Iceni House, located in the pleasant community of Swaffham in Norfolk, is purpose-built to suit a variety of care needs, including people with dementia care and physical frailties or disabilities.

The home has light and airy en-suite rooms decorated to a high standard. Residents are welcome to bring their own furniture to help them feel at home.

The two dedicated units - residential and dementia care - each has its own communal areas in which to socialise or enjoy peace and quiet. There is also a pretty private garden for residents to enjoy and a dedicated activities room.

There are plenty of activities on offer and family and friends are encouraged to visit.

Iceni House is located close to public transport links which allows residents to make the most of the wonderful Norfolk towns, villages and countryside.

Each resident has a personal care plan designed to maximise their independence. The experienced carers are directed by Unit Managers.

I find all staff at Iceni House very friendly, genuine and caring. I am aware that even the admin/office staff visit and chat to residents. I am very content for my parent to be cared for by the staff at Iceni House.
As with life in general, nothing can be perfect all the time.

As I live over 200 miles away from Iceni House I have every faith in the care given to my brother. He feels happy and well cared for in this safe environment. We are able to contact him via telephone between visits just for a chat. The management and admin team will keep us informed of any issues regarding
his care or needs which is very reassuring.

The staff are friendly and seem to genuinely care about the residents.
The food is good, portions are suitable for the residents and help is given to those who need it generally.
Maintenance and cleanliness of the rooms, however, is not good. Carpets need deep cleaning/replacing and wall fixings for
the carers documents have been broken for over a year.
Furniture is old and tired.
The interior design in the main areas has greatly improved lately with interesting features, stencils and replaced photographs/pictures on the walls.

My aunt has Alzheimer's and does not recognise her relatives. When we visit it is clear that she feels happy and secure in her environment. She is given the freedom to do as much or as little as she wants to, with activities regularly provided for the residents.

My husband has been in care in Iceni House for over 4 1/2 years and I have been extremely happy with the care he has received there. The staff are really caring with my husband so that I don't have to worry all the time that he is Ok. The staff are also caring to me when I visit him.

My dad has now been in this home for 9 months, from the management to the staff they are all amazing, the services which they provide are excellent, especially the activities. The care which the residents receive is five star, I go nearly every day and I always observe and there is never any change,
they look after them excellently. Well done Iceni you all do a great job.

A have visited an old friend at your Swaffham home for some 2-3 months. He is happy as he can be but finds being in a home difficult to accept as most patients are older than him.
His major concern is that he understands staff cuts are on the cards?
Reply from Anjum Hussain, Director at Swaffham HouseThanks for taking the time to submit a review - and I am pleased that you would be happy to recommend us. I will be in touch with you directly to confirm that there is absolutely no plans to cut staff and will pass the same message to the resident. On the contrary, we are currently in the process of recruiting additional care staff to build on the strong team at the home.

My first impressions of Iceni House were of a welcoming and homely environment. The home is well managed with friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble.
Dad has only been at the care home a short time, but with the help of the wonderful staff and management, he has settled in very well.
The food
is very good and the activities/entertainment on offer are excellent.

This is a very caring home - standard does vary due to who the team leader is. Generally, it is good - the food is delicious - the cleanliness is of a high standard. Residents are not pressured at all - they can go at their own pace with encouragement from the majority of staff.

Iceni House has a friendly and supportive approach for both residents and family members.
The staff are willing to listen and offer help and information about any concerns visitors may express and are open to different ideas.
Residents likes and dislikes are considered and everyone is treated as
an individual.
Public areas look bright and interesting with wall displays to remind residents of past times and activities.
A good home serving the local area.

My husband went into Iceni House in January 2016. We have been kept well informed if he isn't well, or had to go into hospital. He is happy there and well fed. He is also clean and tidy. We as a family visit four times a week, the staff always speak to us. My husband won't go to activities. I don't
have any complaints.

Iceni House has had many changes over the last few months. The manager has brought in several improvements including better training, increased residents activities and has generally elevated standards. The carers which look after my mum work kindly, holistically and completely. The atmosphere has generally
"lifted". The carers, on the whole, appear happy and always ready to assist my mum! I do feel the activities could be improved but I am assured that this is being addressed. I would also mention that the staff are always kind to my father.

Although my mother only stayed at Iceni House for three months she was in the best possible hands. The staff are amazing giving themselves 100%. They take the time to discussing everything with you very attentive and respectful. The building is clean, no bad smells and the rooms are bright and airy.
After my mother's death the staff did not just let us go they stayed with us until we left her offering us support. Another good thing was that you could call anytime and if mum as asleep they would take the time to have a chat.

Job Title: Operations Manager

My career began as a Care Assistant and evolved through positions including Home Cook, Deputy Manager, and Registered Manager. This journey has equipped me with a 360-degree insight into care home operations and the needs of both residents and staff.

A significant part of my professional focus has been on supporting and transforming services that require strong leadership, dedication, and a clear improvement strategy. I have successfully turned around homes needing guidance and have also played a central role in commissioning new services. These combined experiences led me to my current role as Operations Manager at Kingsley Healthcare. Since joining the organisation, I have received unwavering support, guidance, and reassurance.

Outside of work, I am a proud parent of three children who keep me active and grounded. Family is incredibly important to me, and we enjoy spending quality time together -especially swimming, with rock climbing a close second on our list of favourite activities.
