Overall Experience

Mum has been there since Nov 2014. To be honest, I was dreading the move and have experienced many less good examples of nursing home care. However, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I see and hear staff being really kind, patient, compassionate to the people they support. I like the fact that we can visit at any time (which is always a good sign). Food is home cooked and plentiful. Mum has had several stressful episodes where she has been end of life - we as a family were (and continue to be) so well supported by everyone there.

If there is anything to discuss I have always felt that I can raise this with the nurses/managers and it would be immediately addressed.

For those who are able, there are trips out and there are always people coming in to provide entertainment. It is always clean and there are never any odours. I have extremely high standards as a health professional myself, however, I have always felt extremely content and assured about Mum's care - we are VERY grateful indeed.

Overall Experience

My brother was placed in Avon Lodge in early May 2016 to help with his palliative care as he is end stage of cancer. From the minute he arrived at Avon Lodge he has had only the most exemplary care and attention by management, nursing staff, carers, catering, and laundry staff. Nothing has been too much trouble and even the maintenance man shows care. We are extremely glad that out brother has been placed in such a caring environment. There are smiles in abundance.

Overall Experience

Mum was at Avon Lodge for fifteen months. During her time, she was treated with dignity and loving care. Everyone was very kind, no matter what level and was very kind and patient with everyone, including difficult and stressful times. Most of my queries were dealt with swiftly and we were all greeted with a smile. Mum always seemed happy and always had smiles for her Carers. They would stay and chat when they had time. The staff kept me informed at all times especially towards the end of our Mum's journey especially in the last few months. Mum was confined to bed, her skin was kept clean, soft and kept clear of any skin blemishes or sores.

The last few days before mum passed away, every effort was made to give mum the dignity and support she deserved. They looked after us all. The day mum passed, we arrived to be greeted by the Manager/staff, as if they were family, mum looked peaceful as if she was tucked up in bed. There was total respect throughout by everyone.
