Absolutely fantastic nursing home. The care and compassion my late father was shown was amazing. They went above and beyond to ensure he was happy, safe and comfortable and for that I will be forever grateful. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel extremely welcomed at any time of the day or night. I would highly recommend this nursing home and give it 10/10.

My nan has been here for over 2 years she is on Aster Unit. She receives the best care. She is happy here and it’s always very welcoming when I come to visit her. A special thanks to the unit manager and her team for all of the support and care they give to my nan, I couldn’t ask for a better place for her.

My grandmother resides on Aster Unit and has been here for close to 3 years. She is happy and very content here and I couldn’t be more pleased with the care and support that she receives. I visit weekly and it’s always a pleasure when I visit and I always receive the warmest welcome from all of the staff. There is never a dull moment on Aster as the staff always have a range of activities going on or music playing, movie evenings and lots of laughter. It’s simply a wonderful atmosphere on Aster and the staff make it their priority to make sure all residents join in. I would like to give a very special thanks to the unit manager and her team for all of the support and care they give to my grandmother, I couldn’t be happier with the service they provide.

All the staff are very patient and caring and there’s a lovely atmosphere when you visit. The staff are always arranging activities for the residents to stimulate them and stop them getting bored. When I leave I always feel my loved one is in safe hands and will be well looked after.

My brother-in-law has been cared for in Hazel Court, Saffron Gardens. The staff were experienced and caring, coaxing him to eat and drink and being very attentive to his care and personal needs. They worked closely with the GP and communicated well with me. The head chef there cooks everything from scratch, an amazing effort. He really benefited from spending his last few months with their care and support. He was much happier.

Thank you to all the team in Orchard Court for providing great care to my mother-in-law until her final days. Your hard work and dedication meant the world to our family during the hardest time of our lives and we cannot thank you enough. You all went above and beyond to ensure that we as a family were comfortable and supported throughout the process. Keep up the good work and high standards.

Overall Experience

The carers do their best, with the amount of staff they have. They are run off their feet. It is not possible to care for people the way they should be, with the management refusing to see that there is a problem. The management is very good at avoiding answering questions and is dismissive of concerns until they are pushed for answers. Very good at blaming someone else, and sweeping things under the carpet. Can't wait to get my Dad out of there. Management taking medical decisions into their hands is not on.

Review from Rob M (Partner of Resident) published on 18 April 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My partner was moved to Saffron Gardens, more specifically Orchard Court Dementia Unit, in December 2021. She has just died after an ambulance was called last weekend. I just wanted to talk to someone in a supervisory/management role and got nowhere with the person who took the message. I tried again to arrange to collect her clothes and photos. The second person was so cold and unfeeling, I don't know why she works in care.

The supervisors and two of the nurses are nice to talk to. One or two of the care staff are good to talk to and care about both residents and family. The rest just do not care and go through the motions. I would never recommend this place until they train their staff to an acceptable standard and recruit people for whom it is marginally more engaging a job than flipping burgers.
