As my husband does not have the capacity to make decisions, it is vital that I have confidence in the quality and level of care provided for him - and I do. The first day for room visit and new manager, no difficult to give a comprehensive review. Rendlesham Care Center residential house and standard
of accommodation, decor and grounds need updating, however, full marks to all staff; they are professional, kind and supportive, caring for the whole family.

Rendlesham Care Centre is everything we could have asked for and more. Every member of staff cares deeply about their residents and often go above and beyond to make them feel safe and happy. We can tell that staff have taken the time to get to know Grandad and it has been a blessing to know that he
is being cared for by such a compassionate team, particularly during the pandemic when we were unable to visit regularly.

Through lockdown the staff, and I mean all the staff, have been outstanding. The care and support they have given Dad is second to none. The care, understanding and support to us his family was also outstanding. I really can't praise Rendlesham Care Centre enough. Thank you all.

My parents have been residents (mum for 4 years and dad for 1 year). as a family we know we would not have had this extended time as a family. It is the dedicated staff that have extended my parents like through nursing, daily care, fun, laughter and total support. My father passed at the end of May
and the support, communication and empathy shown by all members of the team were exceptional. we are in awe at their dedication especially in trying circumstances.

I am so grateful to all the staff at Rendlesham Care Home. The carers have been so good with my husband and the lovely nurses have worked a miracle with his gangrenous foot, changing the bandages every day for at least 3 months. This has resulted in him getting better despite all the odds.

My aunt visited over the Christmas period and couldn't have asked for better care. The staff were friendly and kind and there was plenty to join in with if desired.
My aunt is hoping to visit again in the summer and is looking forward to her stay at Rendlesham - which says it all really!

My father was a resident at Rendlesham Care Centre for 10 months. The staff immediately established an excellent relationship with both him and the family. We were well informed of his care and were able to visit at any time. As his condition deteriorated the staff very thoughtfully adapted to his needs
always respecting his dignity. They were professional and unceasingly patient, kind and compassionate. The steady presence of a cor of familiar staff provided reassurance and enabled him and us to establish an excellent rapport. Following his severe stroke he was always in fresh pyjamas, shaved, hair combed. The end of life care was superlative, gentle respectful and attentive to detail. I have huge respect and gratitude for the exemplary care given.

A lovely, bright modern care home located in beautiful countryside in Suffolk. The design and security of the home is good. The staff are always extremely friendly and helpful, polite and professional. The level of compassion and care shown to my father was excellent. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
I am pleased to recommend to others.

As a family, we were at our lowest and my dear mum was at her most troubled and then she moved to Rendlesham! She was treated with respect and dignity, our family views were supported too. A lovely environment with caring and professional staff. My mum received the very best of everything. What more
can a family wish for? We shall be eternally grateful!

My mum was cared for by the team at Rendlesham Care Centre as if she was a member of their own family. They were very understanding even when presented with challenging behaviour. Her care plan and needs were adapted as her dementia progressed so that she remained as comfortable and as safe as possible.
We thank them for their understanding and compassion in difficult circumstances. Superb care home.

Overall cleanliness poor - particularly the unit kitchen.
Staff don't appear to understand dignity and privacy e.g. leaving a resident to go to the toilet without staying and talking over item.
Toilet rolls x 2 in the bedroom - not necessary.
Witnessed a resident left unattended for a long time.
Slow
response to the call bell - left out of reach.

Carers are kind and caring but usually short staffed. Accommodation is adequate but tired. Nursing staff are generally good. Food is poor and very basic with nothing to stimulate enjoyment of eating. There are no activities over weekends and no trips out on the bus. Courtyard garden needs lots of work
and is not a nice environment. The sunny attractive first-floor balcony is locked and can't be accessed.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.401)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.401) out of 10 for Rendlesham is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.401 for Rendlesham is calculated as follows: ( (179 Excellents x 5) + (69 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (16 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 279 Ratings = 4.401
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rendlesham is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
