Avon Lodge Care Centre

Mum has been a resident here for just over a year now and I can't speak highly enough of the care and support she has received during this time. However, during this Covid-19 lockdown, it has been so lovely to see and talk to mum courtesy of the lovely carers who, at times are using their own mobile devices to set up video call sessions. I am truly grateful for this, thank you.

Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and, prior to the lock down, we were able to visit whenever we liked. Thank you everyone, for making our Dad/Gramps feel so at home. He thinks he's in a hotel. Bless him.

My mum came to Avon Lodge after being discharged from hospital following a fall. The manager was really professional and showed compassion for both mum's needs and our needs as a family. The entire team were kind and professional at all times. Our mum passed away after 2 1/2 weeks at Avon Lodge but we cannot thank the entire team there enough.

The team have a real understanding of dementia and tailor care to specific issues. My mum had usual problems so the domestic informing Mum the hoover was going on was very helpful - she wasn't scared.

The moment you walk into Avon Lodge, you are entering into a very clean and friendly environment. There are decorations and printed phrases on the walls, the whole place feels welcoming. The staff are all professional, concerned about the care and needs of the residents but also make you feel special as well. Nothing is too much trouble.

Excellent from start to finish. All the staff were helpful, kind to not only my wife but to me as well. An excellent place, relaxed and nothing seems to be any trouble at all. All the staff very nice.

Our friend was in Avon Lodge for approximately nine months prior to her death. During this time, she was treated well. She was kept comfortable and was engaged with by all of the staff and for this, we are very grateful. Her dignity was upheld as much as possible and although her health was deteriorating, she was able to interact with staff on most occasions.

My wife was made very comfortable and looked after well. Everyone here was very friendly and helpful and looked after me as the next of kin. I cannot recommend everyone here highly enough.

I would recommend this nursing home as long as the changes continue to be made, the new manager is of a very high standard, very approachable and will always listen to any concerns.

Avon Lodge looked after my mother for the last 3 weeks of her life. The staff were all very professional and took extremely good care of her needs. I could not praise them enough. The home in terms of cleanliness and every other aspect was excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home as it is of the highest order. Very well done and thank you so much.

No consistent carers, cups are stained as they are plastic and unhygienic. Never given a hot drink on a lunchtime, just squash, which not all the older generation like. When the chef is on, the food is ok and you are able to cut the meat, other times you can't. Not enough choice of different foods. The manager was unapproachable, the duty manager was much easier to talk to.

The home is clean, plenty of activities for the people to mix and enjoy. The staff are friendly and seem to be always working hard, a credit to the home. The drinks are plentiful, the food is what lets the home down when you consider the money paid. It's uninspiring, put together wrong eg lasagne with mashed potatoes.

I would like to thank all the staff in Avon Lodge for the excellent care in looking after my father even down to the cleaner who, although not her job, showed much kindness to both him and us particularly in his final days, along with all the nursing staff.

My husband visited his relative before and was impressed. My husband and I visited together and I was impressed also. Being near Christmas, but such happy people. Our relative was very happy and keen to show us around, even though she is confused.

In her words, she says she does not understand how she got there. 'Everything is there' she says, 'all what I need!'.

It was just like a good hotel experience, and even the staff welcomed her back in the lounge, very nice touch.

Everyone has been extremely accommodating and kind since Nan arrived. Nothing seems too much trouble and everyone listens to anything we say. She has settled very well and is enjoying the food.

Mum is settling in well and is very calm and relaxed.

Overall we are pleased with the care home. We can leave feeling that Mum is well cared for and safe. However, I do feel they need more staff as the care workers are always stretched in all directions. I would like the £1,200 per week to be spent on staff and not company profits.

Mum has settled well and speaks very, very highly of the staff that work here at Avon House. They are kind, helpful, sensitive and caring, and as we both get to know them more, they are also becoming like friends. The staff are very approachable. As her daughter, I have complete peace of mind. We are very, very happy with mum's care. Thank you.
