Thank you to Rendlesham Care Home. My mum enjoyed her three-week stay. Mum went into your care after having several falls at home. We are pleased to say she is now regaining her confidence. The staff and management have been brilliant, delivering very friendly expert care.

Most care homes have standard rooms, standard furniture, en suite in the corner and glowing platitudes from the manager, so it really comes down to the quality of staff that deliver after you have taken the plunge. At Rendlesham you can feel the warmth when you walk through the door and the smiles tell
you all you need to know. The staff are not just doing a job, they genuinely care for thier patients. My partner has been there for 4 weeks and her cognitive awareness has improved more than could be achieved by any medication. With Care UK now having taken the reins, the future looks bright for this home and I am very pleased with my choice of home for my loved one.

I was only in care centre for 10 days. It covered the christmas period.
My short stay was made very comfortable and I enjoyed Christmas. I should be back again for two weeks, after I get or if I get my op for hip replacement. Management and staff were all very kind and caring.
Reply from Rhiannon Freeman-Gray, Divisional Marketing Manager at Rendlesham Care CentreThanks very much for taking the time to review us! We're delighted to hear that you were so happy during your stay over Christmas, and look forward to supporting you when you return after your hip replacement.

The room was not fit for use, no water in the cold tap, broken loo roll holder, loo seat to low for elderly person and no grab rail. No bedside light and light switch to overhead light by door. Room door "whumped" each time the door in corridor was opened. Snail trails on carpet in room. Broken alarm
call. Mother not dressed properly, no socks and no bra, and pad on wrong way round. Mother found in tears on first day of stay and intimidated. Had been told was never going to leave again. When we said we'd take her out for a cup of tea she said she wouldn't be allowed to come. Fellow resident, who spent his time in the dining/common room, shouted continuous stream of filth. Not his fault but not suitable backdrop for mother's meals. When we removed mother, after two nights, an item of clothing had been lost and to this day not found. (It was labelled.) All subsequent calls to care home met with promises to call back but that never happened. Cold water in tap and other issues not resolved.
Reply from Nicole Howarth, on behalf of the team at Rendlesham Care CentreThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We pride ourselves on the resident experience and are sorry that on this occasion, you found it has fallen short of the usual positive feedback we receive. We understand that you are in close contact with the management team at the home, who are committed to learning and improving from feedback.

The staff have always been approachable, friendly and efficient. Though I haven't had a chance of personally witnessing activities within the home, there seem to be various things for the residents to take part in and invitations to them regularly offered to residents. I am most impressed by the standard
of food. Residents are made to feel really at home with freedom to come and go, as they please (if safe) and take part in as much or as little as they want. Overall a caring and pleasant care home. Well done!
Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, On behalf of the team at Rendlesham Care CentreThank you for sharing your kind words about Rendlesham. It's wonderful to hear that you have found the team approachable, friendly and efficient, and that residents are given the freedom to feel truly at home, with the choice to take part in activities as much or as little as they wish. We're delighted you are impressed with the standard of food, as mealtimes are such an important part of daily life. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and will mean a lot to the whole team.

I have recently started to volunteer at Rendlesham care centre with my dog Scout (Pets As Therapy) and today was my third visit.
The care centre has a very lovely and bright environment whilst also being very safe and secure which is something I noticed almost immediately. It is very clean and welcoming
and the staff are lovely. I am mostly escorted by the activity staff and sometimes Community Relations Manager. I was impressed that they knew all the residents personally and they try and introduce me to everyone. It's great to see the residents interact with Scout, I think she really makes a difference. Scout loves all the attention and fuss and we always leave there with great sense of satisfaction knowing we have made a difference to someone's day.
To be honest, it was Rendlesham care home that inspired me to become a PAT dog owner, we both get so much enjoyment from our visits and it's lovely to get to know the residents, they always have some lovely memories to share.
Reply from Laura Reeve, on behalf of the team at Rendlesham Care CentreMany thanks for taking the time to leave us a review and for volunteering at our home, our residents and team look forward to you and Scout visiting, your visits have had a positive impact on our residents who enjoy making a fuss of Scout and sharing their stories with you. We look forward to seeing you both when you next visit.

What a fantastic care home. My father was there for the last 9 months of his life. He had Alzheimer's and was both mobile and at times aggressive so a difficult patient to look after. Finding a suitable home was to prove a major issue; after short stays he was rejected from two care homes and I tried
to get my father into some 17 other care homes. Eventually I found Rendlesham Care Home which accepted him and looked after him with great care and affection. The care home got him on the right medication, he settled in and spent the last few months of his life as happy and comfortable as one could hope for - a big thank you to all the wonderful staff who looked after my father in his last days.
Reply from Pearl Hope, Home Manager at Rendlesham Care CentreMany thanks for your lovely comments about the care your father received while with us, it was our privilege to care for your father and to hear that he was happy, settled and felt at home with us means everything , the care and services we deliver as a team to our residents and families is extremely important to us. Your comments have been passed on to the team who will be delighted to hear your feedback.

Every time I visit Rendlesham Care Centre I am so impressed with the home and the service given to the residents. It is a home from home. Everyone looks happy and content and nothing is too much from the whole team who are all so happy to help.
The activities in the home are very good, always something
going on. The hospitality and food is very impressive. My relative always says how much he enjoys the meals and how much choice there is.
The care team are very considerate and seems to really care. The home is always clean, tidy and smells nice.
I have met the Manager on several occasions and she seems very lovely and professional.
Thank you to everyone for all you do.

Mum who is 97 years old joined Rendlesham Care Home in March 2024 having had a fall at home and then was unwilling to walk. She has short-term memory loss and was correctly allocated into a mild dementia unit where there are similar residents. From day 1 she has been very well looked after and both
her and I are content and happy with her placement. I visit 6 times a week and also enjoy the regular management meetings with relatives. I enjoy the interactions with management and staff and feel my comments and suggestions are welcomed. I can easily talk to the staff to get daily updates on how Mum is doing. Security of possessions has really improved with the addition of one-to-one support for some walking residents. I was the dressed-up Father Christmas last December and had fun with the staff's elves and with all the residents. I'm pleased that the home now has 3 events people and can see the variety of events they organise, hopefully, some trips out soon in the minibus.
Reply from Home Manager, Home Manager at Rendlesham Care CentreMany thanks for your lovely comments and we are pleased that your Mum has settled in at Rendlesham and you are happy with her care, we value feedback and suggestions and are pleased you are happy with these interactions with the team along with the variety of activities being offered, our resident's happiness and wellbeing is our priority. We also appreciate you dressing up as Father Christmas in our festive celebrations and that you had fun.

Outstanding care for our precious Mum over the past 18 months. All those who work there really care about my Mum (reception, housekeeping, and hospitality included) and go the extra mile to make sure the best is being done for her. It's been a tough journey getting here, as all those with family needing
care will know, all made so much easier with the support of Rendlesham Care Centre.

My mum was only at Rendlesham Care Centre for a short time but the care and attention she received was fantastic. As a family, it was a very hard time for us but knowing how well she was being looked after made it easier.
The staff are friendly, caring and above all, supportive of both residents and
visitors.
I actually cannot recommend them enough.
They treated Mum with dignity and respect throughout her stay and I thank them for that.

Since my mother has been moved to Oak 1 I have seen a big improvement as she is sitting in the day room with the other residents in an armchair instead of a wheelchair during the day. She looks more alert and we have been able to communicate with her on each of our visits lasting one hour.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.471)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.471) out of 10 for Rendlesham Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.521 for Rendlesham Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (151 Excellents x 5) + (51 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 219 Ratings = 4.521
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rendlesham Care Centre is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
