Very caring environment. The Manager was an absolute natural with my Mum and her warmth and caring/nurturing characteristics shone when meeting Mum for the first time. Mum's stay was only a short one in very difficult circumstances and staff adjusted to her quickly and were eager to find out ways to
best aid her to move to Riversway. I shall always be grateful that Mum was so well looked after in such difficult times.

I found all the staff to be happy, welcoming, approachable, and caring, straight from our initial visit, right through to the time that the staff provided care to my Dad. They were always available to listen and I was able to trust that they were providing the correct care for my Dad. The home was beautifully
furnished and homely and I am glad my Dad had the opportunity to come out of the hospital and experience your home before him sadly passing.

My mother-in-law was only in Riversway for a short period of time, but the care was excellent. All the staff were very attentive and caring, the food was excellent as was able to have own choices if she didn't fancy what was on the menu. The activities were very good and kept all the residents included.
I would have no hesitation to recommend Riversway.

Mum was a resident for just over nine weeks before her death in early April. During that time, she got to know the name of her carer who looked after her with tender care and compassion, as she was in a lot of pain from arthritis. She had settled in well into the home and was enjoying the food and view
from her room of the wildlife outside. She tried to join in some of the many and varied activities available. It was such a shame she didn't live to sit in the wonderful garden.

Riversway delivered professional and compassionate care and consideration for both my mother and myself during a difficult and sometimes, very lonely time. We were able able to spend the limited and precious time we had together without the worry and burden of her daily care needs. All necessary equipment
was always provided, beds, chairs and hoists. Activities and social opportunities were plentiful but never forced. I was always greeted by name and with a smile, and with knowledge of her well being. It was a pleasure to visit!.

This was my first experience of having a relative in a nursing home. My aunt was a resident for about 13 months until her death on 28/9/19. I found that she was treated with care and compassion by her carers. Her room was clean and her personal care good. Although she couldn't communicate very well,
the staff were able to understand her needs and usually managed to get a smile.
The staff were always happy to discuss her needs and answer any questions I had. Overall, a positive experience.

From the first inspection and meeting the staff, I knew my mum would be happy here. It was clean and well maintained. The food menus were varied and nutritious. Everyone had time to talk to my mum who was bed-ridden and see to her every need and keeping me updated to the last day.

Riversway offers everything to residents and families of the residents. The day my father-in-law moved in was traumatic, my mother-in-law knew he would never go home again. She was distraught, he was upset. The manager helped with the transition I think this is very important.

My father was a resident from March 2019 to May 2019. He was on the dementia ward and had some challenging behaviour. We visited him regularly and were always impressed by the caring attitude of the staff and their willingness to answer questions about my father's health and care. We were happy that
the last few months of my father's life were conducted with dignity and respect.

The day Mum moved from a care home into Riversway, the staff made her feel very comfortable and at home. This was also extended to me and nothing was too much trouble. I was told from the start you do the visiting, we will do the worrying. Nothing could be more true. They take the pressure off. Mum
was only there for 3 months but the care and attention she received in that short time was excellent. I can't thank the staff enough for all their hard work and friendliness towards Mum.

My husband was treated with dignity and given the best possible care by all.
He loved the food there and never missed a meal if he could help it especially choc pudding with choc custard. He felt safe and secure at Riversway. That is why it was such a relief that he was able to stay there until he
passed away. Thank you all.

I visited my husband at Riversway for 4 months, 6 days a week, between 11.45 and 17.45, which gave me lots of time to observe how the home was run. I need not have worried, as staff soon became my husband's friends and mine. I could relax for the first time in 3 years after looking after my husband
day and night. The home was clean, relaxed, food was good with entertainment and trips. Everyone was treated with dignity and love. Thank you for your care and devotion.

It was with some apprehension that the decision was made for Mum to go into permanent due to the onset of dementia. Riversway were very supportive, open and honest regarding the process and what to expect. Care at Riversway was always excellent with friendly, attentive and capable staff. Mum had the
opportunity to meet new people and participate in activities and trips, all in a completely safe and lovely environment with round the clock care.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.763)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.763) out of 10 for Riversway Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.778 for Riversway Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (57 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.778
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.985 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Riversway Nursing Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 = 3.55
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 69 registered maximum number of service users is 13.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.8 = 0.435
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
