The care home has been so understanding and patient, their ability to aid and comfort in times of dementia and anxiety has been a lifesaver. They are like family supporting family, they go the extra mile to make sure you are ok in the process as well as their resident.

The food is lovely and there is always an option to stay and eat with your loved one if you wish. It helps to know Mum can have friends over to eat with her.

As soon as you walk into Bamfield, you feel at ease. It is very welcoming, bright and airy. It is like a hotel but with professional care included. The manager is a very caring lady who listens to how the family are feeling. That is so important when very heart-breaking, stressful decisions are being made about your loved ones. Thank you for caring and being there for me when I needed a shoulder to weep on. The team are jolly, supportive and caring. I would recommend this care lodge for respite or full-time care.

My father has had 2 weeks of respite care in your care home at Bamfield Lodge, it's wonderful like a 4-star hotel. Clean, fresh and a positive supportive atmosphere. The care staff are very professional, caring and attentive. I would recommend any family if in need of this kind of home full-time or for repsite. My father was taken care of very well, he loved the food and all the staff.

I find the staff friendly and always willing to help with any concerns I have. Mum is happy most of the time but thinks the staff are sometimes too busy, and they need more help. Overall we are happy with the current support to come up the only thing that is of concern is that car parking is very limited, and we find it difficult to park some days.

The care team always go above and beyond for my nan!
The kitchen team are always asking residents to help plan the meals and menus.
Activities put in lots of effort to make the activities person-centred.

Management is keen to act on any worries brought to her and to put actions in place quickly.

Nice enough looking care home. The room facilities are very good. The garden could be better. Food is not the greatest. Some very lovely staff individually. However, the greatest problem here is that there is dreadful communication. Lots of different staff covering various shift patterns and the Manager is always in a meeting, never seen her in 6 weeks of my Father being here. Yesterday my Father ordered his tea/supper. After 45 minutes of waiting, nothing arrived. They had forgotten him and he would have not eaten if we had not been there. Really is not the best value for money care home out there. I would not recommend it.

I immediately felt at ease when I dropped my husband off for respite care.
Spotlessly clean. Light and airy. Wonderful kind and friendly staff who listened to me.
Huge room with private shower room. Had TV and access to the garden
It was like a 5 star hotel
When I picked my husband up he said he'd had a lovely week. Great food. Entertainment.

Not like any residential home I'd ever been in for sure!

I cannot fault the care and attention given to my brother in law when he was admitted into Barchester Bamfield Lodge Care Home in June 2022. He wouldn't walk, he didn't want to eat or drink - he was on end of life care. The carers really looked after him, spent time feeding him and getting him to drink. They talked to him and gradually he became confident with them. I would recommend this nursing home to anyone, absolutely superb.

My mum has recently gone to Bamfield, I was nervous to put her in care but Bamfield has taken my nerves away, it is comfy and cosy with good staff who really care. I like her room and she has settled in nicely and made friends with the other ladies. I highly recommend it here. We watched the singers together here yesterday and she loved singing along with fantastic entertainment.

Review from Nick H (Son of Resident) published on 6 July 2022 Submitted via Postal Card

On initial encounter, I felt some issues needed addressing, as I witnessed some rather alarming aspects to Mother's care. After informing the management, it was quickly nipped in the bud. After this everything ran smoothly with exceptional care/work from four carers in particular (x2 night, x2 day). I felt that my mum was treated with dignity and would like to thank the staff, especially 'the 4', for their assistance in Mum's final days. Thank you.
