Castle Hill House is a family owned care home, situated in landscaped gardens in a quiet area of Bodmin. The home specialises in providing 24-hour sympathetic, professionally given care to mainly elderly clients. The team cater for residential clients with varying care needs.

The bedrooms at Castle Hill House are nicely decorated and furnished throughout. Designed for maximum comfort, each room also has its own modern nurse-call system so that staff can be called 24 hours a day.

There are a variety of bedrooms which are either traditionally styled in the original house which dates back to 1865, or newer purpose built rooms with en suite facilities in the recent extension. Most rooms are single rooms, for clients to enjoy their own space. However there are a few rooms which are larger and are for those who enjoy some company and wish to share.

Trained cooks and the rest of the catering team take great pride in providing home cooked nutritious and varied meals, using fresh produce and high quality ingredients. Vegetarian dishes and special dietary needs are always catered for, as are people's likes and dislikes.

Very good nursing care, every need is met. Good diet, lovely room, easy to talk to staff, all very caring and helpful. Open hours which are very convenient. Lots of activities for those who can participate, doctor visits regularly. Mum had a birthday cake made for her by the chef which was lovely. We
feel she is safe and in good hands.

My name is Careen, I qualified as a nurse in 1985, back in the days when nurses wore large silver buckles and frilly hats. I’ve seen a lot of changes but one thing that never changes is my fascination with people and their stories; I have had the privilege of caring for someone whose job was to press the first new coins for the royal mint, the person who invented the TOG rating for duvets, a lady who travelled across the London Underground during the war with her handbag stuffed full of diamonds after the bank she worked for was bombed, I've even had occasion to sing ‘Happy 111th Birthday to you…’.


My days are as varied as the people that fill them, just one of many reasons why I love my job here at Castle Hill House.
