home care based on our experience at Fulford and will consider them for daily visits.

The only negative comment relates to meals..my mother is a vegetarian but says on a number of occasions she was presented with a meal with meat. On each occasion, the meal was changed.
