A Victorian country house built in the 1860s by a naval admiral for his family, the Depperhaugh Nursing Home has been converted to accommodate adults who require 24-hour care.
The home is set in seven acres of beautiful gardens, with a large and picturesque pond. There is a wealth of wild birds to be seen - ducks, pheasants, wrens, woodpeckers, finches and barn owls - and often a glimpse of animal...

Cannot say enough of my thanks and gratitude to all the staff. They are caring and courteous in the extreme, always smiling and a joy to deal with. They all treat their charges with care and dignity. Thank you all.
My dad has been in Depperhaugh Hall for over a year. He is settled, well cared for, treated with respect and they genuinely care. He has definitely improved health and happiness wise under their care. Thoroughly recommend Depperhaugh Hall.
The staff have been fantastic. My step-father went in ten days before he died of cancer. They managed his pain levels, dealt with his difficult nature and were so understanding. They showed care and compassion and looked after someone who was dying with real dignity and understanding. Thank you Depperhaugh for all you did.
Truly grateful to everyone knowing how tough it’s been on the staff and their families.
Thank you for your review and such kind words. We will pass your gratitude on to the staff, and we look forward to seeing you when you next visit.
We are very happy with the care and attention he has and is receiving from the lovely carers.
The last year has been extremely challenging for everyone, especially care homes, and the Depperhaugh has coped admirably.
The last 12-months have been extremely challenging with the onset of the pandemic. The Depperhaugh rose to the challenge and has protected my mother and adapted very quickly to enable video conference to the residents at times to suit both family and residents.
They have an open line. so making contact is very easy, and the care that my mother has received has been very good indeed.
I have been delighted with the nursing care my mother received. She was very poorly when she went to reside as The Depperhaugh but the staff were able to get her eating and walking. Unfortunately, her cancer spread so the staff gave her end of life care. They were professional, kind and caring at all times. I want to say they "went the extra mile".
My father was admitted to the Depperhaugh and was treated with dignity and respect. The house is an old manor house set out in the country surrounded by beautiful Suffolk countryside. This lovely old house would definitely suit anybody that likes peace and quiet and the sound of birds. The manager of the Depperhaugh was a very understanding lady and went out of her way to help my 81-year-old father on his respite stay here.
I really recommend The Depperhaugh.
My father sadly died here in February 2019. He was receiving cancer care from October 2018 for 4 months. His end of life was lovely, kind and considerate in his final days.
The Depperhaugh is warm and welcoming and has little of the institutional feel so often found in residential care. The grounds are lovely, the food is good and well presented, but the real strength of the Home is the quality of the care. From the Manager downwards, staff are kind and caring and residents are treated with dignity and respect. This is a happy Home where laughter is often to be heard, a tribute to the dedication of the staff.
My uncle came into Depperhaugh 4 years ago with end of life care. In the 4 years he's been there, he's flourished with the care and attention he's received. I would recommend this place to anyone. Lovely caring staff.
I visit my husband daily and I am always struck by the kindness and patience of the staff. This is a very friendly home. They treat my husband with respect, gentleness, and good humor. My dog and I are greeted warmly by them all. I wish they were paid more.
All the staff are very approachable, considerate and always helpful.
The manager is amazing and will help with anything where ever possible. All the carers treat my dad with the utmost respect and treat him as an individual.
After a shaky start, I find that the care here is extremely good. The carers and nurses treat the residents with respect and try to help them retain their dignity as much as possible. They truly seem to 'care' about their residents and can always spare some time to answer any queries I may have.
The home itself is comfortable, warm and homely and visitors are allowed to come and go as they please and, it seems, whenever they please.
The activities carer works hard to stimulate the resident's memories and my husband really enjoys these moments. It would be good to have more of this as my husband and some of the other residents really need stimulation to keep them with us mentally for as long as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Your feedback is highly appreciated and important to us. We agree that activities are very important for the residents emotional well being. As good people are the key to great care we have now appointed a new award-winning Activities Co-ordinator....
I am not aware of all the safety and security procedures so I could not give a proper rating. On the surface, they seem good.
Although all the staff are good some are more outstanding than others. More should be done to help retain staff (higher wages?) since some of them seem dissatisfied.
I have been hugely impressed by the care at The Depperhaugh. The staff have a depth of experience and real care for residents. The Depperhaugh is a peaceful and loving environment and the home and gardens are also very well maintained, which adds considerably to the good environment.
Residents well cared for. Premises clean.
Pleasant staff, always ready to help.

Meet the Team (3)

I have worked at Depperhaugh since January 2022 having come from Norfolk and Norwich Hospital having worked there for 17 years. At Norfolk and Norwich, I worked in Intensive Care and medicine for the Elderly and then became a Clinical Educator, and then a Ward Sister within Gynaecology. I chose to come to Depperhaugh Nursing Home because I wanted to come back to my roots, having started my care career in the same area. Person-centred care and offering residents dignified care has always been a passion for me and Depperhaugh is a great place to embrace this passion. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, walking with the dog and taking the opportunity to relax. Although my job comes with great responsibility it is incredibly rewarding to watch the home grow and evolve with great staff to support me.

After qualifying as a nurse in my homeland of Romania, I moved to England to work for Kingsley Healthcare. I have worked at The Depperhaugh for over 9 years, joining as a staff nurse in December 2014. We are lucky to have many long-serving staff who see this as their home and regard the residents and their colleagues as family. I love working with people and, as a qualified nurse, I like to get involved in the care side as much as the management side. I like to see people getting better as it means we are doing our job properly.

I started work at The Depperhaugh in August 2019 as a support worker. I enjoyed my time in care and covered a mixture of both days and nights. I have a caring nature and take pride in my work, so when the head housekeeper position became available, I was ready for a new challenge. I am proud to be part of a hardworking team that ensures the home is kept to a high standard of cleanliness. We received great feedback and appreciate that people are aware of our hard work.
