My father's been here for over three years and I can't fault the care he has received. The staff are kind, caring always treats him with respect and one of the family. They have always been supportive towards me and my family and are always on hand to answer any questions I have. It really does feel
like my second home.

The staff show true care and respect for Mum. They have quickly learnt her preferences, and make a point to visit regularly for social stimulation. Everyone is so welcoming and involved. There are a number of real stars on staff, and some quieter folk who make sure care is there in their own way. Thanks
for being there and doing what we cannot do alone.

My Dad has been in Heron Lodge since December and in that time the difference in him is wonderful. His mobility has improved and he seems himself again. The staff go out of their way to get smiles and I am always greeted on arrival and given updates. The home is always clean and there seems to be a
good variety of food on offer.

Dad went into Heron Lodge after 6 weeks in hospital. The staff at Heron Lodge are very caring and patient and treat him with dignity. The food is excellent and the home is very homely and visitors are made very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble from any member of the team.

I have found the care given to my cousin perfectly satisfactory. Staff are very patient with her as we know she can be very awkward at times, for which we thank them very much. Also, we are kept updated with any change of circumstances.

After my husband was in a previous home for only one week and came away very ill and could not talk or walk after that, he is now able to do both and it has made him accept he will not be able to come home to me. Heron Lodge is a very homely place for both the residents and their family's. I would really
recommend them very highly to anyone.

My husband came here in quite a poorly way. He has made remarkable progress with the care and consideration of the staff and doctor together with the home cooked food which he has much enjoyed.
He has been treated with kindness and dignity throughout and I know will miss everyone.
The nurses have
been most helpful and seem to have the balance of medication.

My Husband has just spent two weeks at Heron Lodge, for me to have some respite care. In that time he was treated very well and was always happy when I went to see him. The staff could not be more kind or courteous, always willing to help in any way that they could. I felt I was leaving him in very
capable care. The home was spotlessly clean and tidy and the food was exceptionally good. They had a very good activities plan, with a firework display organised on Bonfire Night, which all the residents enjoyed, with soup, hotdogs etc to warm them up when they came in. Overall an extremely good home.

My mother is very comfortable in this nursing home. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. When we visit, we are always made to feel welcome and knowing that mother is being looked after well takes a great deal of pressure off us. If my mother is unwell, we are informed immediately.

I have been at Heron Lodge now for four months. After the initial settling in period, I have got used to different staff and they are used to me and my needs. I find that most of the time they are very helpful and caring and carry out their caring duties in a friendly and pleasant manner. The nursing
staff are very efficient and always ready to help solve any problems that might arise.

Heron Lodge takes care of all their residents and their individual needs are always prioritised. Where the home loses marks is in the activities available to residents. This is nearly zero and needs a person appointed or establish some activities during the days and to discover what the residents would
appreciate and take part in. Music is always therapeutic, but sadly missing as a rule, as is appropriate TV programmes.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.397)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.397) out of 10 for Heron Lodge Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.622 for Heron Lodge Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (94 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 127 Ratings = 4.622
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Heron Lodge Nursing Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
