This is the loveliest place I have lived in. They are so kind and look after me and are very caring.
Thank you for your lovely review, and we are happy to hear your comments. If there is anything else we can do to make it even comfortable, please let the team know.
The house itself is beautiful, surrounded by gorgeous gardens and grounds, with fabulous views over the valley. Everything is so well maintained and decorated.
I'm impressed by the range of activities that are offered, from not serious, fun activities to more cultural events. Even more impressed that sherry at lunchtime and evening is included.
I note with approval that their covid restrictions and regulations are very well observed, and I've been told about how visiting can take place once the 'no visit' rule is lifted, and feel sure that the residents will be kept safe.
Thank you for your review. It's always nice to hear that our residents feel they are well looked after. We will certainly pass your kind words on to the manager.
The house and grounds are superb, and I look forward to being able to visit!

Lovely!

I enjoy living here, well looked after. Staff are really friendly. If I can't be at home, Shockerwick House is the next place to live.
We are happy to hear you feel like a part of our Shockerwick family. Thank you for your kind words.
I have found that at Shockerwick House Care Home, I have had a profoundly helpful and pleasant experience here. I could not wish for anything more.
We are happy to hear you feel like a part of our Shockerwick family. We will certainly pass your comments on to the manager.
The staff are always courteous and helpful.
Thank you so much for your lovely words regarding Shockerwick House, we really appreciate your feedback.
The care home has always performed well but has excelled in the current COVID times. This has been especially relevant when visiting family has been limited or prevented.
Thank you so much for your kind words, we really appreciate it. Thank you for trusting us with your loved one's care.
My grandad has been a resident here for just over six months, and in that time the standard of care he has received is of the highest quality. The residents are treated with respect, care and attention by the staff who take time to get to know every resident individually. Throughout the pandemic we have been able to maintain contact through phone calls and video calls and recently in person visits. These are undertaken very professionally and safely, putting our mind at ease. I would highly and unreservedly recommend Shockerwick.
Thank you for your understanding during such a difficult time. We appreciate it is very hard not being able to see your loved one for such a long time. Please let us know if there is anything else, we can do to help.
Since my friend came to live at Shockerwick House earlier this year, I’ve seen a great improvement in her health and well being. The care is second to none, this shines through with all the activities and great birthday celebration during the lockdown. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the team at Shockerwick for all they do for the people they support, especially in these surreal times.
Thank you for your kind words. We are very happy to hear you are satisfied with the quality of our care.
It was a huge change for my mother moving into Shockerwick House just at the beginning of Lockdown. However, the staff have been so kind, helpful and caring that she adjusted quickly and is very happy living there. I cannot think of any area which could be improved upon. The home is in a stunningly beautiful location, it has all the necessary amenities and equipment, I am kept up-to-date with everything which is going on in the home and with my mother, and all the members of staff are delightful and so easy to talk to.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave such lovely comments regarding Shockerwick House Care Home. We are so pleased to hear you are fulfilled with the care we are providing. Thank you for trusting us with your Mother's care, and please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you or your family.
My husband has lived at Shockerwick for the past five months and is very content with the place and the staff. The surroundings are beautiful - a well -maintained Georgian mansion with large grounds including an orangery and a kitchen garden. The far-reaching views are wonderful. Shockerwick is excellently managed, with friendly and caring staff who have time to chat and get to know residents. The food is good, with a choice and extra dishes available - my husband speaks highly of the omelettes which he sometimes chooses to have for supper. There are home-made goodies at tea-time and treats such as ice lollies or ice cream when it's hot. The staff go to great efforts to organise special events - a race meeting with Pimms in a marquee and a VIP area, a pirate treasure hunt with rum on offer, quizzes and music sessions - sometimes live music such as a cello recital or a male voice choir. Shockerwick isn't cheap but I would say it's value for money.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such lovely comments regarding our Shockerwick House Care Home. We are so pleased to hear that your husband is happy with the care he is receiving, and that you can feel at ease with your Husband in our care. Please let us know if there is anything more that we can do to make his stay as comfortable as possible.
My father came to live at Shockerwick House in February following health issues which meant he was unable to live independently. This home is like a five-star hotel. All the staff are so very caring and friendly. The care and attention my father receives is excellent. The staff take time to get to know the residents and the range of activities on offer is superb. My father has views of and access to the most beautiful gardens with many seating areas and magnificent surroundings. He enjoys his food, especially his pre-lunch sherry and the menu choices are extensive, well presented and of high quality. My father has been resident here throughout the recent pandemic and despite not being able to visit personally (although we have held many video calls) I have not been concerned for his wellbeing as I know he is so happy here.
We really appreciate you taking the time to leave us such lovely comments. We are very happy to hear you can feel at ease with your father in our care. It is always so nice to hear from family members feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you or your family.
The quality of care, in terms of both professionalism and kindness, has been excellent and the quiet countryside setting is beautiful and helps to lift the spirits in these difficult days. When communal dining became unavailable due to the virus, Shockerwick arranged socially-distanced events like picnics in our garden, a Pimms and cream tea, a barbecue, etc. The fact that there are extensive grounds here as well as an orangery and a kitchen garden makes it especially pleasant when the weather is good enough to be outside.
The food is good, with alternatives always available - and a glass of wine too if you wish.
Thank you for your kind words. We are very happy to hear you are satisfied with the quality of our care.
I have observed great care and skills in managing my wife's case on her discharge from hospital with complex needs. Both the clinical and residential care were of the highest order. In the event of the lockdown due to Covid 19, I came and took a room here, all my needs were taken care of well.
It is a joy to come and visit my grandmother at Shockerwick. There is always a friendly welcome and an offer of refreshments. It is also great to leave knowing she is happy, well looked after and still able to live her best life!
Thank you for the kind comments, it's lovely to hear that you can feel at easy with your grandmother in our care.
Exceptional standard of care and support for Mum from all the staff at Shockerwick House. Superb facilities, outstanding staff and superlative level of quality care. It is extremely reassuring to know that mum is being looked after by such an excellent team in a magnificent care home.
Thank you for trusting us with your mother's care. We are very glad to hear you can feel at ease when leaving after a visit.
A wonderful care home. My mother became a resident in 2013 with limited life prognosis. Seven years on she is still there. Content and engaged, her cognitive ability after contracting sepsis and encephalitis has significantly improved, as has her mobility. This is due entirely to the amazing care and attention she has received in an environment that is resident centred, comfortable, and which encourages independence. The next best thing to being in her own home.
We really appreciate your kind comments and were happy to hear your mother feels well looked after, hopefully, it gives you some peace of mind when leaving after a visit.
At short notice, a member of staff from Shockerwick House came to visit me in hospital to inform me about procedures at the home which I found necessary. My time was made comfortable and relaxed assisted by the efficient and friendly staff with the addition of some attractingly presented meals.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such lovely comments.
Shockerwick House has been vital in making my mum feel happy, safe and at home during her time here. I am forever grateful to the team.
We are very happy to hear your mother feels safe and looked after. Thank you for such lovely comments.

Meet the Team (5)

Hello, my name is Dana and I am the home manager at Shockerwick House.
I’m Romanian and worked for many years in the travel industry before I moved to the UK in 2015 and started my career in care.
I initially worked as a health care assistant before moving on to activities co-ordinator and services co-ordinator roles. I worked closely with the home manager and managed most of her non-clinical duties. One year later I was offered the home manager position at another home within the organisation and moved from Bath to Bristol.
I was delighted to join Shockerwick House in 2025 and I am very much looking forward to continuing its legacy with the help my fantastic team.

I have been an RN for over 40 years after completing my training at Musgrove Park Hospital Taunton.
I joined the team at Shockerwick in 2009 and love the professional, friendly, and family atmosphere that we promote here.
In my downtime, I love to spoil my family, especially the grandchildren.

The residents and staff are like family but none of this gets in the way of the professionalism in which we go about our work.
In my spare time I am a keen gardener and love making Jam’s and pickles and when it comes to relaxing there is nothing I enjoy more than a bag of minstrels.

I rejoined the team at Shockerwick House in 2014 as a Senior Carer after 3 years of working as an HCA at the RUH Bath.
Most of my career has been in administrative work but from a young age, I felt that the caring profession was where my heart lay.
Working as a team we provide outstanding care for our residents and there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a smile on their faces.
In my spare time, I love riding my horse and relaxing in the sun.

I have been working in the care sector in different roles since I was 18, only taking a break to have my family.
I joined Shockerwick House in January 2021 as an activities coordinator. While this is my first role totally focused on activities, I have had the same philosophy in all my roles - to make sure I bring happiness, joy and normality to all our residents’ daily lives.
When I’m not working, I love to bake and work on arts and crafts..
