I called to speak to my Nan. The carer was on a different floor but said it was no trouble while taking the phone to her. She was very friendly and gave me an update on how my Nan is feeling.

The staff has been fantastic during this very difficult time in arranging video calls to my Mum and generally being very helpful and quite wonderful. They deserve medals.

The home was spotlessly clean. No nasty smells. room light and airy and well laid out. All the staff, from top management to domestic staff were caring, polite, kind, generous with time and comments. They were respectful of her needs and understood her poof sight. they would say who they were and what
they were there to do so she knew what was about to happen. Nothing was too much trouble Loved the freedom of being able to make her a cup of tea whenever we wanted to. Having previously worked in this profession, I would say its the best home I have ever visited. Thank you for your dedication.

I would just like to say a huge thanks to the staff and carers, especially in these uncertain, worrying times. It was my dads birthday yesterday, and the staff were very accommodating by bringing him out into the garden so that we, as a family could see him and be reassured, and for him to know we were
thinking about him. The smile on his face meant an awful lot to us. I know things are difficult and there is not enough staff, however, I know my dad is being well looked after. A big thank you from the family.

Mum has been a resident here for just over a year now and I can't speak highly enough of the care and support she has received during this time. However, during this Covid-19 lockdown, it has been so lovely to see and talk to mum courtesy of the lovely carers who, at times are using their own mobile

Dad has been at Avon Lodge for just over 6 weeks now. All care homes are currently in a lock down situation due to the threat of the Coronavirus. However, the staff at the home have been nothing but helpful in assisting us in speaking with Dad on the telephone and even helping us to video chat with
Dad so we can 'see' him and talk to him. Dad settled really well and loves the carers, who all look after him really well and genuinely care about him.
Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and, prior to the lock down, we were able to visit whenever we liked. Thank you everyone, for making our Dad/Gramps feel so at home. He thinks he's in a hotel. Bless him.

My mum came to Avon Lodge after being discharged from hospital following a fall. The manager was really professional and showed compassion for both mum's needs and our needs as a family. The entire team were kind and professional at all times. Our mum passed away after 2 1/2 weeks at Avon Lodge but
we cannot thank the entire team there enough.

Avon Lodge has an amazing team, all from the management team, nursing staff, domestic and cleaning staff, so kind and compassionate.
The team have a real understanding of dementia and tailor care to specific issues. My mum had usual problems so the domestic informing Mum the hoover was going on was
very helpful - she wasn't scared.

The moment you walk into Avon Lodge, you are entering into a very clean and friendly environment. There are decorations and printed phrases on the walls, the whole place feels welcoming. The staff are all professional, concerned about the care and needs of the residents but also make you feel special

Excellent from start to finish. All the staff were helpful, kind to not only my wife but to me as well. An excellent place, relaxed and nothing seems to be any trouble at all. All the staff very nice.

Our friend was in Avon Lodge for approximately nine months prior to her death. During this time, she was treated well. She was kept comfortable and was engaged with by all of the staff and for this, we are very grateful. Her dignity was upheld as much as possible and although her health was deteriorating,
she was able to interact with staff on most occasions.

My wife was made very comfortable and looked after well. Everyone here was very friendly and helpful and looked after me as the next of kin. I cannot recommend everyone here highly enough.

My husband stayed here for the last 8 months, since the change of management, the care and standard of staff has improved.
My husband was cared for very well, in particular, the last week of his life, the care and compassion from every member of staff was outstanding. The Senior Carer and Nurse that
supported me to be with my husband until the end, are 2 of life's angels and our family would not have coped without them.
My husband had very complex needs, with chrons disease as well as dementia and both were managed very well.
I would recommend this nursing home as long as the changes continue to be made, the new manager is of a very high standard, very approachable and will always listen to any concerns.

Avon Lodge looked after my mother for the last 3 weeks of her life. The staff were all very professional and took extremely good care of her needs. I could not praise them enough. The home in terms of cleanliness and every other aspect was excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care

No consistent carers, cups are stained as they are plastic and unhygienic. Never given a hot drink on a lunchtime, just squash, which not all the older generation like. When the chef is on, the food is ok and you are able to cut the meat, other times you can't. Not enough choice of different foods.
The manager was unapproachable, the duty manager was much easier to talk to.

Since your visit, the home is now fully staffed with no agency usage. We have 2 permanent chefs working opposite shifts to ensure consistency and continuity and there’s been a change of management with a new Deputy and Home Manager which both operate an open door policy and can be contacted at all times during office hours or by phone out of hours.

The home is clean, plenty of activities for the people to mix and enjoy. The staff are friendly and seem to be always working hard, a credit to the home. The drinks are plentiful, the food is what lets the home down when you consider the money paid. It's uninspiring, put together wrong eg lasagne with
mashed potatoes.
