Bramley Court Care Home is an award-winning, established Cambridgeshire care home providing high-quality residential, nursing and dementia care. In June 2023 it maintained its ‘Outstanding’ rating with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), testament to its consistent rating of excellence.

Bramley Court is a welcoming and social home decorated and furnished to a high standard. It features a lively bistro and bar, salon and cinema along with comfortable lounges and relaxing dining rooms, not to mention, the home's loving dog Pip. The tranquil sensory gardens are home to the unique outdoor ‘Bramley Village’. This dementia-friendly environment includes a gym, café, shop and mini golf course, all designed to bring purpose and a sense of familiarity to residents.

Care staff on my mother's floor (nursing) are very variable, some excellent, some OK, some unsatisfactory.
Often not enough care taken with positioning or feeding.
In my opinion, there is a bias towards entertaining the residents on the ground floor.
My mother cannot see much, meaning her main
pleasure is through music or interaction with others. This is not available enough on her floor.

Our dedicated team members are always on hand to support your mother during mealtimes and these interactions, along with the mealtime experiences of all residents across our home, are regularly observed by myself and senior members of our team as part of our quality assurance process. Our varied lifestyles and well-being schedule are a central part of life at Bramley and it's developed in partnership with our residents and what their interests are. Whilst some events are on our ground floor, being our largest communal area, residents from across our home join in too. We also hold a number of different events in our other communities as well as regular 1-2-1 time. We always encourage your mother to the variety of activities, including things like our weekly choir which we're delighted she enjoys. However, sometimes she doesn't feel like taking part and we will always respect her wishes. Please get in touch if you'd like to discuss anything at all.

We moved Mum from another home as we were unhappy with the care she was receiving. We had to try but were not sure it would make a difference. From day one, we knew we'd made the right decision. Bramley Court is very welcoming. It feels like a home environment, which not only the residents, but family
members too benefit from. Communication is excellent. The facilities and activities available are extremely high quality. All the staff are friendly, helpful and kind, even ones I encounter who are not part of Mum's team. Mum's carers and medics have taken time to understand and know her and us and it is wonderful to share humour, despite sad circumstances. The staff are patient and kind and go beyond duty, I feel, to try and improve her limited life quality. I believe Bramley to be exceptional care.

My mum, who is over 100 years old, is in end of life care. Sad of course for our family, but Bramley Court staff are so supportive of us and me in particular. Mum is very comfortable and in no kind of pain or distress and the carers really can't do enough for her. Bramley Court have kept us informed
of any developments and are happy to spend time with me when I visit.

An excellent care home. Cannot fault it at all. My husband has been there for about eight months and the care and nursing etc is all first class. The food is homemade, all the rooms are lovely and clean all the time. The staff are really caring and kind and thoughtful. They have a lovely garden for
all the patients and visiting relatives to sit in. Also, a lovely reading room and lounges to use. Home from home.

A wonderful care home. Staff are incredibly kind and patient and a truly welcoming place for relatives too. Never have a doubt that my mother is looked after to the very best of their ability. My father was also here for his final 18 months, from 2019-2021 and although he was lost mentally to Alzheimer’s,
he knew he was safe and loved. Staff still speak of him with great affection, which is an ongoing comfort to my mother. Even in the horrors of Covid, they did all they could to keep us connected as a family and I am so thankful they were with Dad at the end when we couldn’t be. They try and make every day as rich and rewarding as they can for the residents, to ensure they live their best possible lives, with love, joy and dignity.

My husband has been cared for at Bramley Court for nearly five years. The staff have been amazing. Struggling cheerfully, through all the covid problems. The continuity of familiar staff has been very important and indicative of a good working environment.

Bramley Court looked after my Father through Dementia and Cancer and are Currently looking after my Mother who has Hydrocephalus and Dementia. Both of them have been very happy there and the level of care and kindness shown to them has been outstanding. I would not hesitate to recommend Bramley Court

My cousin has been a resident in Bramley Court Care Home for the last two years. She has had to attend hospital on a few occasions, (not due to any mishaps within the home but through illness) everyone one at Bramley has treated her with love and kindness and made her feel safe. Unfortunately, she has
dementia and doesn't really know us now, but we know she is still treated with dignity and respect for which we are truly thankful.

My uncle stayed at Bramley Court for end of life care. He could not have found better care, he took part in all that he was able to do. Often telling us he had been to the gym - when he had been doing exercises. The nursing staff and carers were amazing with him, he had sores, but with their expertise
and care these healed making life more comfortable for him. During lockdown when unable to visit the staff assisted with Zoom calls so we could keep in touch and be able to see him. The staff supported the family by giving regular updates, showing care and compassion. My uncle would say 'they are looking after me well' which says it all really.

We moved my father to Bramley Court after a bad experience in a previous home. Immediately it became apparent that this place was special. 'Trust' - we trust Bramley with our dear Dad. They show immense love, kindness and patience with the residents, they seem to get to know them, not just as the people
they are, but as the people they were. My Dad was a shy, kind engineer; they know that, and he is treated as such. They deserve their good reputation.

I feel my father has been very well cared for on Damson Ward at Bramley Court. In comparison to other care homes we have experience of particularly in the recent pandemic, Bramley Court has done very well.

My husband's health was very poor during the Christmas period. Bramley Court provided excellent care and assistance to him and our family, so to enable us to all share the festivities together. We were given regular updates on his condition and doctor's visits were regular. Visits to the hospital, when
necessary were arranged for, with the accompaniment of a member of staff. He later died in hospital after Christmas. My only regret is that this could not occur at Bramley Court.

The staff at Bramley Court have provided a wonderful home for my mother who has dementia. They are respectful, considerate, encouraging and affectionate towards her.
A wide range of activities are on offer, taking into account the range of needs and preferences of the residents.
Every effort is
made to ensure that I am given regular feedback on my mother, resulting in me feeling able to relax and trust Bramley Court.

My husband has been resident at Bramley Court for just over 2 years, following a move from a more expensive but less satisfactory placement. He immediately became calmer and less distressed. As a family, we noticed the friendly and caring atmosphere. As his physical and mental condition has deteriorated,
his care needs have increased and this is fully catered for. I am confident that he is safe and well cared for when no visitor is with him. I also feel that the staff, especially senior members are also concerned for my welfare and I find them approachable and supportive. A friendly and happy home.

This was my first visit to see my sister and I had heard she had settled in well. This was borne out by her general appearance of being happy and in good health. She has gained a little weight which suggested she was being offered good food and I enjoyed all the meals we shared. Her room was tidy and

My husband moved from home to Bramley Court in April 2017 and has been well cared for during this time. His dementia is complex and undiagnosed. His state is that no two days are the same. The home organises so many activities, are varied so that it's possible to suit most residents. Singers, minibus
outings, church services and exercise classes of varying intensity. Walks to the local duck pond and around Bramley's garden to visit the Bramley Village shops within the grounds. The bedrooms are kept clean and tidy and the communal areas are likewise. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is an overall sense of care.

Judith

Judith Wroe

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

Judith has extensive senior care experience having worked in the sector since leaving college. In a career spanning over 20 years within elderly care, mental health and supported living management roles, Judith has run two large Bupa homes and held the position of Senior General Manager for Barchester Healthcare.


As head of the Bramley Family, Judith supports the continuation of outstanding, person-centred care that residents expect and deserve.


Speaking about her role, Judith said: “I love Bramley Court’s ethos of really getting to know and love our residents, looking beyond someone’s medical and physical needs, to deliver the best possible care. That’s something I’m really passionate about. We have a skilled, well-established team which put compassionate care at the forefront of everything we do.”


When not at Bramley Court, Judith enjoys spending time with her family. She likes to relax with a good book and also loves to travel.

Maureen

Maureen Hudson

Job Title: Director of Dementia Care Joined: 2009

Maureen began her career in care over 21 years ago as a carer in a nursing home and has been supporting older people in a variety of fulfilling roles ever since. She joined Bramley Court 12 years ago as a Senior Carer, quickly progressing to Team Leader where she was proud to oversee the launch of our dementia community. Later she became our Deputy Manager. However, supporting residents to live well with dementia has been a great passion for Maureen and led her to one of her proudest moments; winning the East of England Great British Care Award for Dementia Care in 2010. As Director of Dementia, Bramley Court is Maureen’s second home and she never wavers in her passion for respecting and supporting our residents to live their very best lives.
