Avon Lodge Care Centre

Over all care we are happy with. Just a couple of issues with dad being left in lounge area, would be reassuring if more staff kept a look in more often. We also feel some of the staff could be more attentive and understand dementia's needs more. A huge thank you to the 2 wonderful activity staff who try so hard.

Staff are polite and pleasant and nothing is too much trouble for them

Everyone at Avon Lodge have been brilliant in settling mum in after a short stay in hospital. She has lived independently right up until this time (she's 91) so they have been very caring and respectful of helping her adjust. They put mums wishes at the forefront and balance that with the need to be safe and comfortable. They went to a lot of trouble to enable her to eat in the dining room (despite the challenges of moving her) and we and she really appreciated that....she loved the food too.

My husband spent 4 weeks in Avon Lodge Care Home and I found all the staff to be caring and kind.

The care and activities are very good and staff plus management

Our elderly friend was a resident here for over 3 years. She was well cared for and the staff were always helpful, caring and kind. Our friend had a nice spacious room with a lovely outlook over the garden and park. She enjoyed the social events that are offered here like bingo and craft activities and she enjoyed it when singers came in to preform for the residents. As her friends we were able to visit whenever we wanted and were made to feel very welcome. We would happily recommend this home to others.

My husband was in Avon Lodge Care Home after being discharged from the hospital in December 2025. The care he received in the five months he was there was exceptionally good. The staff looked after him with such care and kindness until he passed away two weeks ago. I shall always be so grateful to them for helping us both, and also for looking after me in the last week.

The Avon Lodge team have been amazing looking after dad. He's been made to feel at home and the staff have been so thoughtful. The food is excellent and everyone there treated him and my mum with great respect and care Can't thank them enough.

Avon House is such a welcoming and friendly care home. All the staff are fantastic. Every member of the team shows the utmost respect to residents and family members. The manager is absolutely wonderful, her professionalism and care for all concerned is second to none! Office staff are fantastic at their jobs too, so kind and welcoming and good at their jobs. All the nurses have been fantastic.

Avon Lodge Care Home provided excellent care for my mother-in-law. All staff were friendly, approachable and professional, with attention to detail. Food, services and facilities for both residents and visitors are of a high standard. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms are a good size and kept clean and tidy. I can honestly say that I could not find a fault with the care home. All communication was prompt. A lovely, friendly and homely environment.

Mum-in-law is well cared for at Avon Lodge, the staff are considerate of her needs, and any query I have is dealt with promptly. Mum especially enjoys days out, these are throughout the year, the most recent was last week. These trips enable her to experience some time outside of the nursing home environment, which is important. The manager is approachable and friendly. Overall, Mum is happy with her life at Avon Lodge.

Can't speak highly enough about the care my Sis in Law has had at Avon Lodge. She has settled in very well and forged good relationships with everyone. The care received has been very good. All staff from the Home Manager and the rest of the team have gone above and beyond our expectations. For this we can't thank them enough. When there have been health issues they have been identified quickly, escalated and acted upon. Everyone is really friendly and the Staff are truly dedicated. Its like having a second family.

My mum has been at Avon Lodge for 9 years. The care that she has received over the year is amazing. The love and care for my mum and family, outstanding. I cannot wish for my mum to be anywhere else. The care home is of the highest standard, and the staff and manager go above and beyond to help. It's like a family. Can't thank all the staff enough. You are wonderful, caring. Best care home ever. Keep up the wonderful colour.

A massive thank you to all at Avon Lodge. We are very grateful and appreciative of the excellent, continued care and attention from each member of staff. We are very pleased with the efficiency of being promptly informed when the situation calls, and for the very kind and quick responses when situations arise that require a fast response. Avon Lodge was recommended. Our experience has lived up to and often surpassed your CQC inspection rating. The care and support offered to my wife has been very good, the care staff have been excellent, and the kindness and support to me from the manager and staff has been more than I expected. My wife has been treated with dignity and her wishes respected. She has been encouraged to involve in activities. All positive, the whole experience has been better than I anticipated, maintaining high standards and seeking opportunities for improvement is always challenging, but essential when caring for vulnerable people. I am grateful to everyone at Avon Lodge for helping us cope with a huge change in our lives.

My husband has been here for 11 weeks and I have found that the staff are very caring towards not only him, but myself as well.

Whilst not perfect, and certainly in need of a makeover, there is some excellent care at this home, and whilst it can be somewhat erratic, I do believe that most of the staff genuinely care and do their best. Management, however, and communicating can be chaotic, and could be better organised.
