A Victorian country house built in the 1860s by a naval admiral for his family, the Depperhaugh Nursing Home has been converted to accommodate adults who require 24-hour care.
The home is set in seven acres of beautiful gardens, with a large and picturesque pond. There is a wealth of wild birds to be seen - ducks, pheasants, wrens, woodpeckers, finches and barn owls - and often a glimpse of animal...

My Nan was in this care home for around 13 weeks before she suddenly passed away, was such a shock. But the love and care that my Nan received, we couldn't be any happier. From the second she arrived everyone made her feel welcome, loved and part of the family. Anything she wanted she had and the service was top-notch. The cleanliness and hygiene were superb. Couldn't have wished for a nicer care home for my Nan to go in. Thank you for all that you did for her.
Absolutely outstanding home. To the maintenance of the home to the well-being of those in their care to the staff, caterers, cleaners, admin etc. All very warm and welcoming. The environment is fantastic for the residents, calm and relaxing.
Lovely welcoming home and staff. Fantastic atmosphere and lots of activities and events planned for all the residents. When given a tour the home was clean, tidy and the rooms are large and comfortable. The manager answered all our questions and made us feel at ease.
I like the staff, who look after me very well and know that how I feel can vary a lot. They keep me clean and comfortable and help me choose the clothes to wear for the day, and they respect my wishes. The food is very nice and staff help me with eating when needed. The Home help me celebrate family occasions such as our Golden Wedding and my husband’s birthday and welcome my visitors. I enjoy many of the activities provided. I enjoy the grounds, which are very nice, and I like the help of the gardener with growing my own plants.
As a family, we are truly welcomed, we share family lunches, the food is fresh, delicious and home-cooked. Recently, the wonderful manager, catering and care staff provided a very special 80th birthday lunch and let us hold a family party to celebrate Dad's birthday, decorating the lounge. We can't thank the manager and wonderful staff at The Depperhaugh enough for making this possible and Dad's birthday a truly special and memorable occasion for us to cherish! It was truly wonderful to have this opportunity and to see Dad so very happy. Thank you.
So nice to see the same familiar staff caring for my dad, they all work so hard to make all the residents and the family members feel at home. Always willing to listen and help with any issues. The grounds of the home are beautiful and well looked after. I particularly like the communal spaces and can always find a lovely spot for Dad and me to do reading or a game of bat and ball. The home always smells fresh and clean and it’s so clean for an old building, I think the choice of meals each day and the quality of the food is very good. We are lucky.
My brother has been a resident of The Depperhaugh Nursing Home for over 9 years. He has been looked after very well and is happy there, he gets on very well with all the staff, they look after his needs and make sure he is comfortable. He is always dressed nicely. The home is always clean and tidy and the rooms are spotless.
My father has been in The Depperhaugh for over a year and has been steadily declining. The staff have been brilliant and stepped up his care to cater for his declining health; they are kind, patient and friendly and I’m enormously grateful for all the hard work they do for all the residents. They always make dads visitors feel welcome and the activities coordinator is amazing at arranging a range of activities - from painting and crafts, to opera singers and violinists, to giant bunny rabbits and petting animals - all which the residents and visitors love. Highly recommend this care home for your loved ones! Thank you to all the incredible staff who go above and beyond
My mum has lived at Depperhaugh since January 2023. The manager has been very supportive and helpful either by face-to-face meetings or email. Staff always give a warm welcome to me when visiting, being able to brief me on Mum's day. Mum is cared for to the highest standards, respected and treated with dignity throughout. The food is very good, always a choice, and freshly made in the kitchen. The home is warm and comfortable, and being refurbished over the last year, with minimum disturbance to residents. Very reassuring to know Mum to being looked after so well.
I normally visit The Depperhaugh nursing home once a week. I think it is a marvellous institution. There is a friendly feeling as you enter, the staff are friendly and quite obviously very caring. The home is immaculate and every effort (very imaginative) is made to entertain the patients. The staff I have spoken to have been there some time, a good sign.
The Depperhaugh is a brilliant nursing home and my father is well looked after there. The staff are very caring and friendly too when we visit him. Dad is very comfortable and they are on top of any changes to his health. Communication with both Mum and I is excellent. The food is delicious, and the dining room is such a wonderfully bright room with a lovely view of the beautiful grounds.
As a family we were treated very well being able to spend time, enjoy meals and activities with our dad.
Unfortunately our dad passed away recently and the last few days in the home we were all treated with the highest care and attention. Nothing was too much trouble receiving refreshments, quiet space, and emotional support with clear explanations of the situation.
We would highly recommend The Depperhaugh to anyone looking for a residential home for their loved ones.
We have enjoyed our time at the home supporting Dad and will miss many of the amazing staff.
Staff are always cheerful and helpful.
Spotlessly clean and odourless.
Dad well looked after and cared for as he wishes to stay in bed all the time. The home is always very clean and tidy. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The staff are always busy and always happy working alongside each other.
So lovely to see my dearest friend settled in her beautiful new home. It’s clear to see she is happy and very well looked after by all of the staff. The Depperhaugh has a lovely feel about it, warm and welcoming every time I have visited.
Very happy with the care that is provided for my mum. She is always clean and happy, the food seems to be excellent. The home is a really good size, so everyone knows everyone and the staff seem to know and attend to my mum's particular needs very well. Activities have been reintroduced recently and seem engaging for those who wish to partake. Lovely garden too.
The staff at the home were amazing, looking after both my stepfather and stepmother almost at the same time, with great professionalism and care. The actual premises is definitely in need of an update. The administration staff on the other hand, we found very officious and uncaring. They need to practice their customer service skills.
We joined for a wonderful afternoon of celebration for the Queen's platinum jubilee. All the staff we extremely friendly and nothing was not too much effort to ensure all the residents' needs were being met. The food was delicious and the cakes divine. A wonderful atmosphere surrounded the afternoon. A lot of thought and effort had definitely been considered when putting on this event for residents and their friends and family. Beautiful setting, caring staff. Would highly recommend this care home to other friends and family.
A lovely care home situated on gorgeous grounds. All staff are kind and caring. The management works so hard. I would recommend this home to any of my family who were in need. The food is all cooked fresh and looks amazing.
My Mum has been in the Depperhaugh for about 18 months, through the pandemic. She has deteriorating dementia and I was concerned about her settling into a new environment. However, she has settled in well and enjoys the fact that there is always someone around to interact with. The staff have been amazing and showed both care and kindness to Mum. They have kept me up to date when we have not been allowed to visit and have always informed me of any incidents that have occurred. I am very happy with the care that she has received in very difficult circumstances for the staff and I would recommend the Depperhaugh to others.

Meet the Team (3)

I have worked at Depperhaugh since January 2022 having come from Norfolk and Norwich Hospital having worked there for 17 years. At Norfolk and Norwich, I worked in Intensive Care and medicine for the Elderly and then became a Clinical Educator, and then a Ward Sister within Gynaecology. I chose to come to Depperhaugh Nursing Home because I wanted to come back to my roots, having started my care career in the same area. Person-centred care and offering residents dignified care has always been a passion for me and Depperhaugh is a great place to embrace this passion. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, walking with the dog and taking the opportunity to relax. Although my job comes with great responsibility it is incredibly rewarding to watch the home grow and evolve with great staff to support me.

After qualifying as a nurse in my homeland of Romania, I moved to England to work for Kingsley Healthcare. I have worked at The Depperhaugh for over 9 years, joining as a staff nurse in December 2014. We are lucky to have many long-serving staff who see this as their home and regard the residents and their colleagues as family. I love working with people and, as a qualified nurse, I like to get involved in the care side as much as the management side. I like to see people getting better as it means we are doing our job properly.

I started work at The Depperhaugh in August 2019 as a support worker. I enjoyed my time in care and covered a mixture of both days and nights. I have a caring nature and take pride in my work, so when the head housekeeper position became available, I was ready for a new challenge. I am proud to be part of a hardworking team that ensures the home is kept to a high standard of cleanliness. We received great feedback and appreciate that people are aware of our hard work.
