Thank you for your review. I'm pleased to hear that you are happy with the care and activities at Shockerwick House.
Accompanied my friend on a trip today to SS.Great Britain. Very pleasant attention to detail requesting information like the measurements as he is wheelchair bound and getting through doorways can be challenging. The trip was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed it. He was able to access all areas and felt as if the chair wasn't there. The packed lunch was very appetising.
Thank you for your review. I'm so pleased to hear that you and your friend enjoyed the trip and hope that you will go on many more trips with us.
Medical care, supervision excellent. Care and attention excellent.

Excellent care home. Caring, experienced staff. Very well managed, by engaged, caring, experienced manager. It is a very very pleasant place for residents to live: beautiful, peaceful, comfortable, spacious. Food is very good and visitors have well looked after. It is expensive, but - having looked around - I think that you get what you pay for. Residents are very well looked after and so are their families.

Thank you, much appreciated.
The team at Shockerwick have been superb, making visits welcoming and relaxing at a very stressful and worrying time. Your listening is invaluable.
Keep up the good work.

I attended a charity event with my daughter and son-in-law who has spent respite care here. The staff and manager were very friendly and helpful. The premises are bright, clean and airy.

As a newcomer, my thoughts are based on first impressions. The caring staff called to introduce themselves very helpfully and the maintenance to ensure I was happy in my room which was newly fitted. The builders were still much in evidence and inevitably created much noise and dust. I have come 2 weeks after my 90th birthday needing much rest and recovery from complications. Staff at all levels respected my needs. Other mobile residents were friendly and gradually came to know names. Christmas featured rigorously! Cards, entertainment and meal times were festive and the interiors of public areas made to look very jolly. I look forward to a very happy future here.

I have been visiting the residents here for three years, in that time I have seen a big improvement, especially concerning "dignity" and some carers attitude.

Food and drink, lunch is usually good but supper is sometimes dull.
Activities, a good effort is made to widen the interest, I have welcomed history and poetry etc. But entertainment has been to easily taken over by one resident's request for Beatles music.
Thank you for your review. Your comments are extremely important to us and our residents’ health and wellbeing is our absolute priority. We will discuss your feedback with the home’s manager to help them continually improve their service. The Bupa Customer Care Team.
My father has received very good care for the past 3 years since he went into the care home. The staff are always willing to go the extra mile to help the residents and put them at ease. The staff are very patient and dedicated and build a good rapport with the residents. I would recommend this care home to others.

The building is very attractive and in a lovely quiet location. Recent refurbishment work has updated the interior. Staff are always very caring, helpful and patient. It's very reassuring to have qualified nursing support when needed.

Shockerwick House Care Home has always felt like home for both of my Grandparents. It is welcoming and friendly. The staff have always been very kind and caring. They go above and beyond to meet your needs. I am always very impressed at the presentation of the home, the quality of the meals and how much choice they have. Shockerwick seems to understand that each person and their families are unique. They always have a lot of patience in hard times. Thank you very much.

Meet the Team (5)

Hello, my name is Dana and I am the home manager at Shockerwick House.
I’m Romanian and worked for many years in the travel industry before I moved to the UK in 2015 and started my career in care.
I initially worked as a health care assistant before moving on to activities co-ordinator and services co-ordinator roles. I worked closely with the home manager and managed most of her non-clinical duties. One year later I was offered the home manager position at another home within the organisation and moved from Bath to Bristol.
I was delighted to join Shockerwick House in 2025 and I am very much looking forward to continuing its legacy with the help my fantastic team.

I have been an RN for over 40 years after completing my training at Musgrove Park Hospital Taunton.
I joined the team at Shockerwick in 2009 and love the professional, friendly, and family atmosphere that we promote here.
In my downtime, I love to spoil my family, especially the grandchildren.

The residents and staff are like family but none of this gets in the way of the professionalism in which we go about our work.
In my spare time I am a keen gardener and love making Jam’s and pickles and when it comes to relaxing there is nothing I enjoy more than a bag of minstrels.

I rejoined the team at Shockerwick House in 2014 as a Senior Carer after 3 years of working as an HCA at the RUH Bath.
Most of my career has been in administrative work but from a young age, I felt that the caring profession was where my heart lay.
Working as a team we provide outstanding care for our residents and there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a smile on their faces.
In my spare time, I love riding my horse and relaxing in the sun.

I have been working in the care sector in different roles since I was 18, only taking a break to have my family.
I joined Shockerwick House in January 2021 as an activities coordinator. While this is my first role totally focused on activities, I have had the same philosophy in all my roles - to make sure I bring happiness, joy and normality to all our residents’ daily lives.
When I’m not working, I love to bake and work on arts and crafts..
