I can only talk for the Danbury unit at RBL Halsey but my mother has been there for a while now and is being cared for very well. Her room is spacious with generous en-suite toilet facilities, it is warm, clean and well maintained with any issues quickly dealt with by the maintenance team. We are always offered a drink on arrival and have witnessed meal times where the food looks nutritious & tasty. There are hydration stations dotted around the home which can be used by anyone anytime and residents are encouraged to drink regularly. During the day the staff are usually found gathering residents into some form of daily activity keeping minds and bodies active. Staff often take them over to the main building for larger gatherings and dances etc. Overall having initially placed my mum in another local home we have found she has settled better at Halsey and that alone is a massive weight off our minds.

Mum moved to the Danbury unit in May. After a period of adjustment and feeling anxious and unsettled, Mum is very happy and is now settled. She is well cared for, enjoys the variety of activities. She eats well and says she loves it here.

We are very happy with the care she gets, the staff are lovely and keep us well informed about Mum. Communication is good and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We are so grateful for all they do and knowing mum is there and happy is a huge comfort to us.

My Dad has been a resident at Halsey House for 4 months. I have been so impressed by the staff (all who are friendly, professional and treat residents and family with fantastic care). The environment is lovely, with plenty of open areas to access including two dining areas, a bar, a chapel, a library and several lounges. The daily activities are wonderful and very inclusive for all residents. The care my father gets with his personal activities of daily living is delivered with great personal care and support by all staff. I love that I can visit whenever and take my dog which adds such an extra layer of home from home feeling. I can also say my Dad's mood has improved significantly. Thank you all at Halsey House.

The review was totally satisfactory in every respect. As a family, we have no concerns with the standard of care provided at Halsey House and consider Mum to be fortunate to be cared for by a dedicated staff in excellent surroundings.

My friend has settled into Halsey House now after and initial trial period. She particularly enjoys the activities on offer eg: tai chi, carpet bowls and musical events.

She is well cared for with staff being friendly, compassionate and reliable. However, when visiting on a Saturday when no staff at reception, I was buzzed in, I found out later that the home had COVID cases and I wasn't told.

My sister and I are very pleased with the care which our mother receives at Halsey House, where she has been living for the last five years. The staff are very caring and mum is well looked after and happy. She is encouraged to join in the activities, especially art and singing, which she has always enjoyed.

My father moved into the nursing ward of the Royal British Legion care home at Halsey House in August 2022.

I had visited the home previous to his becoming a resident and could see how good it was but it has surpassed my expectations. The staff have been amazing at settling my father in and it is obvious in his contented manner.

My mother has been a resident here for over 5 years. She is overall very happy although boredom can be an issue now her mobility is less good. There could be a little more to do in the evening. She is always treated in a manner that maintains her dignity and there is plenty of activities daily. She never complains about the food. Communication between myself and the home could be better. We are very pleased with the care Mum is given and I have no hesitation in recommending this home.

Over the last twelve months, this home has greatly improved in all aspects. It is now close to the excellent standard it has achieved previously. As we all care homes the most significant issue is recruiting staff and although this is an ongoing challenge. I am pleased to say all new recruits are excellent.
