Situated in bustling Whitehall in Bristol, Saffron Gardens is a 70-bed care home offering 24/7 nursing care for older people with specific needs, including dementia.

Each of the five care home courts at Saffron Gardens are centred around their own beautiful gardens and have homely open-plan kitchens with comfortable seating areas. The courts and each room look onto private, secure courtyard gardens with plenty of areas to sit.

Saffron Gardens is proud to have a dedicated and passionate team, ensuring a consistent and caring environment. Carers are fully trained and qualified, and engage in continuous training and development, with proven expertise in dementia-specific care. They are highly experienced in supporting older individuals who may be frail, have a learning disability, or face long-term illnesses.

In addition to the core care and nursing team, Saffron Gardens has a team of homemakers who provide one-on-one social interaction, group activities, and entertainment. They also organise trips to various locations and welcome community groups into the home.

Thank you to all the team in Orchard Court for providing great care to my mother-in-law until her final days. Your hard work and dedication meant the world to our family during the hardest time of our lives and we cannot thank you enough. You all went above and beyond to ensure that we as a family were

The carers do their best, with the amount of staff they have. They are run off their feet. It is not possible to care for people the way they should be, with the management refusing to see that there is a problem. The management is very good at avoiding answering questions and is dismissive of concerns
until they are pushed for answers. Very good at blaming someone else, and sweeping things under the carpet. Can't wait to get my Dad out of there. Management taking medical decisions into their hands is not on.

My partner was moved to Saffron Gardens, more specifically Orchard Court Dementia Unit, in December 2021. She has just died after an ambulance was called last weekend. I just wanted to talk to someone in a supervisory/management role and got nowhere with the person who took the message. I tried again
to arrange to collect her clothes and photos. The second person was so cold and unfeeling, I don't know why she works in care.
The supervisors and two of the nurses are nice to talk to. One or two of the care staff are good to talk to and care about both residents and family. The rest just do not care and go through the motions. I would never recommend this place until they train their staff to an acceptable standard and recruit people for whom it is marginally more engaging a job than flipping burgers.

Sam joined Brunelcare on Monday and brings almost 30 years of experience in the care sector.


Born and raised in Bristol, she now lives nearby in Downend, making her local to the home.


Sam is passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care. Sam has previously worked at Brunelcare 24 years ago, working as a Health Care Assistant at Deerhurst Care Home, so this new role marks a return to familiar ground.


Outside of work, Sam has four children, six grandchildren, and a British Bulldog called Ralphy.
