Mabbs Hall care home delivers nursing and mental health care to up to 29 residents.

Mabbs Hall is located in the small market town of Mildenhall, Surrey. It is a short drive into Cambridge and just a mile from Thetford Forest Park, a 47,000-acre forest providing plenty of opportunities for excursions and exploring. Closer to home, there are numerous shops and restaurants moments from the home, as well as a large park and the River Lark.

The home itself is elegantly decorated and sits in a quiet, residential close. Most bedrooms are single but there are two double rooms for couples. CCTV is located in communal areas including the two lounges, a dining room and a landscaped garden, where wildlife such as deer often roam among the raised flowerbeds that keen gardeners can use.

There are choices of home-cooked balanced meals available at mealtimes and dietary requirements are catered for.

I have found the staff to be very helpful and considerate. As an older home, it is in need of modernisation and the surrounds need more attention (rear garden).

The Home is being refurbished area by area. The garden is being looked after by an outside company who had been requested to clean and tidy up every two weeks. There is a newly refurbished pergola in the rear garden. The rear garden is being prepared for the spring and summer activities.

Regarding the recent report published by CQC: We do not feel that this is a fair refection of Mabbs Hall, we challenged the factual accuracy of this report as we don’t believe the CQC has taken our comments into account properly, especially in evidencing the positive points of the inspection. We are however, working hard to improve Mabbs Hall and we shared our own improvement plan with the CQC at the time of the inspection. We are continuing to develop and enhance Mabbs Hall, for the benefit of all interested parties

I am a registered mental Health nurse, with many years’ experience of working in health and social care. I have been a registered manager in both domiciliary and residential care, but feel my heart as a registered manager is within the care home setting. I like to get to know the residents and their families so that they can be best supported. As a manager and nurse, I believe in treating our residents with dignity, respect and an individually tailored approach.

I have been a nurse, deputy manager, registered manager, quality manager & assistant director. I have been an operations director for many years prior to joining this company, I have a passion for making a difference and a wide knowledge base, and I love working and being a leader in social care.
