My dad has been in Summer Lane since July 2016. He settled very quickly in his large room with en-suite. We are all very happy including my dad. Everyone is so kind and helpful and the staff are so caring. He still has his sense of humour and enjoys chatting and laughing with the staff! He enjoys the activities and is happy to socialise. We are all pleased that he has settled in a lovely home.

Thank you

My mother has been at Summer Lane Nursing Home for over a year now, and we have been very happy with the care she has received. The staff are friendly, understanding and professional. Mum is settled there and seems happy and content. It is very reassuring for us as a family to know that she is being so well cared for. Thank you, Summer Lane Nursing Home!

Carers and nurses are first class, always sensitive and dedicated to my mother's needs and I have witnessed each day the wonderful care given to all residents. From the most warm welcome at reception right through to staff, we receive the very best care. Attention to detail, the very close attention and observations on each resident is exacting, done with much love and affection. We are blessed with the most hard working and intelligent carers/nurses/management I have every seen.

I think the level of care is fantastic. My wife is happy here and all the residents I have seen show happiness - a sign of a great home. Any concerns raised is addressed immediately by the manager. She is always delighted to see staff. Definitely recommend this home.

I am writing re the care and treatment my aunt received up to her death on 7th December 2016. The carers and nursing staff were excellent. I cannot fault them. All the staff, from cleaners, catering, repair man, reception, carers and nursing staff were kind and friendly. (I shall miss them). The only thing is considering the fees I believe her room should have been painted and a new carpet which was stained. Since her death, I see this has been done.

My Mum has been at the home for 7 weeks and the care and support she has received has been very, very good. She has dementia and she has settled very well and she is happy to remain there. I feel she is now safe and will be well looked after. She has started to build up a trusting relationship with most of the staff who are looking after her which is lovely to see.

Reviews should be allowed to be shown either good or bad. As of Sunday 27th of November 2016 there has been no heating whatsoever at the care home, the residents are given extra blankets to try to keep warm.

Monday night 28th was one of the coldest nights of the year with temperatures dipping below minus 4. The care staff are doing all they can with little that they have to keep residents warm. The home needs a new boiler.

Reply from Lucy Bateson, Marketing Executive at Summer Lane Care & Nursing Home

Thank you for taking the time to review our care home. Please be assured that the situation with the heating system was a one off incident, the system was fixed promptly first thing the following morning. Country Court Care have invested over £30,000 in the heating system at Summer Lane Care home this year to ensure that we reduce to a minimum the risk of the system failing in future.

This home is amazing, my uncle passed away on 27th October 2015. The girls and staff are lovely so great on my uncles last day. One of the girls on her day off came in to work to sit and hold his hand as he passed away. Any one who is thinking of putting a loved one into Summer Lane, I can't recommend it enough, it is truly a lovely place to put your mum, dad, uncle or aunty. I would put this home as the best. Thank you to everyone there.

Last year I complained about lack of staff on duty and although I did not get a personal response I can see that changes have been made to the home, it "feels" like more homely, it looks more clean and homely, and although I've never had any problems with any member of staff, there appears to be more on duty with everyone being absolutely amazing, friendly, helpful, caring people who actually care. The carers, cleaning staff, chefs and the laundry people everyone is so very kind. I feel my mum is in very good hands.

I have been coming to Summer Lane to use the day centre for the last two years and I really enjoy it. I was suffering from depression and my visits to Summer Lane have made me more comfortable. I have always been greeted at reception with smiley faces. The food is fantastic and it is presented very nicely too. I join in most of the activities and it has really helped me.

The service provided at Summer Lane was excellent. The staff in the dementia unit were very caring and hard working. The rooms were very nice and the food was excellent. The home was very clean and the laundry service was very good. I definitely recommend Summer Lane for someone looking for a bed for their loved one. The deputy manager in the dementia unit was excellent.

I like living at Summer Lane and I enjoy everything I get at Summer Lane. Staff are kind and helpful and always respond to your needs with a smile. Food is very tasty and the choices are great. I can always ask for something different if I don't like what is in the menu. Activity staff in the home are wonderful and they keep us entertained all the time. The bedrooms are very spacious and clean and we have everything we need in our bedroom. The garden in the home is really nice and we usually go out into the garden when the weather is good. I have been living here for a year now and I really enjoy my life.
