My father had an incident with an agency carer. My family and I have had amazing support from both care home manager and all her staff. We moved dad here earlier this year and it was the best thing we could have done. His last home wasn't clean and I don't think he had the care we expected.

We are an elderly couple who needed two weeks respite care, we did not realise it was a dementia home; we do now!! So we could not be together in the same room, or next door. We needed somewhere quickly, so hence here, as our children live here. We have now been here and will be until Friday for two
weeks. The staff on dementia are amazing with their care, all of the staff. Just not appropriate for us, will know better need time if we need it, hopefully not.

It was never our intention for Mum to move into a care home but, unfortunately, Parkinson's had other ideas. From our first contact with Rendlesham Care Centre we felt welcomed and a visit was arranged. The staff spent time showing us round and everyone was friendly and spoke to Mum. The manager made
time to chat with us and it took no time for Mum to decide that this was the place for her.
Mum has been in the home for a month and we can't believe the improvement in her overall well-being. The staff are down to earth, kind and caring and treat Mum as an individual. We discussed her choices and life history and it is evident that this information has been read and used to really get to know her and support her accordingly. For the first time in ages, Mum is looking forward to things in life and is enjoying the company and activities. The manager is a positive leader with clear values that are reflected in the staff members' attitudes. It is so comforting to see Mum happy and settled.

We moved our father to Rendlesham Care Home just over a year ago from another care home in the area. He has suffered with vascular dementia for over 7 years and transferring him to Rendlesham has been the best move possible.
He has changed from being withdrawn and underweight to a healthy, chirpy and
challenging resident!
The home and it's staff are warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.
There have been management changes since he arrived but it has never appeared to affect that daily running of the home.
The new manager has a wealth of experience and has taken over the role both smoothly and efficiently. Staff continuity in his wing is constant - recognition and familiarity is so important to him and everyone is like an extended family.
An excellent chef produces good home cooking, which dad loves. This is a happy place to live and we have no hesitation in recommending the home.

My husband has been a resident for nearly 9 months. During that time there have been some issues. For the last three months, under the new manager everything is improving. The new manager works relentlessly and it is now a very caring home. There is very good teamwork and the staff like the manager.
She is popular with the staff, residents and friends of the residents and consequently there is a very happy atmosphere here.

Lovely kind care assistants and RGN's, however insufficient trained staff on duty at any one time. Washing up arrangements n residents lounge are sadly lacking. No sterilization, cups chipped and stained, no obvious thorough cleaning of work surfaces. The call bell system could be improved. Could not
each section be isolated (except for the emergency call) thereby lessening the continuous bell ringing??

I would recommend Rendlesham Care Centre as the team looked after our dad with such grace and compassion in his last days, he really thought he was already in heaven. Thank you so much from all the Knapp family.

My 92 year old mother has been living at Rendlesham for a year now. She has dementia and doesn't understand why she is not in her own home. So life is difficult and confusing for her and she can easily become unsettled.

The staff at Rendlesham make every effort to make her day happy. They are

very kind and do their best to provide a stimulating environment for her. She likes her room and enjoys the food. The staff always make time for conversation when they come to see her in her room. She always seems happy whenever I visit. Day to day nursing care is dealt with efficiently and I trust the home to look after my mother's best interests. Month on month, my mother becomes more accepting and trusting in her new home.

Dad has thoroughly enjoyed his stay. He thought the food was wonderful, as were the staff and care he received. He felt safe and had plenty of company he would happily come again. As his daughter, I felt entirely happy to leave him in your care, and speaking to him whilst I was away I knew he was in
good hands.
Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.401)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.401) out of 10 for Rendlesham is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.401 for Rendlesham is calculated as follows: ( (179 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (16 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 279 Ratings = 4.401
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rendlesham is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
