My mother finds most of the carers understanding, kind and very helpful. The odd carer can be a little abrupt but this is probably due to 'time pressures'. Overall the facilities are very good and the cleanliness of the room and public areas very good. My mother finds a lack of choice within the food and often can't manage with what is offered. However, overall she is happy at Kingfisher and we are pleased with the level of care and attention that is given to her.

The care and assistance is excellent - staff are very good and caring, treated with dignity. Laundry service not considered satisfactory - clothes are laundered okay, but tend to get lost - new skirt and nightdress lost and never found. Washing now done by daughter to avoid loss. Sandwiches often very sparse with fillings.

My father has been a resident for 2 and half years now. Staff always welcoming to visitors at any time and always make the effort to talk to me about my father's condition etc. The place is always clean, bright and nicely decorated, the lounge has nice chairs to sit in. The garden is a great asset. Staff friendly and treat residents with respect.

My husband has on the whole, been well looked after at Kingfisher. The only complaint I've got is the fact he has lost so many of his clothes during his stay and I have been reimbursed with some money but not for all his losses.

Some of the staff are very good and I can find no fault, but there are one or two who should not be in a caring job, but they are in the minority.

The staff are very kind and caring. They make me feel very confident that my dad is well cared for and that he is happy. The staff are also really kind and helpful to me and our family, especially to my children (12 and 14-year-old boys) who come to visit. I am happy to knowing that my dad is safe and happy now and we can no longer keep him at home with us. I have recommended the home to people I know.

A good care home, with staff that are caring and work in difficult situations at times. Residents have a variety of entertainment that they seem to enjoy. Could possibly have more outside entertainers come in per month. Meals are well balanced, healthy and very good. I have asked the manager about changing the carpet repeatably over the last 6-8 months as it smells strongly, but this hasn't happened so far.

My mother is looked after very well, she is well fed. We wish she was able to move out of bed more regularly. Initially, it appeared there were more carers and they had time to talk more with us, it is not so easy to speak to with them today.

Overall it is a good service, we just wish the carers had more time.

Review from Gordon B (Husband of Resident) published on 10 February 2017 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
The placing of my wife was the best possible outcome. I had looked after my wife since 2009 following her stroke. I had an accident at work before I retired and have a broken back, for which there is no treatment.
With the back injury, I was at the end of my tether after 7 years and near to having a breakdown. So with my wife coming to Kingfisher relieved all the stress and also having my wife being looked after at Kingfisher in such a wonderful way.
Her care at times can be difficult, but I know it has been second to none.
I think all the staff love her and are wonderful. I cannot speak highly enough about Kingfisher. I know my wife is being cared for in a way that I could not.

Thank you all.

Since the appointment of the care manager, the care home has rapidly gone downhill.

The staff are despondent and unhappy in their work, which inevitably impacts on the residents.

I have completed this on behalf of my father who is unable to write legibly.
My father is settled and reasonably happy. He likes his carers and enjoys the activities organised with the other residents.

He needs help, which is given with daily things. Nursing care is always available when needed and his room is clean and warm.

Staff seem very attentive and kind. Mum has found the transition very difficult but she knows she is in the best place.
We (the family) are all very grateful to the lovely, kind and patient staff who take care of her.

Thank you.

My mother went into Kingfisher House in November 2013, she died on 9/3/2016.
I can only say how good my mothers care was. She was always clean, her skin was always intact. My mother was bed-bound and when she was in hospital they were always amazed her skin was intact. She came out of hospital with bed sores.

They gave my mother all her meals as she could not feed herself. She was always treated with love and dignity.
