Always find the staff and management friendly, welcoming and efficient. Catering staff are happy to serve refreshments to visitors. Excellent cleanliness in service users' rooms and public rooms. Staff are happy to assist service users with recreation outside the nursing environment and visits to places of interest.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review Ann and for your positive comments about the home and the team at Brooklyn House. Your feedback will be passed on to the team.
I was advised on the 13th of September by the hospital that there was nothing further that could be done for my father and that he would require end-of-life/palliative care for what remained of his life. Brooklyn House was recommended to me and I remain enormously grateful for that recommendation as I have to say the kindness and care they gave my father and the support they gave to the rest of my family during this extremely difficult time was just exceptional. The manager and his team were and remain faultless. A huge thank you from my brother and me.
Thank you, Lee, for your kind words and recognition of the team at Brooklyn House. We are really sorry for your loss and we hope we made your father's short time with us as peaceful as possible. Your comments will be passed on to the team.
An excellent care home. Friendly and informative. We had tried two others before discovering Brooklyn and this came out tops.
Many thanks for your positive review Janet. Your wonderful comments will be passed on to the team who will be delighted to hear your feedback.
It's taken me some time to write this review as I've been grieving for my dad. I just wanted to say the manager and his team were amazing, kind and caring and extremely knowledgeable. Not only did they care for my dad with the utmost professional and caring manner, they also supported us as a family. I was scared to leave my dad, but the manager and his team were truly amazing. I can't thank them enough.
We really appreciate you taking the time to convey your feelings, which we know must have been difficult and our thoughts are with you. Thank you, for your words of kindness and your comments have been passed on to the team. Thank you again, for the review.
The staff have always been very kind, caring and professional in their treatment of my Dad and towards us as a family.
Anyone who has had a family member in care during Covid times will understand how difficult it is for everyone concerned, but the wonderful team at Brooklyn House have kept us well informed and facilitated phone and Skype calls to my Dad when he was able to do this.
During a recent hospital visit, the staff at Brooklyn House still kept in touch with my Dad’s wife, ensuring she knew what was going on and providing reassurance to her.
It is important to me that it is easy to communicate with the home and its staff. I have found the staff helpful and willing to answer questions about our mother and facilitate direct calls with her. Since the covid-19 restrictions were eased, the staff have also been very helpful in arranging visits. For me, this reflects a strong caring ethos at the home where residents and their relatives are treated with dignity and respect.
I phoned the home to arrange a visit to see my mum (with my brother as well) and found the lady who answered was friendly and helpful. She was soon able to check the availability of the date I wanted and make the booking. Similarly, when my brother and I arrived to visit mum, the staff were friendly, welcoming and carried out all the necessary checks in an efficient and courteous manner.
The care home staff are very helpful and friendly. I felt that they look after my mother who suffers from dementia very well. The care home keeps us informed of my mother's wellbeing and we feel she benefits considerably from the care she receives.
Father in Law been a resident since the beginning of January and myself and my wife (his daughter) have been absolutely delighted with the exceptional level of care, understanding and consideration given to him and ourselves. Having lived with us for two and a half years and then being in hospital and transferred to the home from here what was initially devastating, we have realised, it has been the absolute best outcome in the circumstances as he has been transformed under their care from a poor diagnosis unable to walk or feed himself to now being able to do this and more, thank you Brooklyn House and staff for giving our dad his life back - highly recommended - it’s like being part of a wider family.
Everyone in the home gives my mum 100% plus in care and attention. I know she is safe and I don't have to worry, they keep me informed and I give them 10 out of 10 from food to the housekeepers, carers and nurses. I am so glad my mum is in Brooklyn House, it's worth every penny. Excellent. Thank you.
Lockdown was a very difficult time for everyone there but they did an amazing job caring for and protecting all the residents. My uncle was not the easiest man to care for but that never deterred the team from giving him the best possible care they could offer. They were very helpful and supportive especially during the last few days before he died.
I would highly recommend Brooklyn House to anyone who is looking for a caring nursing home for their loved one. Thank you all at Brooklyn House.
My dad spent the last two months of his life at Brooklyn House, all staff were very caring both to my dad and to us as a family. I would highly recommend this home to any families needing somewhere special for your relatives. We cannot thank them enough for making his last few weeks as pain-free and fun as they could. He made new friends with other residents and you never felt like you were being a burden when you rang to see how he was.
Mum has been in Brooklyn House since June 2019. The home provides excellent care. Throughout the Covid pandemic and when possible, they have provided controlled access to visit and when visits were not possible there was the opportunity to Skype. In Mum's case Skyping has required someone to sit with Mum and to chat with us. It has given us the opportunity to talk about Mum's past and we are sure that in the early days she recognised parts of this. It has been hard, but lovely, to see the staff stroking her hair when we have been unable to do this ourselves, but Mum could not be in better hands. We can rest assured that should there be any issues concerning Mum we are immediately notified. Likewise, any concerns which we may have are dealt with promptly. Thank you to the manager and to everyone at Brooklyn - a brilliant team.
By its very nature the nursing home is a sad place with very ill residents and must be very difficult to run. They try their best with my mother who is very difficult to communicate in any meaningful way.
We have nothing to compare the home with!? We are very happy with the home.
My mother in law was in Brooklyn House from April 2019 to Feb 2020. From our initial contact right through until her death this month she was treated exceptionally well. The care and compassion showed to all of us were way beyond our expectations.
We always received a warm, friendly and professional welcome. The care my wife received, was super and exceptional in all aspects. communication between staff, my daughters, our other visitors and myself was realistic, encouraging and helped us a great deal in coping with our eventual sad loss. Brooklyn house is well run, loving and caring to residents, families and other visitors.
I found all the staff to be caring, helpful, pleasant, polite, kind and professional. My mother received much better care in the 12 days she was there than in the nearly 7 weeks previously in hospital. The manager and administration staff were compassionate as well as helpful and efficient. Communication between staff regarding my mother and her changing needs was very good and we were updated regularly on our visits too. The importance of good communication cannot be overestimated. My mother was treated with respect, but kindness too and staff gave her the time she needed to try to eat and drink. (The only thing I was a little disappointed in, was that the television in the room did not seem to work properly.)
A big thank you to all the staff for making our family (and all of the friends who visited too) feel so welcome and valued.
My husband was in Brooklyn House in October sadly only for 5 days with Parkinsons and Dementia. I thank all the staff day and night for all their hard work and for always being there to help. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were very helpful and friendly and could always talk if you needed to. l would recommend this home as first class. Thank you all.
An extremely well-managed home with a friendly and homely atmosphere. There is always a nurse available to see or to telephone to discuss any concerns and nothing is too much trouble. Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2008 and is now in the late stages of this. The support provided by the home in taking Mum into their care has been a tremendous relief and the nursing care provided for her needs is second to none. The carers are friendly and without them being aware of our presence, we have seen the care and dignity shown towards Mum, especially when using the dreaded hoist. It is a great comfort to be able to trust others to look after someone so vulnerable and so very dear to us.
Such a warm, friendly, caring, supporting place would be harder to find than Brooklyn House. Sadly my Mum was not there for long but the time she was there she was happy cared for incredibly well. But what stands out the most is the support and care that we received as a family during our many visits and when eventually Mum passed away. The staff are wonderful.
